1. No USB storage.

2. No much activity  within LAN port and CPE (fiber modem) due the ASUS has hang. Normal operation it's flickers due to data transmission within the both equipments.
You could simulate the modem to hang by have many wireless devices doing log in and out or doing heavy downloading files through torrent.
*
IMPORTANT[SIZE=7] When the router hangs - the LAN lights appears to be steady. But if you observe closely it actually flickers faintly and at constant interval, maybe twice every second.

For ordinary eyes it may appear to be a steady signal but you have to observe very closely to see the faint flickering. It doesn't OFF completely but as if the power to the led reduced by 25 or 30 percent so the brightness reduces giving the effect of flickering at regular interval.

I have taken a video under normal circumstance and waiting for the router to DC again to record the "flickering" lights. Will post it when I have them recorded.

Hi all,
Sorry for the delay of update. Currently our disti, AVF is conducting a internal test on it. Perhaps next week i'll be able to pass it to prysys for his testing. Then STC.

It is now 13 days and 10 hours without DC with K firmware. It is now working perfectly after the initial DC with K firmware. I have gradually increased the WIFI connections. now seven wifi and one wired and one external drive connected. I know I messed around something after the initial DC problem with K firmware but cannot remember what I did. Sorry for not following the thread becoz the email notification stopped.

Damn...K firmware crashed after 14 days. ASUSMY even if you don't want to replace my less than one year router at least can you give a special discount for other ASUS models. I need a reliable router because I access from outside and got no one to reboot if I am away.

Sorry ASUSMY, I didn't see all those messages before my last posting. I cant make it tomorrow. RAYA holidays mah. I still suspect it could be some sort of conflict or hardware issue. The other thing occurs to me is could the router blocking all connecting too prevent unauthorized access. In the 15 trouble free days I noticed my log generated some miniupnpd connection failed every two minutes which is not from any of my devices.

Hi Prasys, I tried to set up DD WRT but it didn't work. Must I set the vlan tag? I can find complete guide for RT N13U. Anyone having the link? THanx.

Currently there isn't a proper guide yet. I'll write it , Currently I'm testing out RT-N13 here as well. Lets hope that everything works and we can find an error with the device
*
Thanks Prasys. Anyway, just managed to setup DDWRT to run. Apparently, I was doing it correctly but the power led turns off once I install DDWRT FW. Other lights are fine and Internet access is ok. Once I revert to K FW the power led is back on and stable.

It looks like RT13 got hardware problem. ASUSMY didn't respond to my PM nor offered to trade in for a better unit. I guess this will be my last ASUS product.

Chill out bro the RT13 is a cheap build router they are more elite version coming in like Asus RTN66U and RTN56U, i personally own and recommend all my corporate customer only these 2 models . If they one more features i use Mikrotik lah bro

It is not that I like to complain and I respect all the hardwork of the engineers to solve a problem. But my router started to act up after about 6 or so months. Many more also saying the same thing about RT N13U. As a responsible global business entity ASUS should recall the product and give temporary replacement until they sort out.

What is the logic by giving different firmware and testing out to solve the problem? What if the new solution also started to act up after six months? As a consumer I can give co-operation to help ASUS to solve the problem. As you can see from my previous posts I state every observation about this problem. In the end, what did I get? Not even a courtesy acknowledgement of PMs.

We put up with the firmwares and do test for them? As a consumer I think I have been magnanimous and ASUS should do what every other manufacturer would do, i.e. 1) RECALL RT N13U or 2) REPLACE them. I have located my CC statement and now looking for the recipts which is in the store room and will look into next course of action.

It is not the firmware. Otherwise it wouldn't have worked trouble free for the first six months. It is as simple as that.

ASUSmy, please i beg you find a proper solution for the N13U users. I paid good money for this product believing in reliability of the company.

Please either upgrade us to a different model or return our money back if the last attempt from prasys still doesn't work. We consumers shouldnt be suffering for a mistake made by the company. Its really destroying our hopes in Asus budget product lines.

Nothing like that going to happen. I asked Sri Comp about my product and they say they are only responsible for the first year warranty which they will forward the unit to ASUS for repairs. No replacements or discount.

Now, it is a router but who knows what could be the next? I am tempted by the tablets but will wait for a year or so.

How to I return RT-N13U for repairs under warranty? It seems I cannot return to ASUS directly. ASUSMY, kindly tell me the procedure. I am told that the dealer will charge us service charge.

Meanwhile, I am planning to buy a new router for UNIFI during the PC FAIR. Anyone can give me a good suggestion?

Hmmm...from what I understand for previous RMA process for other items, normally the shop will charge a shipping fee the first year of product warranty. I would suggest to send the faulty device to the distributor instead.

Hope this helps =)

Thank you for the reply.

Hi STC, yes the dealer will charge for the service charge as most of the dealer only provide 1 year FOC for sending product for warranty, this apply for other brands also.

Thank you
*
Thanks for the reply ASUSMY. How much service charge are we talking about? Full charge to be sent to Taiwan as Malaysia service centre not doing doing the service. Since a new RT N13U is around RM160 perhaps it is not worth it.

Anyway, can we RT N13U have a special deal on the PC FAIR? ASUSMY, persuade ASUS to make a deal with the unfortunate RT N13U buyers.

Hi STC, the service charge will not be that expensive. The reseller mostly will help send back to the distributor from Malaysia. The charge is mostly less than RM50.

As for the trade in, I will have to ask my management. If you planning to buy ASUS router, please PM me the model then I will help ask also.

Thank you

Thank you. I will then hang on till the PM response. BTW, any special offer for the Padphone2 during PC Fair. Really itcy.. blush.gif

Nothing much we can do here on this model. Ill suggest u find another model except this one. There is no fix yet on RT-N13U B1 as of now for unifi.
*
I went for RT N13U becoz TM router started to hang and lose connection. Now, i forced to use TM's router and the old router functioning properly with DC for more than 1 month. Wonder if DC is actually service providers problem.

Bought ASUS RT N56U. Still using the old firmware and it is awesome. Hopefully it will last longer than 9 months unlike RT N13U.
