Can anyone explain to me on the YES Zoom package? It says comes with RM 800 credit and RM 400 rebate. What does that mean? Do i still have to use the credit to purchase the valuepack everymonth?

Hey just want to ask you, my friend bought an acer laptop that comes bundle together with this YES 4G. The package inside got free 3.5GB, wonder if he or she can bring forward the excess bandwidth to next month by reloading another value pack?

hmm, suddenly I feel cheated, the so call RM50 worth credit from GO Started Pack in not credit, it is rebate only, where by rebate only can be use for the 9 sen boardband, sms and call, or may be IDD, but CANT be use to purchase the RM68 or 150 value pack, =.=.

i register for zoom yesterday,until this morning still cannot use the line . how long it normally take? the sales person said it tke 3 hours but now more than that already. anyone have this problem before

Thanks, now can use already, I change my password on the modem setting. I think maybe key in the wrong password when doing the setup. Not very happy with the registration process yesterday.the sales person keep pushing to get a new number even though I already register under yes life. Giving me the wrong information end up paying for Rm 50.00 activation fees that I thought it was waived..never inform me that the Rm 1199.00 packages need to pay the activation fees.

somehow today i cant even connect the 4g network on my huddle red light kept blinking...

it is the update.. i called the yes care.. they guided me tru and it works after the firmware updated.

btw.. how come the iphone apps yes life once i click.. kep on pop out.. anyone facing this prob??

I tested before. 1 person do speedtest get 6-7 Mbps. 2 person do speedtest speed reduce to 4-5mbps each. Add 1 person can affect 1-2 mbps. Just imagine when people start using this increasing. Luckily it's a payu. They usage will not increase to much.

Any release log for the update? I mean what changes.

Hope someone here can help me. My connection break off four to five times per hour when
i am using the internet. When the connection breaks it will search for network then reconnect
automatically. Sometime i need to press connect myself and sometime i cannot reconnect
and have to wait a few hours. Do you think the GO usb devise is faulty and should i bring
it personally to lot 10 for them to check? My signal 1 to 2 bars .Thanks

I think I will give Yes a year since their inception to fix their teething problem since it is fair to assume the management and technical team are still new to this. I suppose so their share price also translate to their poor performance and we will see if the will actually recover in time to come.

disconnect so i assume it is YES fault again and not my Dongle. Continue your lousy service
and your customers will abandon you. Brand loyalty is not practiced anymore.

Actually the main question is how can i get the Internet Connection from YES 4G as i don't have any simcard?
If only i do have Internet Connection from YES 4G, i'm only able to make calls/sms etc.

Hi, I'm 1 of the rf engineer who working on this project currently.
I might able to answer some questions regarding to the technology and radio frequency things.

Simply speaking, YES WiMAX is just a very advance version of wifi.
For WiFi, we connect via a nearby router which cover a short distance.
For WiMax, we connect via a nearby base station which cover up to few KMs (0.5-2km) in urban area.

WiMAX is not really from a telecommunication world which using telecommunication technology, but instead it is from computer world which using computer technology like data networking.
So due to it is from IEEE standard and from computer world, it just same like other WiFi, u connect to WiFI by just provide security keys, but in WiMAX u provide user ID and password to verification to access the service, ur user database is saved in YES server, the server will translate ur user ID and "so called" phone number actually is the same thing.　In WiMAX, everything is data and digital, as simple as "WiFi" and "Internet".

While different from telecommunication technology CDMA GSM HSPA+ and LTE coming malaysia in next 2 years, these technologies are from telecommunication world 3GPP standard. For Voice Call, current common operators still using 2G technology, just the data service is 3G technology. For 2G technology, it is still more an analog system which actually no database on server for verification when ur handphone connect to base station, instead the SIM card is the only thing to identify ur device.

So you know why it doesn't need SIM card for WiMAX.

Why past days don't use data networking for voice call? because data rate before (even 3G) is still not enough to maintain a good quality call, with nowadays data rate can up to 50mbps, it is a good idea to make call using data networking, because traditional telecommunication technology using mostly on analog and require a lot of hardwares to maintain the system, while data networking require much lesser hardwares (save cost) and easy to maintain... cause only need... softwares!! upgrade to maintain (save cost). Anyway, voice call over data networking is not easy, as data is something easy to lost over a long distance data transmission, so the voice call quality cant compare to traditional technology.

Just like how we compare Laptops and Desktops.

For mobile broadband, it have a much much more technology difficulties to fully cover and make sure an area to have a very good signal.
Especially WiMAX in Malaysia and most countries which operates at high frequency 2.3Ghz spectrum.
High frequency = shorter cover distance per each base station (or antenna in easy term)
High frequency = lower wall/building penetration power

For WiMAX need approximately 3-5 more base stations to cover an area compare to a normal GSM Base station.
Just like how you try use 3-5 one cent syilings to cover a 50 cents syiling, if u use 3 to cover, u find out 1 small hole in middle, when u use another 1 cent syiling put on top to cover the hole, u probably overlapping the other 3 syillings, (overlap = interference = drop in signal quality). More complex to say... it also include the capacity and frequency plannings... depend on the populations density of the area.

So... it is very sorry if your house is in the hole area, or in the overlapping area, u cant get the full signal. It is all depend on luck

YES life is just an application on iOS device.

First, let us separate 2 things,
1: Application        -  What you have been interacting with your phone.
2: Data Transfer    -  What have been sent out / receive from internet.

1. YES Life is only an application, which allow you to make voice call / face time on internet instead of using GSM from Maxis/Digi/Celcom.
2. How? By transfer the voice over internet, what connection u use for internet? it is either WiFi that you connected or Data Plan that you submitted from Maxis/Digi/Celcom.

What are the advantages?
1 - You can have 2 numbers from your iPhone exist TOGETHER, 1 number from your SIM card, 1 number from your YES ID.
2- You can call to friend with only 9 cents / minute using YES ID, especially good if you make IDD call from other country.
3- You can do a face 2 face call.

Why we cant use WiMAX 4G connection on iPhone yet? Because iPhone (or most available handsets in market) have no chipset built in to support wimax.

Anyway, more HTC / Samsung WiMAX supported handsets will be coming soon i think.
USA just have these models not too long ago, you can consider YTL really fast forwarded Malaysia's technology, which we always feel lack behind compare to other country. YTL really did make some shakes on other Internet Providers even telcos.

There are many cautions when you are using YES:

1: Disable auto-update for all Programs! (This will consumed your data usage without your knowledge) Especially Windows auto-update which sometimes caused 200-300mb innocent usage.

2: Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to check whether any Thunder / ppsteam.exe process that running on background, these programs will upload/download without your knowledge. Especially the ppstream, which many of my friends not awared... will stealthy download n upload something.

3: Do run anti-virus / security often, some 3rd party program like trojan will sometimes "borrow" your computer computational power to do run something, which mean it also will used up ur upload and download data.

Advice: download some data traffic monitoring tools like NetPerSec
Sometimes open it, and check whether any abnormal DL and UL happening.
Let say if you are idle on internet, doing nothing, but suddenly 15mbps download speed shows there.... then you need be careful, something is using the data. If you hv ppstream.exe running behind, you also should see that upload speed is abnormally high.
