QUOTE(nimrod323 @ Aug 8 2010, 12:13 PM) no such thing, outright prices are controlled by apple. this has been the case everywhere, only Digi wants you to use their plans and doesnt offer outright purchase, not maxis. Apple may have most, but not full control of the prices and all. Its a compromise, and an agreement. I'm trying to point out that we are encouraged to use their plans instead of just buying the phone which costs us more. We still gotta make phone calls anyway right Added on August 9, 2010, 12:41 pm QUOTE(nimrod323 @ Aug 8 2010, 07:50 PM) But I really wish that the pre order will be available in Mid August, and the iPhone 4 will reach us users in late August. I cannot tahan d Added on August 9, 2010, 12:48 pm QUOTE(intothefantasy @ Aug 8 2010, 10:40 PM) thats really a good news for us here...as expected the preorders or booking will be in the mid august and getting the set in sep...before raya perhaps? I'm not worried that the price will be too high.
I just don't agree with the plan where maxis gives you little call hours with large data which cannot be used up entirely. I'm on iValue2 (1GB) and I normally used up less than 500MB, if I didn't deliberately download stuff to use up the 1GB. I'm a heavy user but using mail, safari, social networking apps, news apps and updating apps everyday just don't use up so much bandwidth. And since everywhere has WiFi connection I would just not use my 3G which drains my battery faster. I wonder how much data do you guys use every month? |

QUOTE(HappyGOLuckyme @ Aug 9 2010, 09:27 PM) hmmm...if youre such a heavy user and cant finish up 1GB then...who would be able to use up 3GB for iValue 4? I see people getting iValue3 and iValue4 just for the calls. Some just tether a lot and download movies using 3G network when they realize that they can't use up those data on iPhone. lol |

Nonono. I apologize for expressing my words so badly.
Okay what I mean was not "maxis will jack up the price" but "maxis does jack up the price" yet this is still not totally correct. In fact you two were right that Apple has control over the prices so that they dont vary in different places. I made this statement because I noticed that the contract free iPhones are priced so highly at RM2990 when Maxis released the 3GS in early August 2009. And this is why most of the people go with the plan but not getting the contract free iPhone instead. Just like other telcos in other countries. Contract free iPhones are more expensive, of course. And since people gotta make calls, they don't see the point getting contract free iPhones. I was simply trying to tell the user who first asked if maxis will sell outright that contract free iPhone are definitely more expensive that iPhones with plans. I hope you understand that it's more like a suggestion, not an argument. As for the Maxis iPhone 4, everyone's been saying about different things. Some say that apple will delay the August and September batches because they're making slight changes to the hardware, some say they couldn't get approval from certain countries. Sigh, I just hope that Malaysia will be one of the countries in the August batch just like how it was for the 3GS. *praying hardly* Added on August 10, 2010, 10:32 am QUOTE(Kyoshiro @ Aug 10 2010, 02:02 AM) I think maxis and digi should increase their free data usage that comes with the iphone4 plans. 12GB per month? My cousin from Singapore was asking me about Malaysia's plan and I told him that I was on iValue1 which comes with 500MB monthly data usage. He was like "What? Malaysia's telco plans still have 'MBs'?" Singtel's iphone plans with at least 12GB data bundle compare to our 500MB - 3GB. Malaysia Boleh! Zzzz How much data does he use every month then? This post has been edited by fuiyo: Aug 10 2010, 10:32 AM |

QUOTE(nimrod323 @ Aug 10 2010, 10:36 AM) well, it all depends actually some might feel that the outright price is justifiable since they think maxis is dispatching crappy service, so they'd get it and put their Celcom, uMobile, TuneTalk,Digi sims in. Yeah especially when Maxis claims to have a 3.6Mbps but many users only get around 1.2-1.6Mbps.Regarding the launch, hmm u havent factored agency approval aka the government thru sirim, that takes an even longer time, im hoping anyone who works at sirim to clarify if they have test units What about yours? Sigh its really a long procedure. By the time it reaches Malaysia there are already new iPods =.='' |

QUOTE(xaw5126 @ Aug 10 2010, 12:22 PM) why do you guys assume other countries supply is based on ours? the reason why Maxis n Digi are struggling is that Apple expects them to sell x amount, based on pre-order + booking. that's why we need to show interest via their websites. According to Macrumours report, each telco in Australia is given 12-13k iPhone 4.if Digi can show Apple Asia "we have 10 K people registered" ... then they'll keep at least 10K units for Digi. but it will probably be a time-based thing, maybe 10K for the first 1 month, then if Digi cannot finish them, Apple will take them back or something like this ... at least the telco have a chance to do some sales. think outside the box people... Apple is very very good at managing hype, supply, logistics AND demand But only 1 telco alone already received 100,000 pre-orders. A friend of mine managed to get one on the first day, whereas another was told that he needa wait for 3 more months. Just like my friend and I both pre-ordered the 3GS last year, but it was only me who got the phone in early august wheres he needa wait for 2 more months. Poor thing. lol I do hope that both Maxis and Digi could meet the demand =) I wonder if Apple will take our iPhones and supply to Singapore, NZ and Australia first who are all facing shortages? I heard people saying which I doubt so. No right? Or else we needa wait longer. |

QUOTE(Suk @ Aug 10 2010, 05:09 PM) steve job will announce the worldwide launch.... Steve mentioned in the keynote that there's an August batch before the September batch.this is according to apple not by maxis themselves. malaysia always is the 3rd wave launching. according to WWDC 2010, Launching will be end of June, end of July and end of September. Note that Engadget and many other forums' omitted the Auguest batch in their live blog. 5 countries in the first batch on the 24th of June, 18 more countries including South Korea in July, 24 countries in August and 40 countries in September. So its 88 countries in total. But if you calculate, there are just 87 countries. lol I guess we're in the August batch! =D |

QUOTE(HappyGOLuckyme @ Aug 13 2010, 10:52 PM) iData right? Yeah its much cheaper than the iValue plans. But there's something I wanna make sure. Lets say I'm getting the iData 2 (RM50 per month for 500MB) now and I just reloaded RM50 into my prepaid card for calls and SMSs only. Maxis will know that I'm on iData 2 so they won't deduct my RM50 credit which is going to be used for calls and SMSs, right? Instead they'll charge ANOTHER RM50 for the 500MB hence every month I needa pay RM100. Does it work this way? Sorry if my questions are stupid. As I've always been a postpaid user. If I'm switching to prepaid, does it mean that I'll be less prioritized for the new iPhone 4 compared to other postpaid users who are signing up for the new iValue plans? QUOTE(dvlzplayground @ Aug 14 2010, 12:17 AM) u're only eligible for iData plans if u use maxis value plus 50 and up postpaid plans. not available for hotlink prepaid Eh thanks for the info! Haha!for hotlink u need the Mobile Internet package, which is rm68 per month for 500mb. rm88 for 1.5gb and rm98 for 3gb. this is not an iphone-only package, any phone can purchase so lets say u reload rm100, n purchase the 500mb plan. so 100-68=rm32, so u credit for calls/sms/etc is rm32. calls n sms rates according to what hotlink plan u use. but then 500mb/month data is free for the 1st year so no need to pay lah at least that's how i understand it But what do you mean by "u're only eligible for iData plans if u use maxis value plus 50 and up postpaid plans."? How does iData work then? I'm currently looking for the cheapest plan for iPhone =) |
