since he's not interested in SQ (sound quality) and just want some bass, then yes go ahead and just add the active sub and install under the seat first.  if u have some extra cash left, can change the front 4inch speakers to coaxials.

later on, when u have the budget add component speaker set for the front and a 2ch amp maybe.

tongue.gif active sub will do the trick for people who just want the little extra bass, but of course, if like all sifu here play real ICE than tak boleh lo active sub hehe rclxms.gif

Hi thank you for your reply, but if possible I really do not wish to change the original look of the head unit. It looks very well intergrated with other things in the car.

Thank you for the reply. As I am very new I went to search for what coaxial and component speakers.

To my understanding is that component speakers are better than coaxial speakers.

When you said ADD COMPONENT SPEAKER, do you mean I have to add this component speaker to my exisiting coaxial speaker? Or I have to take out the coaxial speaker, and install the component speaker ?

Also, With that adding of adtive sub and changing the speaker(either coaxial or component), it is not necessary for me to change the HU right ?

Hi I got a question to ask,

Myvi dashboard speaker is 4" right, meaning if I want to add the coaxial speaker I can only add a 4" speaker? No other sizes ?

yes components r better than coaxials, but u will need an amp to power them up, coaxials no need, can play direct from HU.

add comps, preferably to replace the coaxials la, once u have the budget for it, both comps & amps..

no u dont need to change the player when adding active sub & coaxials..

Thank you everybody for all the input. Looking at everybody's helpful advise and my own satisfaction and taste and budget, I have come up with this conclusion.

1)I will add a component speaker by Boschmann, AL-100SE. Its a 4" 2 way speaker.

2)I will add an active sub woofer, name Steelmate SW 826, can be bought from LYN forummer, sh@rty.

I will not change the head unit.

Will my original head unit be able to support these? And any other advise or recommendation before I go ahead ?

Thank you very much smile.gif

Oh ok... not even a coaxial set then ??

Yes I have been advised to take the coaxial set first.
But because I thought a component set is better than coaxial set and the price does not really differ too much (around RM70),
thats why I choose to have a component set.

So suggestion is that just adding an active sub ? Do not have to change the 4" speaker as 4" just wont help ?

Thank you for all the replies.

for normal use, coaxial is ok...
6 ' component will make a great improvement, but u have to spend about Rm400 to modified ur door...
if u wan 2 keep the original myvi cd player look, u can install ur player in the space below the air-cond control button...
a good installer is the most important factor...

now the poor boy is confused............

Bro,
change to components, not 4" but 6" comps.
add the active sub if you must (i suggest you listen to the comps 1st then decide if you still need the active sub cause you can easily add later)

you will need to build a mount for the 6" midbass speaker at the door.
no need amp, just wire direct to HU.

jz a comparison only... 4' component want to have great result, really difficult to find, some high-end brand does offer 4 componenents.. bt 4' still have their limits...

Ahhh... I guess I will skip the 6" component set since I have to modify my door.

In that case I see that a 4" coaxial speaker is good enough, for me at least smile.gif

And then adding an active sub also, and not chaning the HU.

Is that OK, didineo ?

Thank you for your reply.

But I think I will not build a mount for the 6" speaker. If changing the 4" speaker to a coaxial speaker is good enough for normal listening, then that's what is probably good enough for me too.

Appreciate your comment smile.gif

Yes. I definitely want to improve the original sucky sound system but do not wish to modify the car heavily...
