Brand: HTC (in a pinch I may compromise for a Samsung/Motorola though, but I really prefer HTC)

Budget: say around RM1000, maybe a few hundred more if need be.

Specs: Speed processor depending on screen size I guess, but in general 600-800MHz is alright with me.
Capacitive touchscreen preferred, but I'm not too picky.
Decent camera (shutter speed, focus)
Mid- to large-sized screen
Battery life should be decent for some music playback, occasional internet browsing, but mostly just regular calls/txt messages (decent meaning, up to 3 days and over if possible - it's a stretch I know but I'm not a heavy net user on mobiles and besides music and a few apps I'll mostly just call and text message. My iPod takes care of most net/games/music though)

Android 2.0 above if possible, I know updates are hell to wait for...
So overall a phone good for essential phone usages, with a decent battery/camera/resolution/processor (doesn't have to be excellent)

I was actually looking at the HD2 but the dealbreaker was that it's a WM6.5...not even a 7 (and I want an Android anyway)

Hey i did some research about SE X10. It has a 65k display on 4 inch screen. However i am confused with the 65k and 262 k colour display. I am a colour blind and i cant see some of the numbers in the undang test, so I doubt that i am able to notice the difference between 65k and 262k display.

Alright.... I know Motorola has already given up on xt720 and SE has screwed up the X10 in performance and stability... Whereas Desire should get 2.3, I mean its Google twin (Nexus 1) already has 2.3 on the way......
Lol, he doesn't drop phones often... He is a careful person... If the Defy is 1.4K, then I can recommend him that after I read through the reviews....
But erm..... Motorola doesn't really have good Customer Service or so I hear?? + I doubt their 2.2 update will be coming any time soon.

Use to browse web, listen music, play games (girly games not those guy games like shooting), GPS, take pictures. Definitely need flash. Use to view documents.

I like Aria a lot but the down thing is camera flash..

Another thing is that I always drop my phone and stuff. So its important that the phone is tough so that I don't have to keep on repairing if I drop it.

Hi, i'm lookin for a new phone wit the above specs, my fren recommend me htc wildfire, but i read the review....it's saying its occasional lag etc...dunno reliable anot tho....

I've pretty much dropped the Nexus S to the bottom of my list, for a variety of reasons. 5 MP camera, no Micro SD card, retarded advertising, etc.

Well, after losing my Hero, I didn't get the Desire because at that time, word was the DHD was coming out "soon". Bloody hell, if I knew soon meant half a year later, I would have gone ahead and gotten the Desire and be done with it.

But now that the DHD is out, I'm not that impressed by it anymore, mainly because it took them so damn long to release it, potong stim already. Love became hate. 

I looked up LG Star, and yea it sounds good. But I hope it doesn't turn out to be another SGS which I was VERYCLOSE to buying - specs look good on paper only, didn't fully translate into good user experience. Guess I'll have to play with it myself before I decide to get it or not, or at least wait for more in-depth reviews, but yea, this LG Star is definitely near the top of my list right now.

Come on LG, don't be a moron like HTC. Just release the damn phone right here right now and let me take a look at it.
EDIT: But then again, Nexus S has that uncommon appeal. Like "you won't see this phone available in your common phone shop, you common peon" kind of appeal. LG, on the other hand, sounds like something that you buy when you cannot afford a proper phone (sorry LG users). I think for me to seriously consider buying the LG Star, it needs to be WOW. Like really WOW. Like "holy $%#@ where can i get one of that" kind of WOW.
