You're better of enjoying your full 7.2mbps with the 5GB.
Anyway don't even think of torrenting and leeching with mobile broadband.
With 42mbps, it's just a matter of minutes.

Anyone just noticed that your unlocked Huawei modems no longer work with uMobile networks?
My Huawei E1550 modem which has been unlocked with the Mobile Partner Dashboard can no longer connect to uMobile while my ZTE MF 627 could flawlessly. It used to previously. The Huawei USB modem is able to detect the network but fails when trying to connect. The server just doesn't want to authenticate it. |

Anyone tried out an unlocked Huawei E1550 or E1762 with UB40 plan yet?
It no longer works with Error 619 authentication whenever you try to connect. Network signal is able to detect. ZTE USB modems however work flawlessly. |

QUOTE(digilife @ Apr 14 2011, 01:52 AM) put your UM sim into a 3G fon and "force" the network settings to only WCDMA and see weather u can see UM3G, if yes means your area is covered by UM3G, btw where is your location? This is the problem that I'm facing recently, authentication gets rejected by UM network each time I tried to connect with Huawei USB modems.fyi, ZTE hav built lots of towers recently to facilate the launch of the 42Mbps in KL,Sban,Melaka and Ipoh Both E1550 and E1762 are affected. No such issues with ZTE modems. They connect flawlessly. Added on April 14, 2011, 6:35 pm QUOTE(9M-MAS @ Apr 10 2011, 10:40 AM) You're in Pasir Putih right? I'm leeching the signal off from your South in Batu Gajah. So basically same area I think... Your location is more towards the South section of Pasir Putih and might be on a different base station. It is a very large suburb with 6 different large areas. There is Lahat which is nearest to you. Then Pengkalan Station 18, Pasir Pinji Village, Pasir Putih, Jln Pasir Putih, Jln. Yang Kalsom(city centre). My area is in between both ends nearer to the city centre. This post has been edited by iipohbee: Apr 14 2011, 06:35 PM |

QUOTE(digilife @ Apr 14 2011, 04:14 PM) tomolo we will hav 42mbps launched at selected towns Looking at uMobile site everyone gets to trial the 42mbps speed provided they have the right equipment.rm68 for 5GB data, who can beat UM? Be it UB6 to UB68, you still can achieve 42mbps but with lower volume before it goes PAYU. http://www.u.com.my/broadband/plans Added on April 14, 2011, 10:00 pmSo the upgrade would be 42mbps DC HSPA+ for both Penang and JB While Klang Valley, Ipoh and Seremban (Central Regions) will be getting LTE? Now here comes the not so good news. If the LTE upgrade is true, then those of us who live within LTE coverage will not see much improvement for our existing HSPA modems because LTE is not as backward compatible as HSPA+ 42mbps. With a Huawei MiFi HSPA device, although I'm getting slightly improved upload speeds(around 300kbps), my downloads can never reach 2mbps as previously. All these even with full signal bars. If upgrades is in place, we should be getting something nearer to 5mbps but I'm no where near that. and by the way 500mb is a lot if you're going to use the SIM entirely inside a smartphone without teethering as a phone modem & watching Youtube on it. This is from experience that Youtube app is one of the highest consumer of bandwidth. Smartphone app downloads and news/weather updates won't take that much bandwidth. QUOTE(digilife @ Apr 16 2011, 01:45 PM) your location? The Huawei E372 will be obsoleted and will not perform optimally with uMobile's ZTE equipment.if its within the 42Mbps coverage, go for the E372 and u can play wat ever online game tat u wan Word has it that ZTE will introduce a newer DC HSPA+ modem soon which is the ZTE MF680 to uMobile. ![]() ![]() It is better to use the same modem brand with the equipment vendor for good compatibility reasons. Before this my oem ZTE modem seems to prompt out errors each time I click on the connect button.Had to clcick cancel 2 times before it resumed. However after the upgrade works it seems to have connected without the code error anymore. I believe we should wait for the new ZTE MF680 modem instead since all this time, uMobile supplied free ZTE usb modems with their old HDSPA plans. QUOTE(digilife @ Apr 16 2011, 02:08 PM) ZTE built the latest towers for UM DC HSPA implementation, i too thinking of buying the ZTE DC HSPA modem but its not available locally now I believe that's the work of ZTE's CPE marketing dept. to push for the introduction of the modem to uMobile eventually. you knoe where can get it? When pricing is set right it'll be more preferred choice due to its excellent compatibility with telco's equipment. If you still want to get it faster unofficially, this modem is now on sale in many European markets particularly Greece where they just launch it towards end of last month. Just give it some time.
When uMobile announced plans for 42mbps DC HSPA+ plans end of last year, this modem wasn't available yet. It was only launched commercially beginning last month. |

QUOTE(Quantum_thinking @ Apr 17 2011, 11:06 PM) Celcom full of hidden costs.Xpax claim to have 28sen 10 minutes pricing but take note of their call block. They are the only celco which caps speed based on all the package you subscribe and their plans are horribly messy. So many messy plans Xpax, Celcom Blue, UoX, SOX... Maybe their own management don't even keep track of all their promotions or planning. |

QUOTE(Quantum_thinking @ Apr 17 2011, 11:21 PM) My cousin coming back from Aussie use celcom and he is very disappointed with it. He say the call rate are too expensive. My cousin's family too from Aussieland. At first they wanted to buy the MiFi device for RM250 after they got attracted to the 1GB RM15 volume purchase they saw in the newspapers. It was outright misleading as that was just for additional volume top-up. You need to subscribe to a monthly plan first before doing so and the additional volume add on follows the same speed as your broadband plan. That was so misleading in the papers it was advertised at get 1GB of data for just RM15. The way they put their misleading advertisements, it was meant to catch careless consumers. |

QUOTE(karheng @ Apr 18 2011, 03:38 PM) i just got my U prepaid to testing at my house and office. Activated yesterday. Reload RM15 ( with RM5 preloaded ), now is RM20. Then go for RM20 broadband,300MB/month. Speed at USJ 21, 1.5Mbps Speed at Desa Sri Puteri ( Desa Petaling ), 11th floor also same average 1.5Mbps only thing is upload speed slow. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1257309476.png thinking to MNP my hotlink to U. Then go for RM28 package, with 500MB/100min/50 sms for my HTC smartphone.... low usage only just good for FB, little web browsing...at least NO EXTRA CHARGE after exceed 500MB, but still can get lower speed.... ![]() My download speed is about the same as yours.Don't know why it has gotten slower than last time. But the upload and ping rate has reach that of fixed line broadband networks. Upload speed is already maxed out because the max speed rating for my modem is 384kbps. So 360kbps / 384kbps does include overheads. The upload is 7 times faster than yours while ping is half of the usual figure. My only regret is the download speed. Can't seem to break the 3mbps barrier to prove that it's true 7.2mbps service. This post has been edited by iipohbee: Apr 18 2011, 06:38 PM |

uMobile is getting the 1 billion expansion funds it needs from the Singapore Investment Arm via S Technologies Telemedia(STT).
That's why they are agressive these days. |

Using HSPA capable Huawei mifi 7.2mbps modem, download speeds rarely hit above 2mbps and upload never exceeds 384kbps.
![]() I'm using a HSPA device and expect uploads which is close to 1mbps. Download is capable of upto 7.2mbps so speed of 4mbps+ is expected. Anyway I'm quite happy with the service. Too fast will also drain my montly cap fast. |
