Hi folks..its been a while since im here....

i got some question to ask...which is so weird...

I'm using my rig ;

Phenom II X4 940, DFI 790FXB, 4GB DDR2, 3x 320gb 7200rpm HDD..

my windows 7 x64 booting time was like more than 50 sec...which is kinda slow to me. (after windows logo come out)

during my fresh installation of W7 on my rig, the booting was around the same.

recently I build up economy rig for my uncle..here's the spec :

Athlon 140 2.7Ghz (Sempron, single core) , Asus m2N68-AM PLUS, 1GB ram ddr2, 1x 80GB hdd 7200rpm (was mine before)

and i installed windows 7 x86...the booting like was like...less than 15sec...which is darn fast. after windows logo come out)

what the cause of my booting time alot slower than my uncle's rig?

Does number of HDDs play part on my slow booting time?

p/s: both use W7 professional, mine using ori key.

I think it's because you've installed a number of software in your own rig and your uncle's is still fresh.
*
My own rig doesn't have much software on startup, and not much software installed in it.

I still remember when my PC's was fresh , the booting time ain't this fast, still more than 40sec to get to the welcome screen

depent what size remaining in primary partition
*
Humm..probably? I'll try remove my downloaded stuff to my other partition and see how it goes.

15sec??This is impressive..can break ssd record...
Maybe due to 32bit or 64bit?
*
Lol...ain't ssd booting time like 10sec?

from open up switch to the welcome screen...was like 16~18sec
the windows loading time itself aroud 13~15

i'm sure abt 32bit vs 64bit here...

actually you mean from the start of powerbutton to full load window? or after the bios post to full load window? if powerbutton, because ur mobo got more features plus if you got more hdd it takes a times to fully load the feature as well.
*
after POST to full load windows

Hmmmm been doing some repairs on a few of my office pc recently, what i notice is that in my office pc's that has its system partition with 50% or more free space, the windows loading time would be much quicker even tho the pc's with maybe 30% free space has a slightly bigger rams or better cpu.. hmm.gif

Plus if u can disable any unused items like eg: serial ports, parallel ports etc also..
*
my C:\ right now have 68GB free space out of 102GB, but the booting time still doesn't change.

Humm, i'll try to disable the unused ports..(which the uncle's PC have much more unused ports than mine)

QUOTE(hengmy @ Jul 24 2010, 08:44 PM)
You should start compare when the window logo started to come out because different motherboard have difference POST time.

*
Yes, I compare the booting time after the windows logo started to come out
