it IS awful. i set all the settings to minimum because i'm on an old machine with a couple of bottlenecks; a celeron 850mhz cpu, and 256mb of ram(plugged inside the only slot that's working).
i'm still thankful i have the old geforce4 mx. i don't know when i'll be able to get myself a new machine, my dad isn't being very supportive. anyway,as you can see in the top left corner, i'm in the international district. international district is a district accessable to everyone from the US, europe, and korean servers, and is usually the least crowded of all. i don't need the crowd of people lagging down my machine even more ): |

QUOTE(huix @ May 9 2005, 11:29 AM) i think this game is perfect made up of gank guild type of playing. In daoc, there are elites gank guilds that form up 8 person roaming and trying to search other party (risk of meeting enemy zergs force, however, we sometimes can defeat them even we are outnumbered 1grp vs 2grps) to fight. what the... hey you can't gank in guild wars you know?To form up this type of guild, there must be a leader who knows the game mechanic well and assign the template/class to each person who knows how to play that class. For example, in daoc (i only knows daoc gank group setting), it is normally 4 supports 2 tanks 2 casters or 4 supports 3 tanks 1 casters (unless u run full tank groups, 4 tanks 4 supports, 4 supports includes 2 main healer class i.e. cleric/druid/healer. main healer class is the best healer in the realm) So, in GW, i guess there must be at least 2 monks. 1 healing monk, 1 protection monk,if you want more healing, another healing monk for backup healing when 1monk kena wacked. another supports are normally crowd control class (mez, fear, root, snare) - which class combo can give full crowd control spells? I am notplaying GW yet, but i will buy soon hehe tanks - DPS intend, chase enemy supports. The main assist (the target picker) must be good enough to find which is the first target to hit. I was a blademaster in daoc, i saw noob tanks trying to hit us while we chaseing their supports and we depends on our supports to heal us / root them and mez them. casters- pure DPS. boom boom boom, however, a good mage is always trying to find a good hiding spot and then start to nuke target. I saw many wizard trying to rush in front and cast nuke and the enemy assist tank hit on him while the healer trying to waste mana to heal him coz of his weak armor will suck dry the healer power real fast. There was many times that we group with some American nice mage player, when battle start, i never see him in my screen but keep watching his blast to our target (he assist to nuke to our tank target to kill faster), when battle finish, i only see him appear... really good mage. He said he normally like to go up the mountain wall, behind a tree, lower ground, anywhere enemy tanks hard to find him, then when he secure a spot, then start to decide either who to kill or assist the tank target. Another crucial thing, get team speak or ventrilo for better communication. by the time u finish typing, you are mostly feared/rooted/mezzed. may be we can form up a gank guild in future |

no, the in-game preorder special item.
if you created an account using a preorder serial key, you can use the /preorder command at any time to claim your special item. |

pft, i don't worry about gold much. i'm level 16, but i haven't even reached lion's arch yet. i'm taking it slowly and enjoying exploring the areas. if i go out and kill without my henchies, i can easily make a few platinum pieces within a few runs.
so yeah, i haven't finished frost gate mission yet, hiked on foot to the gates of kryta, and have no idea whatsoever what you're talking about. never seen a drake before. and don't spoil it. |

QUOTE try not to do mission with henchies.. playin with real players is more fun. i disagree. everyone enjoys the game their own way, and i find the game enjoyable enough with 1 or 2 really close friends, and filling the rest of the party with henchmen. |

stop rushing me guys. i haven't even done kryta's gates yet, sheesh. the missions are still pretty easy doing with henchmen, and as for the later missions, i'll worry later.
i think i'll fool around for a while. the kryta mission is filled with undead monsters, so i'm now trying to come up with a smiting build that can solo(even without henchmen), just for the challenge. |

Mo/E? i'm one, haha. the only difference between getting Mo/E and E/Mo are:
1. E/Mo gets energy storage, which increases energy capacity, while Mo/E gets divine favor, which is kinda useless unless your build is a full time healer. 2. E/Mo gets to use Elementalist runes, while Mo/E gets monk runes. (http://www.gwonline.net/page.php?p=112) 3. different sets of armor. elementalist gets different sets of armor that has resistance to a particular element. they also get headgears that have +1 bonus to any one attribute. monks get head paints that have +1 to monk attributes. i used to regret picking Mo/E, since i hardly use my divine favor at all, and extra energy would mean more nuking with my spells, but i don't anymore. being a monk primary, i get to use monk runes, and with a Rune of Superior Smiting Prayers, i have 16 in that attribute(12 max, +1 from head paint, +3 from rune), and i totally rape undead mobs. i'm not exaggerating though. in the Gates of Kryta and D'alessio Seaboard missions, most of the monsters are undead. my smiting prayers made them really easy. i finished both with just 1 healer henchman, just the 2 of us. |

i almost have enough health boost to compensate for the rune; minor vigor rune, +20 health staff wrapping, and soon i'll get a +19 health staff head, if all goes well. any of you have a +25~ health staff wrapping of fortitude though? i'll trade for a rune or something.
i guess the main reason i don't play a healer is because i might not be responsive enough to keep everyone alive. my computer really is old. the snow at the mountains was bad enough, but now there're trees and bushes and leaves... i know if i party with complete strangers and let them die, i'd get all sorts of "man you suck!" or something, which is why i only play with fellow guild members. which sucks. because apparently a week or two after the launch, most of my friends got tired of the game, and then have to study for their finals, and kinda stopped playing... oh well. |

there're these 2 girls, and i guess they prefer simple straight forward grinding and being able to look pretty over something "difficult" like guild wars... is it really difficult, to at least think ahead a bit before rushing into a huge mob of charrs?
i guess i understand why people always say girls only play the sims... This post has been edited by nub: May 20 2005, 12:50 AM |

oh you know i wasn't being serious.
it's a pity though. i only got to play with them once, since they got a week headstart, i needed some time to catch up to them. though they asked me to join them on rose after the wipe, i just can't stand the clunky interface anymore. oh well. |

stop picking on my post already. i said that i wasn't being serious.
i never said anything about girls being weaker or whatever. was mainly just saying how the simple, cute rose managed to get my friends' favor even after playing guild wars. sheesh girls... always the nitpickers (^ no, not being serious) This post has been edited by nub: May 20 2005, 11:18 AM |

QUOTE these 'runes' are drops? hehe... me still kinda new to the game. the origins of runes are still a mystery, but as far as we know, monsters are already using them. they have them equipped in their armor, so sometimes you'll get some "salvage items" that are unidentified. when you identify one, you'll discover a rune. which is still stuck inside the armor piece. to get it out, you should use an expert salvage kit, and you have a chance of successfully getting it out. sometimes the salvaging fails, and you only get bolts of cloth or something else.
