i tried JP3 before. y u asking?

No problem here with Handcent. Notification can be disabled in the default messaging app, but the 'delete old messages' checkbox is checked no matter how many times I uncheck it.

i am having the same problem as you...dont know hot to solve it yet..

Exactly what I meant - I can open the default messaging app and I can disable all notifications in it. I'm using the pre-rooted JP3 firmware by paul@modaco, not the base JP3 found on samsung-firmware web, so maybe that's why your experiences and mine differ.

but problem is i dun have any file name sd card..i tried borrow my friend sd card and i put in it..it stil cant detect..

does any1 noe whether the TTDI or the sunway branch has a test unit for the fone? coz i went to gardens, they only haf the dummy set.. and KLCC is too far and packed..

i did download my/sg DXJG4 and hk/tw ZSJG4 though. but the DXJG4 file is only 122mb which is quite strange becoz never seen such a small sgs firmware before. then i read somewhere that the file is corrupted. so in the end, decided to flash the hk/tw version, i figure this is the next best thing...since it also has support for chinese input.

unless someone here who has has updated from kies can upload their copy

if you're gonna flash a jg4 version, suggest you update the local version. unless you are looking for indian language support

tested the phone today at the booth... not quite impress me to take it leh... why... can give reason?

i tried again flashing I9000ZSJG4.. after all done i still get stuck at the black screen.. tried doing factory reset.. still d same.. startup screen then nothing... have gone thru all the steps on flashing firmwares showed in this thread as well as xda forums, but it still doesnt work.. anyone who can give advise?? thanks in advance!

yup.. using d correct files.. using pit 512 as advised on samsung-firmwares.com.. theres only 1 file which is PDA file.. black screen right after d startup screen with S logo.. cant do anything.. have to remove battery and put it back in, turn it on, still d same...

Right. What different between region is just the extra software packaged in the firmware and also regional specific data like Telco setup info and language. The base still the same.
For example, DX (Mal/Sing) have Asphalt game while other might not have.

DXJG4 for sure. The other i tried is either XXJP3 or XWJM5. What is your firmware?

so how the ddjg4 firmware? is it fast enough?
can compare to other firmware that you have flashed?

Anyone notice when using mobile internet, specifically under 2G mode only, the screen flickers when sending/receiving data.very noticeable if the background is white. Btw im using JG4
