I mean, why would the extended warranty for new Forte only and not for all?
Maybe the later batch is more prone to problem?
*
coz same like singapore. some batch (after some months in 2009) didn't get the extended warranty. dont ask me why. i dunno. maybe it's just the company policy.

As an appreciation to early birds, Proton will be offering a 2 year (50,000km) free service package worth RM1,658 including parts and labor to those who take delivery of their brand new Proton Inspira for bookings made by the 15th of November 2010 that are delivered before the 31st of December 2010.

talking bout 2 years service for inspira..
there is always a loophole in the agreement.. only if they remove the 2nd clause will be much better.
if not, if they could not deliver, customer cannot sue them... nice move there... mad.gif

this time i agree 100% with cyber. good thoughts there.
and past kia history also play part in the evaluation.

then i've another question.

will insurance company quote 55K also for forte when we renew insurance?
or will they quote high price? what i know is when we claim insurance, they will follow market value..

so who's determine the 2nd value for new car?

insurance or market demand?

First of all, the insurance premium quoted will always be much higher than the actual vehicle value. Thats why when u renew insurance, you should always do your own homework and find out the market value of your car and then tell the insurance company to quote based on that value. Dont let them tell u the value cuz it will always be higher since they want more premium

Secondly, insurance companies have their own evaluators and adjusters. They usually have a master list of vehicles in Malaysia with prices for various years and models. The same as Toyota has for all their models according to the age.

you know what, last time when i lost my wira due to theft, the Kurnia agent ask me to get the 2nd market value from manufacturer. doh.gif that is the first time my experience in claim. Proton people laugh at me coz no such thing 2nd market value determine by the manufacturer. blush.gif

QUOTE(yngwie @ Oct 15 2010, 08:13 AM)
posting on behalf of a friend which is planning to upgrade his almost 1 year old 1.6 forte ( end of 2009) for a 4wd cx-7 (due to sudden work requirement).
he went to a few used car evaluator and to his shock, they value his car at less than 55k!
mileage was around 3x,xxxkm. bought cash.
btw, we know korean car are notorious for it's drop in resale value but this is just too much for a newer model like the forte.
anyone can confirm the 2nd hand value of the forte?

thanks in advance.
*
1) its the car dealer quote to buy from your friend. if sell direct to potential customer you could get higher value (i.e. rm55K (car dealer quote, maybe they sell at rm65K). so you could expect rm65K roughly for market value.
2) its 2009 car. already near 2 years in market (regardless months that u bought) - cyber already explained this
3) for 2 years car rm82K (assume it's 1.6SX), then 82 - 65 = 17K lost. its expected to lost more in 1st year and 2nd year.
4) your car color also give small contribution. grey is the safest color and they always quote higher for grey. grey = easy to sell its a universal color for all cars (dont flame me i read it somewhere, maybe there is truth in this). maybe white will fetch higher value for forte because demand for white is highest among other color
5) there is not much owner selling their forte, as at now maybe less than 10 units.
6) car dealers maybe sceptical in why your friend want to sell the car regardless of any reason that he gave. suspicious no 1 always = accident, no 2 = flood, no 3 = unknown problem
7) to know the real market value for forte, need to wait 3 to 5 years more. that is when owner will ditch their ride and hunting other new models in the market and where lots of reference to market value could be made.

don't flame ya.. just a thought to share will all..

8) also to add, maybe the first few 50 owners who sold their rides are the benchmark. how high you could hold the selling price. coz market value is depend on the average selling price. not the lowest and not the highest you can sell.

Yes, it is metal contracting sound that coming from exhaust. Once you switch off your engine, go to open your engine hood. you will notice where is the noise came from (watch out for hot surface).

This also happen on BMW certain models. According to them, it doesn't matter. but you could try to ask sc fix this if you find that is annoying.

taken from manual under title STARTING THE ENGINE

edit:

When the stop lamp fuse is blown, you
can't start the engine normally.
Replace the fuse with a new one. If it
is not possible, you can start the
engine by pressing the ENGINE
START/STOP button for 10 seconds
while it is in the ACC position. The
engine can start without depressing
the brake pedal. But for your safety
always depress the brake pedal before
starting the engine.

CAUTION
Do not press the ENGINE START/
STOP button for more than 10 seconds
except when the stop lamp
fuse is blown.

dunno what is the caution all about. but someone did try the above method without pressing the brake.

52 litres full tank x1.85 = ?

can go how many km.....this is very subjective. Depends on your foot. For 1.6, u can easily go beyond 500km if you r light footer. Someone correct me if I am wrong. tongue.gif
*
52L is the exact full tank capacity. however you didn't drive until no single fuel drop right? in average 44L only when you refuel after the empty tank indicator lights up.

for FC you should expect between 450KM and 550KM for 1.6 (mixed city and highway drive). this is just a rough figure and stock condition and based on few owner's feedback.

after mod of course you could gain more mileage.

p/s: my personal record

mixed city & highway always 530 ~ 550KM per full tank

100% highway = 630KM (left 70KM estimated before empty)

When using the car in city (daily commute to work), my full tank never exceed 450km. Am using BHP95 too. Not much traffic jam in the journey and the distance is about 15km one way. Guess my right foot is heavy.
*
what is your mileage bro? it will better when over 4K km.
and what engine oil you use? mineral or fully synthetic?
