Hi, newbie here...have used Hero for past 6 month, just upgrade the 2.1 official OS last night thru their FOTA, it takes almost 2 hrs to complete.

Just switch your Wifi and the notification will appear on your screen.

currently running on villainrom 12...
problems faced : some of my previous apps like hancent and mixzing cant be intalled. Says installation unsuccessful. When i click on it, it says insufficient storage available...but i have plenty of memory left..help?

Bro boxcar-ST,

Try reboot your Hero.

Else, add this line to your update-script



Resign and reflash your VR12.

This is true only if you cannot install from the Market at all.

Anyone on CyanogenMod 5.0.8? It's awesome on the N1. Wonder how does it fare on a Hero. I saw you replying to the thread on xda ,LEVI. Did you try it out?

I'll definitely flash to CM6 once it's final. The RC1 right now is not that stable. CM5.0.08 is Eclair but uses Froyo radio.

FroydVillain seems quite buggy, at least the camera is working.

I'm still with VE4. I tried FroydVillain, but meh I'm not impressed. Laggy and buggy.

I guess I'll stick with VE4. Anyway, RuduG's VE & CE are top performing ROM according to shokkapic's benchmark.

hmmmm... previous i was using villainrom 10 was automatic setting,

I'm not sure bellow step using android tools adb will help you or not, you may give a try

1. adb.exe shell
2. cd data/data/com*telephony/databases
3. sqlite3 telephony.db
4. You can see the table that needs to be updated by typing:
select * from carriers where name = 'Production';
(you don't have to do that, it just an additional step for you check existing APN)
5. update carriers set mmsproxy='202.75.133.49', mmsport='80', mmsc='http://172.16.74.100:10021/mmsc' where name = 'Production';
6. select * from carriers where name ='Production';
(to check the table was updated)
7. Reboot

Freeyo rom seems faster than Villain as mention from XDA

turn back to FroydVillain due to SD blank error.. i rather wait for the fix than format my sdcard..

ABout the speed..as Froyd kernal max to 748 kernal...
but im really satisfy with the current speed..which is 576...as long as it smooth.. sometimes OC cause my hero wakeup problem...let see what will happen next...

and hopefully had better battery life...cheers.

Thanks tenchi0205, but the link you provided doesn't have a direct download to the app. The QR code direct me to Market and search the app, which I did earlier. I don't have it in the Market. That's why I asked for the apk instead :-)

Running on cynogenmod 5.08 with 264/691 kernel ...quite satisfied by its speed and graphic performance. ...but I don't like the camera which is buggy and doesn't have a zoom function n live preview isn't working..music player is awesome tho..it's able to play all my flac n ape music without any lag even when surfing net n chatting

If you expect a better performing sdcard, get a better class then.

I dont think SanDisk has a class 10 (or 8 for that matter) MicroSD. Try getting a class 6 or at least a class 4. A class 2 is only good for goldcard.

ive tried searching for 8g sdhc microsd class 6 all over lowyat.... not one of the store there sell it..... and only got class 10 and its damn expensive

Hi, I have a unifi modem in my house. I just upgraded mine yesterday. Here's the problem. Everything is fine except for my htc hero cannot detect the unifi connection. It is running on radio n mix. n/g/b to be exact.

when the keyboard shows when u are typing, you will see on the left side of SPACEBAR, theres a button. just press it for few seconds and the settings will come out. you can then change ur settings from there to disablle the auto correction thinggy

the bottom problem izzit means the lower part of the screen not functioning/ unresponsive? i got the same problem as you 2 weeks ago and i sent it to SIS for warranty claim. It is free. Its the digitizer problem. i think it should be around few hundred. The best solution is to buy the screen from authorized retailer

I have decided instead of flashing my Rom back to original old one & update to the official 2.1, I will like to try flash to VillainRom 12.0.0 Final base on Andrew's guide.




I realised that I have AmonRA in my phone already (previously I did all the steps by following blindly instruction without fully understand them, just want to have MARKET) because I dare to trial & error when I first got the phone cause I do not need to worry bout losing any data (sms, call log, apps etc)

I have not flash any ROM for 1 year now... and there are many important things (apps , sms, etc) which I must ensure will not be wiped up when i flash to Villain Rom. My question is... If I just flash to Villiam using the AmonRecovery... Will my applications, Sms, other data be wiped out?

STEP D: Wipe Dalvik Cache+ Factory Reset.. = Basically im clearing my phone to Nothing?

Do I have to use different application such as "Sms Backup & Restore" and "My Backup and "APN Backup & Restore" to do a backup first.... > WIPE & RESET> flash to Villain Rom> REinstall all those Backup application.. to recover back all my sms & other applications? Will the WIPE & RESET to factory also wipe away my BACKUPED FILEs???

Im Sorry to sound so worrying because i really have a lot of question marks????? I just cant afford to do a mistake at this point... please advice. Thanks in advance
