You dont need 64-bit linux , 32-bit linux can see your 4GB+ RAM , it has PAE (Google for PAE). It "extends" the RAM , so the OS can see 4GB and above fully.

There is a limitation though , an application could only use up to 4GB of memory. Remember hwen you run an application , the application is limited by bits of the processor. So meaning that an application cant go beyond 4GB of address space.

Since you are not going to solve some computational stuff , its not recommended. Windows is bit funny

I am trying to get more people to jump to linux. Its the best thing to do , yeah i know its slow , and things. But when you jump and enjoy linux. You'll realize that windows is meant for stubborn program

Virtual ? Try VirtualBox - runs both on Linux and Windows ! Not recommended to "Virtualise" Linux in Windows. You can do the other way around and it will be more "secure".

Why did you even upgrade - stick with x32 windows 7. If you want to use 4GB of memory there is a patch. its enabled by default in server 2008 32-bit but in windows 7 it was disabled

I use OSX/Linux for work

Windows for gaming , cause steam needs Windows and steam for mac sucks. For instance if you use automatic graphics switching , nvidia gpu kicks in cause of flash. Its annoying , so i rather game @ windows

hv any nice AV in Ubuntu ? can the AV in Ubuntu detect the AV in window ??
Where to get spybot search and destroy ?? ^^

Huh what ? ubuntu AV ? Actually you dont need. Just use it,

Even if the doc file is infected with virus , you can open it , edit it. It will not damage your ubuntu. Viruses for Linux and Mac are low , so dont bother with anti-virus
