QUOTE(prasys @ Jul 27 2010, 05:57 PM) Well similar , there are slight variation on how ubuntu works. Basically you can install deb packages for debain to ubuntu , and it will work. It may rant about dependices , for instance ubuntu may install perl-1.8-ubuntu , the debian package wants a different version .Few others to take note dont really understand... can u explain in layman term??(never use linux b4, just suddenly this question come into my mind and i cant stop myself for asking XD) |

QUOTE(prasys @ Jul 27 2010, 06:25 PM) its like this okok, i get it now... thank youIn order for you to play a game, you need DirectX 11 (the game is dependent on DirectX) , you'll be also needing nvidia physX (For instance).Thats what about The thing is that at times linux is fuzzy about which verison , you can have many versions of the exact same thing. A good example is java , you could have two versions of java installed on your PC. The latest one and an earlier one as well. Its just to fullfil requirements of some program which may have been coded using older verison . DirectX does this by having DX9 , DX10 and DX11 frameworks so all the latest games can still able to access the new stuff and older games can continue to use their old framework |

QUOTE(BBXiong @ Jul 28 2010, 05:45 PM) yes u can install new software, basic stuffs u can check out the Synaptic Manager(with admin right), that's the general list of software available, the nice thing about Synaptic Manager is that it will automatically sort out dependency issues for you, so that u don really have to know which package is required for which software. synaptic manager... okok, i will try both compiz and synaptic managerby the way, Compiz is simple too, just adding a few effects to "wow" your usage experience, u can customize your effect, like when u minimize and open back, it's Zoom effect, and when u close a certain window, it will "burn" the window away, and have shadow with windows and stuff QUOTE(prasys @ Jul 28 2010, 06:14 PM) Go to youtube , type ubuntu compiz sound very fancy Have you seen MacOS X Expose and its 3d effects like wanna view all programs. Umm , what windows calls it , the windows + tab key. Cool Aero effect. Its something like combination of both for linux Its really cool and it does not suck like Aero. It even works with older graphics card ! Added on July 28, 2010, 6:16 pm No need OSX OSX just makes it easier to sniff , you need backtrack and willingness to learn and the right wifi adapter. Thats all OMG!! MY UBUNTU DOWNLOAD FINISHED!!! now trying to burn into a cd |

i know but i expect the default 1(Rhythmbox) to good... anyway, for mouse scroll click, can i change it to windows style?? i always press the scroll then move my mouse to scroll or hold the scroll click and drag instead of dragging the side scroll on the window
Added on July 28, 2010, 8:16 pm QUOTE(prasys @ Jul 28 2010, 08:14 PM) Its just to make windows users more familar. Again if you dont like , download the skin making tool and customise your own skin. You dont worry about it. Hate the program , compile it yourself. Modify the OS according to what you like agree 10000000000000000% with u. windows update can be very irritating sometimesThere is no stupid Windows update or AV which or system protection which prevents you to interfere with it.
