S-LCD is not a new product. S-LCD is just a name adopted for the panel that was manufactured by the join cooperation of Samsung and Sony few years back. Sony has since form a new joint cooperation with Sharp to better compete with Samsung.
This S-LCD is probably the PVA screen that Samsung is proud of because of the better depth of black compared to IPS. Nothing new. AMOLED is not new because two years ago, bought my wife a N85 which has AMOLED screen. Super AMOLED is new but I think switching from AMOLED to PVA, many will be able to sport the difference due to the stark difference in coloration.
Summary : To save you some reading I thought all the displays were really good, they all had decent colour and respectable viewing angles. The super AMOLED was noticeably less reflective than the others and was blacker with the best viewing angles. Super LCD had similar detail in the rock face video and had a superior horizontal viewing angle compared to a regular AMOLED display. The AMOLED had slightly better blacks (you can't tell from the video - sorry) and slightly better vertical viewing angles. Both Super LCD and AMOLED were very reflective.

Its S and not Super.
Anyway, if you wanna know how S-LCD looks like, just look at Samsung PVA LCD panel. I dont like it at all. If you want LCD based, should get IPS. Many whom went for Samsung panel (which is what Sony is using as well), just prefer the better black level. Nothing beats the IPS color if you ask me. You know what panel Apple is using?? IPS...
As for AMOLED, it would be foolish to say they look the same as S-LCD. Even an IPS panel look way different than AMOLED, let alone PVA. It boils down to how HTC calibrate S-LCD whether they will favor slightly more Red to reduce the difference to AMOLED.

Sometimes, applications/games is why people opt for iPhone. It just works. It's going to have some time before Android will do the same. Currently lots of companies (Latest example MAS Airlines) are making iPhone apps. This shows how important application is. That's what makes the phone interesting rather than the usual things you find on phones.
As for fluidity, none can match iPhone just yet. If did, just barely. But once Android is polished further, I'm sure it'll pass iOS4 in no time.

+1 thats y most ppl in malaysia say iphone good.. coz u dun need geek knowledge to install apps/games.. all u need is creditcard..
All marketing only... but software developer knows that Android is there too, that's why some apps come in 2 version....
thats y there is cydia.. haha.. free apps for everyone.. this is one of the factor ppl buy iphone.. if without jailbreak iphone is a piece of shit that sucks money.. my friend once told me if there is no jailbreak he wont even think of an iphone.. lol.. now he is using nexus 1 haha...
hmm nice videos..mind posting up some sample of AMOLED so we can see the difference.. hehe..
haha,, every video have different lighting so its difficult to compare unless a reviewer reviewed both SLCD and AMOLED side by side indoors. Lets just wait n search on that. Currently Telus r getting SLCDs on their desire in their stock. No news bout other carriers or other countries already got SLCD desire set currently in stock yet.

ok ok sry.. well i just sold my iphone 3g 8gb lol.. and im taking either legend or desire.. so the main reason for me to change to android is bcos i like to customize my own phone to my own style.. and i phone jus dont let me do it.. so thumbs up for android and htc.. haha..
In my opinion, this Android sub forum is good. At least not as strict as iPhone ones. In there, you can't even post negative stuff banning iphone, your post will mysteriously be deleted by the iphone fan boy mods. Repeated offence, and you will get a warning.
