So , can you explain why my graphic card so hot ?
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1579657
*
1) lag of knowledge of the product u're using.

2) does not utilized the CCC features nor features on 3rd party s/w.

3) lag of maintenance (cleaning & reapplying thermal paste)

4) lag of total understanding. (GPU has 120c threshold, 3870 is design to run @ ~90c on load with auto fan.)

Guys, any one of you encountered PSU not giving enough juice to your graphic card? What's the symptoms of not enough power like?
*
1) not powering up

2) restart during load

3) OC even a little will result in crash

Did you actually look into my other thread post ? If not i hope you will read it to help me out . Thanks . smile.gif

ur temperature is normal.
dat is wat u expect from OC version, wit slight voltage bump.
wit m'sia weather, dat temperature is perfectly fine.
probably long time dint clean fan or change thermal paste.
or maybe casing ventilation not good.

use ATI tray tools instead of rivatuner.
u can change clock speed & adjust voltage too.

I just wanted to fix my graphic card , that's all  sad.gif  , I dont know anything much , indeed my graphic card is hot at 60'c idle , so many years it's still hot staying at 60'c.

Sorry if I had offended when I speak . notworthy.gif

If you can kindly look into my thread post , the card I was using doesn't have power play.I had been asking but no one reply at all.So i try and ask here .

Any help really appreciate  notworthy.gif

no offence taken.
& i'm not criticizing o bashing u, i just lazy to type now, so type everything is pont form, straight to the point.

i read the thread edi, but i'll just reply here.

anyway, the reason behind no power play is bcoz ur bios is OC edition.
u dont hav to go through the trouble to flash bios if u;re not familiar wit it.
just use Ati Tray Tools.
create an idle profile, auto load that on startup.

If you flash your bios and get bricked, i don't think there's any way to recover it back.

for my own information, a card that is overclocked are designed to withstand that heat. OC version graphic card are tends to be more hotter since they produce high performance, and here's the trade off, you trade heat for performance. There doesn't have a OC card that is grants you more performance as well as less heat.

In my opinion, get over it, flashing bios is just flashing it back to default normal graphic card, and that means you will lost the performance gain.

So please do get all the information before you flashing bios, because flashing bios might be able to fix your problem but it's also will leads you to other problems.

still can be recovered.

can either blind flash bck, o hav the bricked card in the 2nd pci-e slot.

u can safely slide the GPU clock bck to, say 300MHz & 500MHz for memory.
for voltage, u can put lowest, i think shud b fine.

in comparison, my 4870 is running @ 100/200 @ 1.1vcore.

fan speed, adjust if u like.....

60c idle is all right, important is how bout load?

different bios has different fan speed setting on different load.
dat depends on manufacturer bios release.

maybe it was meant to idle @ 60c.
dat y even wen u downclock, fan speed auto drop.

but lotz of reviews out there proven benchmarks for lost planet 2 gtx460 spanked 5850 .. meanwhile i heard some forumers said that all those comparison shown that gtx460 higher benchmarks due to they manually overclocked the gtx460 kaw kaw to compare against stock speed hd 5850, is that true?
*
yes, dis is bcoz driver optimization hasn't been done, ATI say future drive release will promise to optimized on LP2.

btw, LP2 uses MT-Framework 2.0 engine, which is use in some other capcom game like RE5.
MT-Framework 2.0 engine always runs a bit faster on nvidia card.

but no need to worry since the engine is capable of producing good IQ wit well over playable frame rate.

dont be confuse....
the rumored performance, it is based on new naming scheme (if AMD shall go wit it).

the 6850 & 6870 is mid range product.
more like 5770 & 5830.

the performance, well, it is sufficient....

OC version or not, it's just a gimmick. Unless you really do appreciate out-of-the-box performance and do not bother overclocking on your own.
Actually at this point, I think what really matters are the coolers. Some people are naturally biased against reference coolers xD

Sometimes, certain brands do offer capacitors that are a lot better, but those usually cost a lot more. For instance the Gigabyte SOC, or MSI Lightning. These appeals to overclockers who wants to challenge the limits with their ultra-pimped up configurations =P

Just my opinion.
*
it depends......

sapphire offer a nice vapor chamber cooler, but dint allow voltage control.

u wan something like MSI lightning o ASUS TOP which provide voltage control + more power phase.

Makes it sound more like a gimmick >_<
Owh, there's also Metro 2033. I think Dirt 2 and Battleforge are better DX11 titles. And maybe even Civ V, although it doesn't actually look that great.

256 rops. That's scary isn't it? xD
Ever wondered how long a 5990 would be if not for the introduction of the HD6000? =P
Just not too long ago, ATI was just like that!

Thought Shader 5.0 was supposed to be established with the RV800 and the GTX400 series....
Hardware progresses too fast!!! Try name me 20 DX11 games >_>

people assume it dat way bcoz:

pcie lane - supply 75w
6 pin connector - supply 75w
8 pin connect - supply 150w
total = 300w

just bcoz people see 6970 is 6+8 pin, people assume it's gonna draw 300w.

ATI AMD Radeon guys simply just wanna mek sure it has room to oc la.

it's not fail chip, it's "defective chip".
every GPU has his own younger bro.
this is to save cost & up the yield.

5870 has 5850 & 5830, GTX480 has GTX470, 4870 has 4850, gtx280 has gtx270, & 6870 has 6850.

it's a common practice.
