its a subjective matter, for me, i look at the "bola-bola" bokeh.. non irritating ones would be quite smooth at the edges of the 'bola', without a suddenly brightness increase, the transition outwards will be smooth blends in well with the neighbouring 'bola'.

u have to understand the difference between shutter and aperture blades.. both controls the light, but in different manners. only the aperture blades determines the bokeh

nope. it depends on the aperture blades.

generally, the more blades the smoother the bokeh. correct me if i am wrong.  laugh.gif

not entirely true. if thats the case, every single lens manufacturer will put 9999 blades into their lens design d...
it also takes into consideration of the lens element design and light transmission path. taking into account diffraction and the physical size of the barrel. balancing weight, diffraction, coma, CA, f-stop and a whole lot others that i cant remember now.

MechaHerc, i think what he meant was, the physical aperture itself in determining the bokeh, not in technical terms..

same sentiments as wha7ever, at that pricing, sony's 85mm wouldnt be able to take the sharpness reign from the sp90 for sure. and for me, 2.8 is still not too favorable for low light.

i'll hold up and see how it turns out 1st before making any conclusions.

50mm really a bit tight for me on APS-C.

nevertheless, waiting to see what can de 35mm do before deciding. biggrin.gif

Added on July 27, 2010, 11:20 pmcorrect me if am wrong, but 35mm is the focal length of our eyes right? hmm.gif

QUOTE(signither @ Jul 27 2010, 11:26 PM)
i'm looking somewhere on that range. 35mm might be too tight dy. kinda like the 20mm but very hard to find.

p/s: bout the siggy, maybe u should make customised button on each item, more organised and easy on our eyes. lol.

shootkk got one, not cheap though

will work on the siggy button, now i just kopipes from what i have only. good suggestion
