i set as shutter  priority, so get as much ambient, ntg to do with gears. I could bump up shutter, jz flash would fire harder, thats all

Added on July 24, 2010, 9:58 amits not always about gears viking
Well, I beg to differ. If you could increase the ISO a little more, increase the aperture a little more, increase the shutter speed a little more, you'll most probably manage to avoid the blurry shots and capture the ambient lighting instead of getting a shot with blurry subject with dark background. Firing the flash harder will only make your picture go worse with subject brightly lit and a dull dark background.

Hmmmmmm good idea. LAter got time, I do 5D vs NEX at ISO6400. But hard to tell the diff oso coz 5D using uber lens n 21mp. NEX using lauya lens n 14mp. SOftness or whatever caused by lens but cud b mistaken as softening caused by noise reduction n lauya lens.

IQ cannot compare lor. NEX where can even come close to FF with uber lens?

use the rule of reflection. the angle of incidence equals to the angle of reflection. so another words, the flash should be directed to somewhere in the centre of you and subject given that the flash is in bounce. i usually use A in normal shooting, and S if i want my shutter to stay at around 1/25 ~ 1/40 to take in ambient light. manual in cases where both the former modes give wonky metering results.
