I've got a Garmin 60CS and a Garmin GPS V. My 60CS is going back to the shop soon as the USB port broke. The speed is quite accurate compared to my Ranger but it does vary 3% with different tyres.I'm using the maps from malsingmaps.com. Holux is a BT GPS receiver right? What are you using to communicate with it? You should be able to use the Garmin maps. |

Nope...mine one is built in directly with pda functions....tried it on kl roads that day...quite accurate to the point of small lanes in kl....best thing is i can install the media player and watch dvd movies on it too...I'm using the maps from malsingmaps.com. It depends on the source of the maps..I know of a company selling holux with m'sian maps pre-loaded in. the maps are produced by a local company and is quite detail for KL. It only offers major details for other major towns. I think they cost about 2k If your device is wince based, you should be able to load the free maps from malsingmaps.com in but you would need another software written by a guy in Singapore. I'm not sure what he was charging now but I think it was like USD20 before. This post has been edited by jovial: Feb 1 2006, 01:33 AM |

having testdrove hilux and d-max i can agree that hilux have better interior and features. but to me looks are very subjective.
the reasons i'm going to pick d-max are because: 1) fuel efficiency. isuzu's diesel has been known to be extremely frugal. no exception here. a friend of mine who own a 3.0 manual can last almost 1,000 km on the 76-liter tank combined environment driving. that's about 13 km PER liter or 7.6 cents per km. before engine break-in it's less efficient, around 800 but once it hits 10k, the engine starts to show its superior fuel economy. 2) engine reliability. isuzu's diesel engine although of lower tech is designed to be operational with OUR grade of diesel fuel. i've heard cases (2 exactly) where new hilux fuel injector had to be totally replaced after certain mileage (> 50k - 60k) because of the amount of sulfur clogging up it's nozzle. the engine is good but sadly, our fuel isn't. i guess that is why isuzu haven't bring in common-rail tech here although japan's isuzu already have beyond common-rail tech available on its production vehicles. 3) gawd. hilux is so slow in overtaking cars because of the lower horsepower. i've floored the accelerator and still couldn't get the truck to accelerate fast enough. with the way i drive, that horsepower limitation is going to drive me nuts. frontier has better output but would only reach its top at 4k. more or less the same effect as it is with hilux. isuzu is slightly better but at least i don't feel i'm going to be hit by incoming car. 4) i'm going to be utilizing the 4x4 because on weekends, the truck is going to be working on a kampung area with hilly and muddy terrain transporting goods and goats. 5) isuzu is less common in malaysia. maybe i can get hot chicks on it. toyota is so passe. funny because i had shortlisted hilux and frontier earlier only to be blown by having seen a d-max in action. literally lah! say, any hilux owners hear a noice every time you go over a bump?
I finally figured what was making the noise...put some styrofoam in there and no more noise! it's the front bumper area.. Can't seem to figure out how d-max can do 13km/litre.. I thought it's the model is the 2.5 litre 2WD version that managed to do it? Not the 3.0L version. It's better mileage than a sedan! |

perhaps i can attest to that once i get mine. the sales sheet says 15.18km/litre for 3.0, 17.++ for 2.5. my friend managed to get 13km/litre after break-in, 10.5km/litre before. can't tell about his driving behaviour though. probably it's 60km/h all the time!. i figured the point in making is that d-max engine can be very economical under right circumstances.

i just put 2 of my 12" woofer with box into my hilux, unbelieveable ler,it is put behind rear seat, very nice sound,it is just straight forward, very sad is that day i forget to sew the seat cover properly so now got abit "longgar"so i can take out the rear seat to sew again bcos the rear seat is hardly fix back bcos the woofer are thick,i willl ony got chance when the seat cover is really longgar then i'm forced to take out the rear seat and sew again, haih
about D-max,i not really sure the FC ler,as for me my FC will vary with my style of driving,if i rev until 3K RPM then makan minyak lo,now i rev until 2.5K RPM so get more KM per liter,it is possible to rev 2K RPM but no pick-up ler,as HP are low Today go accessories shop, the boss got Black Hilux, the modded the Hilux for RM3+K(thirty plus thousands). His rim and tyres already RM12K,20" rim with Goodyear Tyre(made is USA),original hilux rim is 15".Then he put blow-off valve and diesel heater.Adjustable absorber and sport lid.Alot of accesories there, the place is at Senawang, all the way just go straight after exit Senawang Toll, just at the left hand side after u had passed 2 traffic light. He also tell me next month he will get a ECU which cost about RM4K,the his hilux turbo can boost until 1.12 BAR (original is 0.78 bar),so 3rd gear also can spin tyre. |

But I can't drive under those circumstances on PLUS QUOTE(LJS @ Feb 12 2006, 08:46 PM) about sound i got ler, when going to uneven road got yek yek sound ler, sometimes going tru bump also got,the accessories shop boss say his hilux got rok rok sound when braking, ahaih,so sien new hilux got sound no more sound liao! where the front number plate is..stick a 1cm thick piece of styrofoam in there. not between the number plate and the bumper. put the styrofoam between the fiberglass bumber and the metal bumber just behind the number plate area. Uh, a bit hard to understand but i hope u get the idea. This post has been edited by jovial: Feb 13 2006, 06:34 PM |
