D90 already start clearance sales in US. Expect replacement model soon. smile.gif))

The D90 replacement is definitely this year, sooner or later. I'm suspecting it to be announced during photokina.

or possibly most D90 users might sell off their D90 for the new 1, then got lots of 2nd hand D90 in the market lol.

Lovely Ginny! Nice one, good pose and she appears to be very cute =D

A bit dark on her face, but I saw the reflected flash and it's still nice ^^

Well, she's under the hut + wearing a hat.. so lighting is quite tricky. If flash goes more it will be real harsh. Currently flash is soft enough for portrait hehe. I'll post one without the hat tongue.gif.

The skin tone for all your photos are really natural and good, no orangish tone and wont be too pale either. You didn't PP too much for skin tone right?

I'm still having a hard time shooting portrait with bounced flash, still having some harsh flash during lowlight =X

I adjust white balance to what I want, voila smile.gif. Once the skin tone is correct, the white balance is usually correct... if you see my previous shots, quite a lot I screw up on white balance hahaha! Shy je~ At least now I'm able to get better skin tones. *Got improvement! hahaha~*

how does the flash know the distance of the wall it's bouncing from? unsure.gif
*
i think TTL doesn't work by measuring the flash distance from the wall.
if i am not mistaken.
it create a preflash when you press the shutter, then ur camera sensor read it, and then immediately the camera feed back to the flash by telling the flash the preflash output is too strong, or too weak. then the flash adjust it's power automatically.
and then the main flash fires, the shutter only open by that time. with auto adjusted flash power that has nice exposure.
that's why it's call TTL, Through the Lens.
means the measurement of the flash output is through the DSLR lens itself.
not the flash

Eh mentioning abt pre-flash, i wonder why my previous D40 and my D90 don't have any pre-flash everytime I shoot, either with pop up or nissin di622. I am glad there's no pre-flash because with pre-flash, it doesn't capture immediately after I press the shutter, it pre-flash then only capture.

That's what happening on my friend's D3000 pop up flash, I get annoyed and don't want to use D3000 =X

pre-flash as in double flash?
like red-eye reduction flash mode?

Digital TTL works as follows: Before the actual exposure one or more small flashes, called "pre-flashes", are emitted. The light returning through the lens is measured and this value is used to calculate the amount of light necessary for the actual exposure. Multiple pre-flashes can be used to improve the flash output. Canon refers to this technique as "E-TTL" and has later improved the system with "E-TTL II". The first form of digital TTL by Nikon was called "D-TTL" and the improved variant nowadays is called "i-TTL".
