Either that, or judge from the histogram. This one the most accurate as it doesn't care if your LCD is calibrated or not. The histogram appears the same all over.

Is it true? |

Histogram only serve as a guide, any clipping on either edges means there is lost details due to shadows or highlights. But of course, there is no histogram that will suite all images. It depends on what you want
.I usually use highlight preview to see if I've blown any or not. |
