GoT is based on adaptation of the SoIF books, I'll be the writers must have a hard time squeezing all those extra characters into the series

S1 is pretty easy for them, and it's almost exactly the same like the book1
S2 they've changed the timeline of some incident, took out a few important characters, add in some new twist
I wonder how they are going to do with the next few seasons?
as GRRM adds more new characters faster than the he killed the existing characters

oh yeah... until now I still wonder why in the show, they didn't create Tyrion with discolored eyes just like in the book
as it's very easy to do with just color contact lens
and with Tyrion's discolored eyes, I'll bet it will add in some extra dept in some of the scenes

S1 Beric screen time is only that few seconds, I doubt they put much effort in the casting of that characters
almost any tom d*** or harry can fill that role then

since he'll make more appearance in S3, they'll need someone with better acting skill than the backup actor they cast in S1

Similar to The Mountain they cast in S1, they use a diff actor for S2
which most of the viewer preferred the S1 cast of The Mountain

I'm more interested to see Thoros & his flaming sword on screen


well... as the series goes, don't be surprise if they change some actor/actress in diff season
as usual those long running characters will demand more and more in the future season, most studios are known to kill off those characters on screen when they asked too much of a raise
but since GOT is based on book, and most of the recurring characters are the main cast, i doubt HBO can change the plot to kill off those characters if they want, they'll just find another cheaper actor/actress for the role in the new season, which is not unheard of

maybe the producer are worried if they follow squarely from the book, once GRRM drop dead *touch wood, they won't have new story to continue on
but in current case, even without GRRM, they still can continue with their own original make up story

anyway... I'm fine with the altercation of TV series too, even if they stray far away from the original plot (not too ridiculous plot pls like Ned fake his death ) , I'll still watch them

Now about 1/4 into Book4, now it all makes sense to me about HBO's decision of not sticking entirely to the book
after the reading the superb book3 SoS, FotC seems meek as it's missing most of the characters that viewers crave for.
If they made entire FotC into one season, I'll bet it's gonna be a disaster
So I think we can expect HBO mixing some of the plots from Book 3, 4 & 5 together in future season

Can't imagine Danny playing as a bard with a harp
Also with the casting of Hinds, I wonder how are they gonna do the Bard part IMO he's too huge n old to be a bard


yeah, the beginning is draggy... but 1/3 into it now... getting better
it's interesting to read Cercei's actual POV after what we perceive her to be in the past few books

there's another huge problem for the TV series as well if it splits into too many season, as the whole plot are suppose to be happened within a year or 2 only.
and the child stars they use are growing up very fast
Hodor suppose to carry Bran in his basket, but in S2 he's grown to big to get into basket so Hodor have to carry him in his arm
Not to mention Arya too...
by the end of the whole series, both of them would be teenagers liao...
I hope they don't change much of the plot or timeline or change actor/actress bcos of this issue

eh? most of the readers recon Book 3 is the best among the series, so much better than Book 1&2
once you've pick up book 3, you won't be able to put it down!

don't worry, you'll see a lot more of the dragons in S3, as they'll have very important roles in the Unsullied plot



HP different case lor... as each book/movie episode are corresponding to exactly one year of the timeline
so all together there's 7 books = 7 years = 7 HP films (not counting the part 1 part 2 and those filming back to back one lar )
so they actually count in the growth and maturing of the child cast

for GOT series, up until book5, the whole timeline only progressed roughly 2 years plus
so the series producer must change the timeline in order to adapt to the growth of the child cast
and their decision to split book 3 into S3 & S4 aren't helping much also
as HBO's resources only allowed them to film one season in a year, filming 2 season a year will be a very costly and taxing affair.

So starting from S3, i guess we can expect more major changes to the original story and timeline
and am looking forward to it

btw, how many of the book reader here are purist or the opposite?
for me I welcome the changes, I loved the S1 almost to the dot's original adaptation
also I welcomed the S2's changes and loved it too

not to mention GRRM wrote his characters in POV
where there's a lot of unspoken thoughts, which is very very difficult to portrayed on screen, having the characters to read out all the thoughts would spoil the show

with the introductions of so many characters, the producer will seriously need to trim down the story, else the audience will get very very confused

btw, OT a bit, some claimed The Borgais are as good as GOT, minus the fantasy part, true kah?

I think all the fans of GOT should try it out, it's interesting as your story will be intertwined to the main story, albeit you can't change the actual outcome of the main plots in GOT, and some of the choices in the quest are really tough!
