The white walker are a race of beings .. those images depicts different white walkers but essentially from the same race. Then there is also Wrights ... re-animated corpse under the control of the white walkers. That's why wildings kept saying burn the bodies.

I think Aaron Paul deserve that even though I never watch Breaking Bad.
Peter Dinklage still has many chances in the future if HBO adapt the whole book series.
In fact, I think a few actors will have good chance of winning it in the future.

Wow dude. You have to watch Breaking Bad! GoT and BB are two of the most awesome tv shows i've seen in a while. These 2 shows have set the bar so high that i can't bear to watch anything lesser.

Ahhh opener is so good. So many epic scenes and just enough mins to keep stuff heated up. But that Lanister son and father scene is immense and better than i first imagined it. Really good opener.

Sigh I already read about RW in the books but i still found the scene very difficult to watch. I don't know any other shows that has left me feel so utterly depressed and angry by the end of it.

This episode is going to be the most WTF moment so far in my life of watching movies, dramas...
To those who already read the book, is this series going to kill every characters? Damn it the entire series is developing bunch of character and making everyone likes them, and in the end everyone dies... vmad.gif
*
Not everyone. But rooting for a particular character is definitely a hazard in itself. There's just no telling who's next on the list. It all depends on which sides of the bed the author wakes up in the morning before he writes his chapters lol.

I adore and love the Starks but they never learned anything do they ? Ned Stark's brother was burned alive and his father strangled to death when they were naive enough to think they could negotiate with the Mad King.

Decades later, Ned Stark too succumbed to naivety when he thought honor and integrity could win the game of thrones. His head ended up on a spike.

By the time Robb has taken over the reign, surely he must have realized that the no 1 rule in game of thrones is simply to not trust anyone. It's both tragic and ironic that even the people he could trust with his life i.e. his mother, ended up playing some parts leading up to his demise.

no need to feel sorry, the shock while reading the book is more than watching the series, it's a lot more violent and a lot more disturbing...

for ppl who never read any kind of novels or literature, they won't know that their imagination and visualization of the brain is so much more real than using their eyes to watch a movie
*
That's true but i do admit that it's more visceral when you witness something visually rather than imagining it. The graphic violence and the expression on the faces of the victims will forever be tattooed in your mind. And the addition of killing Talisa and the way it was done is probably the most horrific and violent thing i've seen in the series. That was really brutal and would have affected even the book readers. It is soul wrenching regardless if you are reading it off the book or or watching it on tv.

I know Cat is not a popular figure among many fans and too once blamed her for everything. But thinking back, her motives had always been pure. She is driven by her maternal instincts and i can sympathize with that. The problem is that none of the Starks are politically driven. I would say Cat is probably the most political sensitive character among the Starks. She was a strong advocate for diplomacy and it was her that held the family together in Ned's absence and it was her that traveled all over Westeros to gain support. She made some mistakes as any humans would but it was Robb who played a major role leading up to the RW. I still believe the RW could have been avoided had Robb followed through on the initial agreement with Walder Frey. For me, Catelyn's death is the most tragic of all the deaths so far. No mother deserves to go through what she went through.

true, but it's not her motives i have a problem with, it's just her character.  anyway, Rob is a total shxthead that got too cocky.  he may have won a lot of battles but he lost the war.
*
We all have this expectations for Robb to do the 'right' things but we forget that the boy was only 16 years of age when he became the king of the north. He was always going to make mistakes along the way. I think the author set up the perfect scenario for Robb to fall at the end. At that age we were all guilty of infatuations and for Robb, Talisa was his only source of comfort.

Don't get me wrong the whole thing stinks of self righteousness but GRRM did make a compelling case for the Starks to fall the way they did.

He should have just marry the lovely Frey girl his uncle just did. Jon doesnt seem to be so naive as Robb so far  laugh.gif

Well they are all naive in some ways. Joining the Night Watch is pretty much a career suicide in Westeroos. Even his own uncle Ben found it ludicrous that he wanted to join the Night Watch. The Starks have this unflinching desire for honor that it blinds them but it also makes them very endearing because they represent the goodness in all of us.

He joined the night's watch because that was most likely the best option for him. especially since stark men have been known to join the night's watch of their own will in more recent times. Catelyn hated him so much she probably wouldn't have let him prosper. He would most likely never own lands or titles, unless ned stark or maybe their sword master (the guy theon killed) knighted him he would probably never be a knight. Being the "*******" of Ned Stark, the most honorable man in the 7 kingdoms wasn't helping matters as well. If Ned Stark had been like Robert Baratheon or some other character whom didn't care so much for honor then he might have had a slim chance of making something of himself without his "father's" single act of dishonor clouding over his head all the time.

Catelyn was just a selfish and impulsive character who did things the way she wanted. If she had left the whole "tyrion's knife" issue to ned stark NONE of what happened to them would've happened (but then again the story might have not been this interesting  tongue.gif ) and sadly most of the kids took after her (robb especially) attitude wise.
*
I don't doubt joining the Night Watch was one of the better options for him at that time. But the order was probably at its lowest point when he joined them. It was recruiting peasants, petty criminals and rapists. The standard was so low that most of Westeros see the Night Watch as a form of punishment. But you do bring up good points about his rather limited alternatives. I wonder tho if Robb had the power to knight or legitimize Jon in some ways had Jon been there with his brother.

In regards to Cat, i think it's a bit harsh to describe her as only selfish and impulsive. Sansa in season 1 is perhaps someone that matches the description. As i've said earlier, she was driven by her maternal instincts and a sense of duty to protect her children. Her decisions affected people and events but her motivation had always been pure. I don't necessarily agree with her actions but i respect her intent.

I know a lot of people feel the war resulted from Cat's decision to kidnap Tyrion but i disagree. The war was always inevitable. A lot of other things were already in motion despite her actions. Cersei was always going to kill Robert one way or another, just as Ned would have kept following the trail and eventually discover Joffrey's bloodline. Once Joffrey becomes King, all bets are off.

Yeah i'd prefer that too. Always found the Targaryen and the Valerian in general really interesting and mythical. Would be nice to see their civilization in all it's glory.
