QUOTE(cwee89 @ Jul 9 2010, 02:24 PM)
i bought my nikon d3000 few months ago and now i wanted to upgrade my gadgets.

so firstly, im thinking to buy a flashgun and also 35mm(50mm cant fit for d3000 cause no built in motor for d3000)
but now, im not sure which one i should go for first. the flashgun or 35mm?

and for the flash, im considering the nissin Di622 or Sunpak PZ42X. can anyone give me some opinion about it? or is there any other choices.. budget not more than 600 for the flash

i try my fren sunpak pz42x the other day but on my device the flash was not working properly. my fren was using 1000d
and i don know why that problem happened, he said it should be no problem

i need some help from the experts. thanks much
*

imo u shud get flashgun 1st. after dat only go for 35mm. not too sure bout sunpak performance, but most ppl prefer nissin.

QUOTE(megahertz @ Jul 9 2010, 03:07 PM)

guys. my lenses have fungi. sad.gif they're all at Least 45 years old. i knw it's expensive for lenses with fungus to be repaired because of the high tech coatings on the elements. but have any of you repaired a fungus infested vintage lens? i need pointers. especially on the pricing.

Thanks but I think 2nd pic's bokeh is very very harsh.  sleep.gif

It's not your fault, it's the lens limitation, you might have already done the best for that lens. Harsh bokeh doesn't mean bad photo, it's a nice photo =D

I still remember that time I went cameron highlands with my D40, was still new with it, I shot a closeup flowers with F11, all details no bokeh at all, but I don't think it's a bad photo =D

Owh found it ^^ Highlights overblown in the middle and too saturated XD

I don't know how to clean old lenses.. as far as my limited knowledge knows, I take a flashgun and flash directly into the lenses. The heat will kill the fungi. ohmy.gif

Flash directly into the lens is to prevent fungus growth and it's only applicable at early stages. For your 45 years old lenses, the fungi were there quite a long time, even though you kill them the remaining will still be there. Better send to shops to clean, IIRC it would cost a few hundred (depends on condition).

Thanks!

Can I flash my flashgun full force at a lens although it doesn't have fungus ?
Just like a precaution like that.

Can or not ?

Should be ok, it won't affect your lens. It will just kill the fungus.

Cool, just tried it on my compact... I did it while the camera is turned on LOL.
About flashing the lens, take the lens out or just shoot it while it's attached to the camera ?
