Detach it better, not sure when u attach it and flash, the strong light will affect the camera sensor or not.

QUOTE(latias93 @ Jul 10 2010, 12:50 PM) I don't know how to clean old lenses.. as far as my limited knowledge knows, I take a flashgun and flash directly into the lenses. The heat will kill the fungi. QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Jul 10 2010, 01:55 PM) Flash directly into the lens is to prevent fungus growth and it's only applicable at early stages. For your 45 years old lenses, the fungi were there quite a long time, even though you kill them the remaining will still be there. Better send to shops to clean, IIRC it would cost a few hundred (depends on condition). lol. yeah, 45 year old fungi ><emm, the other day somebody quoted the price to remove fungus from nikon lens to be min RM120. but removing fungi from modern lenses is really hard. cos of the coatings and the focusing issues. but i reckon old lenses wont have such coatings and this guy at a camera shop told said just now that the focusing shouldn't be that bad for manual lenses. since it's all manual and no algorithm behind the focusing and such. so should be cheaper right? still waiting for the call from YL's technician. he said will call today. but till now haven't called -.- i dint knw abt the flash thing. thanks for the info! i'll surely blast my lenses regularly now. |
