i also facing the same problem... running win7 64-bit -.- have to run it in my win xp (dual boot) only can update. but games download are damn slow now...getting less than 20kbps.

Hey noobfc, you suggested the fix above to somebody else's question before on moving the Steam directory to another drive. Any idea how to split up Steam games across drives and still work, e.g some games on C:, some games on D: ? Or is there any way to specify a different install directory when you install a new game? Tks!

pls help guy i install steam on my 2 desktop and 1 laptop all have same problem , can not update . bar not even move stuck at 0% . after that come out error no internet connection . of coz internet connection is on.

Search for a member called Deimos. In his signature you will find a download link to the Steam client. Unzip it, open steam.exe in it, let it update. Once it updates fully, copy the contents of the folder into your own Steam folder, replacing every thing.

If it still refuses to update, try doing it at 3am in the morning. Worked for me

Method 3: Start Steam in offline mode.

then paste at the same placehmmm splitting up steam games across c and d, nvr tried before and i think it cant be done ( someone test it out ) and usually when it install is at ur steam folder which you placed on your c or d

i think you should rearrange the files on your hard disk, lets say you move stuff from d to c then you have more space for steam at d
