MALAYSIAN Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) is planning an indoor theme park at its new township in Sungai Buloh, Selangor.
“We’re going to put up a theme park. It’s not going to be just roller-coaster rides. It’s going to be fun, wholesome and family-oriented. There’ll be something for everyone,” said group managing director Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din.
When asked to identify the theme park operator, he said, “we’re interviewing various parties from all over the world. The evaluation process will take six to nine months”.
Salim was speaking to Business Times on the sidelines of Metropolis Transportation Oriented Development seminar organised by Veritas Design Group, here, yesterday.
Back in 2012, the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) unit, Kwasa Land Sdn Bhd, bought the Rubber Research Institute’s land measuring 943ha from the government for RM2.28 billion. As the master developer of this strategically placed area, Kwasa Land wants this new township to incorporate transport- oriented elements like that of KL Sentral.
This new township, known as Kwasa Damansara, will reportedly to generate RM50 billion in gross development value (GDV) over the next 20 years.
It is to comprise 70 per cent commercial and 30 per cent residential components. It will initially serve the living and working requirements of 135,000 residents with the added advantage of having two mass rapid transit (MRT) stations.
Two months ago, MRCB won the bid to develop the first parcel of land there.
The 26ha, called Project MX-1, is a parcel of mixed development with GDV of RM7 billion.
When asked on the progress of MX-1, Salim said, “we’re building on our own expertise and experience to create a new dimension in lifestyle that will cater to the needs of future investors and the community in Kwasa Damansara”.
