Hey guys, my hard disk is acting weird recently. Whenever I want to copy files from the HDD to my external HDD, the process of transferring won't finished and whole PC will hang at there.

Other than that, sometimes whenever I want to enter some folder in the PC HDD, it will prompt out Window Explorer is closing and close all the folder that I've opened.

I've tried to format my HDD few times already. But after I format, the problem keep coming back.

What is wrong with my HDD? cry.gif

ya, the price gap between 500gb and 1tb is not large already.  brows.gif

Yea I know, but the old 320gb (the one that having problem), I might wanna use it for secondary HDD (until it dies). So, 500gb main + 320 secondary + 500GB external, it's enough for me.

Guys, I'm gonna RMA my Seagate Barracuda 320GB. I've done all those filling form thingy at Seagate website.

When I post the package to them, which pos I should use? Poslaju or PostExpress?

How should I wrap the HDD in order not to get damages when posting?

How about the payment? When they post back to me, who's the one who pay?

Sorry for being a noob, really need help here.

Currently I'm using wd640 green as my os drive and thinking get another 1tb for storage and gaming use. So far I read review that wd green series actually run at 5400rpm and some complain extreme slow.
I never compare with other hdd before so which u guys recommend?wd green or better go for seagate?
Usage:gaming and storage.
Thanks

Had 1 WD Green 500GB, I just bought it few months back. Now it's having read element failure, sending it to RMA. For internal storage, Seagate is more reliable than WD. Take Samsung, better than Seagate and WD. This is just my own experience.

I have a WD Blue 500GB, it doesnt work anymore has skipping sound noises as in it tries to start up then fail (keep repeating this process)

I have done the whole RMA thing on WD website, but need to send to sg for warranty purpose which doesnt make sense to me as theres a wd factory here. Anyone here has similar problems ?
*
I know 1 way that you no need to post your HDD to Singapore for RMA. PM me for details.

May I ask how cheap you asking? I think the price for that hard disk is quite affordable already, and it has its lowest manufacturing cost to consider as well, unless you buying many like sotong did, you can probably gets their near dealer price which is... shocking.gif  thumbup.gif
*
Because I'm gonna buy it very soon, scare after I bought it the price drop drastic.

The Green will always lose because it is a 5,400RPM HDD and the Samsung F3 is a 7,200RPM HDD. Cache sizes are not very meaningful for HDDs.
*
WD Green 1TB 7200RPM also.

Added on March 16, 2011, 9:49 pmSorry it's 5400RPM.

For normal storage, Caviar Green is okay. For boot disk, better not to take Caviar Green, Take F3.

Avoid WD Green HDD if you're using it as boot disk. Since the price is almost the same as F3, get F3.

QUOTE(ashland @ Jul 26 2011, 03:13 PM)
Guys,
One question, when I boot using my 250GB WD Black there are some files in my 1TB WD Green that unaccessable in sense that the file undetected / missing. But totally fine if I boot using my WD Green.
Is this the sign of faulty hdd on my WD Green?
*
QUOTE(TDUEnthusiast @ Jul 29 2011, 01:35 PM)
That's a strange issue but if booting up with the Caviar Green drive enables you to access the files normally then the Caviar Green shouldn't be experiencing any faults. It's only if you can't access those movie files when you're on the Caviar Green drive that you should be worrying about.
*
Caviar Green experiencing a lot of problems. Mine already not working, haven't send it to RMA. doh.gif
