guys..i would like to ask for suggestion..
curently, my pc has 3 hdd,
160gb seagate, 640gb WD green, and Samsung F3 1tb.
the problem is, currently my os is in my seagate, and it bottlenecks my pc's performance as it only runs at 5400rpm. would u think its a good idea if i just put my os in samsung f3 or wd green? thanks
*
put the OS on the F3, use WD as storage.

Western Digital Carviar Black 2TB? hmm.gif  This one running hot or not? Wat's the best price for this WD Black 2TB currently?
*
most hard disk consume less than 10W (including WD Black), so it doesn't run hot.

how to check wether its a SATA or PATA???
n is there any diff between those???

SATA offers several advantages over the older parallel ATA (PATA) interface: reduced cable-bulk and cost (reduced from 80 wires to seven), faster and more efficient data transfer, and hot swapping.

juz use a cloning software to clone all your files exactly to your empty external hdd, then install your new internal hdd and then clone back from your external hdd...
its a lot of work,but reasonable brows.gif
*
I prefer cloning it directly to the new HDD. Then readjust the partition size if I'm moving from small capacity HDD to larger ones.

read some more about this AHCI mode.. seems like there are a lot of problems rather than improvements..

http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=699609

i'll stick to IDE for now.. sweat.gif thanks for all the feedbacks..
*
that's an old thread, 2008

on a modern OS like Windows 7 or Vista, use AHCI, even when using XP, I don't have any problem with AHCI.

oo really? that's news for me...

so did you use AHCI after installing windows; or just prior to installing it?

coz there's a lot of my important documents and softwares installed in XP and 7; i'd go gaga if i lost them just by changing IDE to AHCI.. sweat.gif
*
I use AHCI when installing XP. You have to install the driver during XP installation (press F6) if you're using AHCI mode.
