any 1 terabyte single platter hard disk available yet @ shops? i heard that most manufacturers already breaking the 1tb barrier for single platter. and i heard that they will launch the disk end of august?

yes. you can see some people did "short stroke" with their harddisk, because single platter seems not "fast" for him/her. they want to write/read access to become short, thats why they did that even though that size will decrease. single platter 1TB will only use single disk to store data so read/write data will slightly quick.

did make a survey in several shops around kuala lumpur and still no shops have stocks. probably still not being release by manufacturer yet. they still sell thick 1TB drive which contain 2 disks.

of course, in order to become "green", speed need no be reduced
and they have black edition that vice-versa
