?is there any difference between 32mb and 16mb cache when choosing the hard disk?

not much of a difference, besides, you're still bottlenecked by the USB2.0 .

Anyone using the WD Caviar Blue 500GB (WD5000AAKS)? Or at least have experienced it before?

Want to get an affordable hard disk replacement, don't want to spend so much on the Caviar Black for now.

the performance is quite good,it is afterall a 500GB/Platter 7200RPM drive similar to the popular Spinpoint F3.
Runs cool too.

They are pretty much the same, though WD's RMA procedure is easier since you can send them the HDD and have it back within a fortnight

WTA - i currently using a IDE 40Gb 7200rpm HDD as my primary drive with OS...etc.

If I can get a new SATA 500gb 7200rpm HDD, will there be significant performance difference if I make the new HDD the primary drive.

Usually use the PC for gaming, surfing, and mayb convert video files.

THanks

Things would be snappier as today's single platter 500GB HDDs are much faster than old 40GB/platter HDDs.

Hey guys, I just got a WD MyBook Essential to pair with my XPS 15's USB 3.0 capability...

until I plugged it in and am using it right now.

Peak transfer speed is only 28MB/second? What is this? Anyone care to explain? My internal drive is a 500GB 7200rpm one.

Your's is the USB3.0 version? What sort of files were you transferring
