Sorry for being random, but is your friend a teacher?

btw, you can get a 2.5" 500GB Transcend anti-shock external hdd for RM235 or thereabouts...

No he's not.Your teacher brings HDD to school? biggrin.gif

Is that really good?I'm usually skeptical about "marketing claims" but Toshiba seems reliable. How about the likes of Seagate?

Yeap, its a great deal.
Considering that it is a 7200.12 Barracuda under that, it is a better deal than the WD Elements... if you're looking at speed alone.

It says there "Expansion External Drive".Is this really an external HDD or just an expansion bay or something rclxub.gif

I'm really considering a Transcend 25M 640GB 2.5" ext HDD smile.gif Any compatibility problems with Windows 7 64-bit?

Anyway i heard damn many good reviews about this HDD, but how about its stability? I don't wanna end up with corrupted or missing files over a year or so sad.gif

it's a virtual CD that contains the installers and manuals for their software. It pops up as another separate drive when plugged in, but i don't find it annoying so far. can still live with it smile.gif

So many terrible reviews...look at the number of 1 stars given? doh.gif http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Esse...nDateDescending

I'm going to give this a skip... how about a nice Transcend 1TB 3.5" ext HDD?I know their 25M 2.5" is extremely good

Just asking, is it really necessary for one to get a HDD with backup software? For I know that the "backup software" eats up a lot of HDD space.. let's say 50-100GB?(afaik)

The SG GoFlex Desk 1TB 3.5" sells at RM209, whereas the 1.5TB FreeAgent is at RM259. The latter seems to be of better value, but I think it is somewhat "lacking" a "superior" backup system like the GoFlex, from the description I've seen..

I'm leaning more towards to the SG GoFlex Desk. What do you guys reckon?

I'm on the verge of getting a WD My book Essential 2TB 3.5" for my laptop.. Hopefully it doesn't give me issues. And also good reliability smile.gif

p/s: Can I delete the software? Because I don't want it at all, and if I did can I install it back afterwards?

Ok I got the WD My Book Essentials 2TB 3.5" already.

Using only 2.0 speed, paired with my laptop. Problem is that I'm only getting like 12+mb per second on average when I was transfering 100GB of files to the HDD. doh.gif
