QUOTE(pluginbaby @ Jul 28 2010, 09:13 AM)
AMOLED has done well on HTC Desire IMHO.  SLCD should perform better (should!) and perhaps that is the reason they r taking SLCD over LCD as a replacement over AMOLEDs. Hopefully SLCD is not a lab rat for HTC and will be used on their next devices. They surely have done testing (of course, its a big company with research facilities) but their PR's words about SLCD over AMOLEDs arent so convincing. They only say that its comparable to AMOLEDs but having a slightly better battery friendly effect. Smells fishy there.
Have you copied back the folder from the SDcard backup? Titaniumbackup is the "titanium backup" folder while mybackup pro is in the "rerware" folder. Copy it back into ur SD as all the backup data is stored in there.
*
The main reason HTC is switching over to SLCD instead of AMOLED is because of the lack in stocks for the AMOLED screen. Samsung cant supply enough 3.7" AMOLED to other companies, thus, forcing HTC to switch over to SLCD, which is also a collaborative company between Sony & Samsung. At the moment, there is no real comparison between them and i surely hope that SLCD, aint exactly the same SuperLCD in the Xperia or it will look pretty bad. Again, HTC only mention that they are better + more battery savings compared to current LCD but by the means of "current", i am not sure whether they are saying "Current Common LCD" or "Current AMOLED".

For those who were discussing about AMOLED vs SLCD, here is a video for you guys:

Not much difference from what I can see. However there isn't a test below sunlight to judge how good is SLCD is.

Nice comparison there. Did the guys of howardsforum get that set from HTC itself or this means that SLCD is already in the market at the moment?

The Facebook is original inside LeeDroid. I never download it from the market. No idea whether its Facebook For Android or Facebook For Sense. Cause both of them seem same to me smile.gif

Can you share the wallpaper?

Btw, what browser are you guys using for the Desire? I am currently on Opera Mini. Didn't really like Dolphin HD either.

Sooooo very tempted to root.. grrrrr
But news like this keeps me hoping...
http://bit.ly/aKaXvK
Although Desire is not specifically stated in the report, it gives me hope that Desire could be the next in their roll-out at least for the APAC/SEA region tongue.gif
*
Well, i guess waiting for 1 week wont harm tongue.gif So far, thats the most concrete report about Verizon but still, no reply or quote of HTC in that. Good thing is that at least a couple of Froyo stuff are popping out recently, from the news in China to the HTC Europe site. I really hope its coming within this or next week smile.gif

the slcd is not that good maybe a bit worst than amoled

The video there actually doesn't look too bad for the SLCD, they are better in certain ways while the AMOLED is better in another. Question remains is how much "battery saving" it is compared to the AMOLED? Huge, or barely noticeable.

What do you guys think of the SLCD screen vs Amoled?

Seems like the video comparison shows amoled is better sad.gif
*
Well, give and take i guess. For me personally, i will opt for AMOLED unless of course there is a huge difference in battery life for the SLCD tongue.gif

QUOTE(nick67 @ Jul 29 2010, 12:37 AM)
Don't know..Some seller say next batch of Desires are SLCD already..

I watch that video already, still can't decide  sweat.gif

Batches in Canada already reported to come with SLCD. Guess its not long when we receive. Just wondering how do we find out whether its AMOLED or SLCD.

With all those announcements around, i certainly hope its coming this week smile.gif

Btw, when they do really come, how do we update it usually? Download the RUU to update or we can use the Settings -> About Phone -> Update Software function directly?

what os your pc is running?  I have sent file via bt with Window 7, fairly straight forward - pair them first then just sent the file over.
*
For PC to Phone is easy but not as easy when Phone -> PC. I downloaded the Bluetooth File Transfer program but its very troublesome. Not to mention, very slow cause need search + conect + pair everytime.

Anyone knows how can we get Google Earth? And is there any replacement for the headset that is bundled with the Desire and still get the FM Radio to work?

Actually 2 diff shops said (almost) the same thing (1 say phone will spoil the other say phone can't read properly if class too high)..Just wonderin, shouldn't it be better to get higher class now that Froyo allows installation of apps into the External Mem?
*
I am running class 6 microSDHC and no problem at all smile.gif

hey guys, why is it everyone here are looking for a class 6? why not class 4? what is the difference besides the speed?
*
Its the minimum speed. The higher the class, the faster the guaranteed minimum speed. It doesn't actually make a huge difference in Eclair but according to certain reports, Froyo does show faster response time when you use Class 6 as the application is installed to the memory card instead.

meaning need to root first, then backup nandroid, install titanium backup, backup stuffs, and i'll be safe on whatever i wanted to do in the future right?

Added on July 30, 2010, 5:54 pmbtw, do you guys use an antivirus? i found one in the market and terus use it. recommended or not? i mean the android should be safe from viruses right?
*
Doubt there is any virus in android yet. smile.gif

Yes, if you are talking about Titanium Backup or Nandroid, i believe there is NO other choices except to root first.
