guys, do you know 'TiKL'? it is an app that allows you to make free calls between android phone.
just give it a try ok, it can reduce your bill by using this app.

TiKL v1.10
[just rename the extension from .zip to .apk, then install into ur phone]
you can actually find it in market (only for rooted phone and use market enabler can find it)

Instructions:
make sure your phone number can be seen if you check at Settings>About phone>Phone identity>Phone number. if your phone number is 'unknown', you have to insert your simcard into other phones that can allow you to insert your phone number, old sonyericsson can do the job, motorola V3, blackberry, or other old phones. the format number u should put is 60161234567, dont put '+' before the numbers.

to ensure that i really can unroot my Desire, coz some people say maxis set with HBOOT 0.80 cant be unrooted. i guess that's totally wrong after i tried to unroot it and succeeded. so now, i can always root & unroot my phone anytime. biggrin.gif

where did u get maxis set firmware dude? i cant find any 0.80 firmware WWE on the next.. most asia r only 0.75.. btw, is it true that there is a higher newer hboot after 0.80 now?
btw, its great seeing increasing number of desire users rooting their maxis set.. haha.. many people are getting better and better at android, at least we know desire users arent nerdy and "skema" type xD.. congrats to those succeeded. People usually say that only nexus one users are geeks, we have prove that they r wrong.  rclxms.gif . Credits to maliqu3 btw for teaching me how to root and load custom rom.. he is my sifu  notworthy.gif
*
i downloaded the RUU from XDA-Developers and used RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.7_Radio_32.36.00.2 8U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126179_signed.exe to unroot my phone. yes there is newer HBOOT now, it's 0.83 if i'm not mistaken (it comes from HK froyo rom we talked about earlier). so if you flash the official froyo rom, you will probably not be able to root it back for some time till someone solves it, if nobody solves it means you will never be able to root it again.

QUOTE(i_bony @ Jul 18 2010, 06:13 PM)
do u still see the unclasped lock icon after u unroot just like benny888 mentioned?
*
i wonder how to see this lock whether unclasped or not, anyway? i just dunno how to check it.

Im on leodroid froyo sense rom with only froyo A2SD..120MB on fresh boot instead of 150 but still have around 60MB left after many daily apps n games installed cuz froyo a2sd allow move apps to sd card..  seems that 150MB on official froyo is sufficient already.. u should wait for official OTA if u "syg" ur warranty.. the word love does not fit well there.. huhu

Indeed, i also dunno where to see the bootloader locked/unlocked icon

Added on July 18, 2010, 6:48 pm

But we still dont know the official update for maxis set comes with wut hboot.. better not to flash if its .83 ... i cant see anywhere they mention about the new hboot version on xda, mind providing the link? may i missed it
*
i forgot where i read it, but u may check the fisrt thread of HK Froyo rom was made in XDA. maxis set will definitely be able to flash official asia froyo rom. however, after you flash it, your HBOOT might change from 0.80 to 0.8x and it will be impossible to root it again for some time.

Simple rooting..
Root your HTC Android phone with unrevoked..
http://unrevoked.com/

Just sharing..

I wonder if we could unroot our phone if using this method. coz it's a lil bit different with the old method..... hmm.gif

QUOTE(i_bony @ Jul 18 2010, 09:40 PM)
probably it's only shown in nexus one like cleave mentioned.
so if we un root it back, there is no tracing that we have rooted our deisre before?
u dont noticed anything different when u unroot it back? cause i still thinking the warranty issue.
haha. thanks for ur answer.
*
it looked all the same, nothing changed. probably there is no such thing for Desire since it's not nexusone btw. that's why i've been telling you, i believe that HTC Desire wont get the warranty void by just rooting it. coz some people have unrooted the phone and claimed the warranty.

Hey guys, wanna ask something, it has been asked before if i'm not mistaken, but its hard for me to browse 78 pages again. So, hope all of you don't mind.

1. If i root my Desire, can i unrooted back to stock rom, where can i get exactly the stock rom as i have right now.

2. Is my warranty will void if i root? do i need to unroot if i need to send the HTC Service Center?

p/s: hopefully, this kind of question will be put in the FAQ at the first page for other users reference.

why must you ask ppl to visit your blog leh? this forum suppose to give answer to ppl who needs help. discussion is open here. if want to help, just provide the answers, else stfu. your answer is not better than "just google it". then this forum can be closed if everyone like you.
*
why must ask the same questions for many times when you can find the answers if you just read few pages back? yeah, this forum gives answers to ppl, that's why ppl need to explore and search the answer. I want to help, that's why i give him all the answers he might ask again in future by giving my blog so he doesnt need to ask again. i know my asnwers are not better than google (u dont hv to visit my blog anyway, so dont bother). at least i'm trying to help someone who is lazy to search via google, coz by googling you hv to search answers from many sources when i just give him one source that can answer his questions.

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jul 22 2010, 08:17 AM)
You are plain rude. If you bother to visit his blog , he had taken a lot of effort to write out a simplified version - is not few sentences ; a mini essay. You expect him to copy and paste everytime a person ask such questions ? It is just ONE ( SATU )  click away , what is so difficult ?

I don't believe it till today people still want to be spoonfed right to the mouth - that's how you are. Hate to say it !

Baseband version: 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-82821fb5 htc kernel@and18-2 #1
Build number: goapk 1.0
Software number: desire_1.0_sense
Browser Version: webkit 3.1

Hi.. I am Indonesian and i've just bought HTC Desire in Shanghai.
Apparently, after i going home in Indonesia, I've discovered something quite trouble some.

1. There is no Friend Stream software..
2. I cannot link my Facebook to every contact list... i even cannot tap "Link to Facebbok account"...
3. Pinch and Zoom is NOT ALWAYS work.. I need to restart the phone to make it work properly again.
I notice build number of my htc desire is GOAPK. Later on, i search on google and found out that it is Chinese HTC.
And as far as i know, in China, Facebook is forbidden...

Questions:
1. How to solve it so that all my 3 problems solved without adding another problem?
2. Can i change the software?

I will appreciate your opinion... Thank you..

And here it is HTC answer of my problem:
"Thank you for contacting us again. Considering the technical details of your device the situation is as follows: your device was an Italian device initially. The device has been bought from Italy and imported in China. Someone tried to flash the original ROM on the phone with the Chinese version. This operation has failed and consequently, the functionality of the device has been affected. We would recommend you to return the device to the retailer and ask for a refund. Due to the fact that the device has been flashed, even the repair centre will refuse to repair it, as this device it's been damaged completely. I trust that this resolves your query. Please do not hesitate to contact us again if required."

Can i just reflash the ROM?

do u install swype on ur phone? if yes, then u will find that pinch and zoom dont always work. try to change to original keyboard from message box b4 u use pinch and zoom.

i used unrevoked method to root and my phone is working as normal though. I tried using rom manager to flash before but the phone just restart and go into recovery. Not sure this is normal or not. so until today i flash roms in recovery. simple as it is, i just select the zip file i want to flash and just flash it.  laugh.gif

pluginbaby.. 1.4c is out.. weird part is i never had any issues with the usb connect to pc though.. yaya the space in ext3 reduced when i installed apps.. so i just assume that apps are installed in sd card then..  sweat.gif

if you rooted using unrevoked, dont use rom manager to flash any rom. just follow this guide:

Flashing Steps:
1. Copy the rom you have downloaded from XDA-Developers into your SD card
2. Turn off your phone and turn it back on while holding 'volume down' button
3. In HBOOT menu, select Recovery (volume up and down button is to navigate, power button is to select)
4. Then your phone will be in recovery mode, then select flash from sdcard and choose the rom you want to flash.
5. Once completed, reboot it and you are done!!

If you guys want to have froyo rom that is more stable than any other froyo roms, try to flash opendesire 2.3. It's not even more stable but you will have longer battery life, unfortunately no sense. If you want to feel sense, you need to install fancy widget and launcherpro.

I'm following maliqu3's guide for rooting the phone using unrevoked, but there is a step i'm quite confused with. Maybe you guys can clarify the situation for me.

I've basically understood all of the step but here:
Is there something missing between step 6 and step 7? does it require us to reboot the device after I've installed the drivers from the "android-usb-driver.zip" file? Cause i can't access the phone settings from where i am now (at the Hboot screen).

Also in step 11
There is no point during tutorial that it called for the device to be disconnected at all, so why suddenly it requires me to connect my desire and all along its already connected?

I hope the sifus here can provide a clearer more precise instruction to root using unrevoked. (Video instruction would help alot !)

Sorry for being a noob.
*
after you are done installing android-usb-driver, you reboot it and then disconnect, so that you can go to settings from your phone and do the next step.
i have edited the tutorial in my blog too, i hope it's clearer now. if you still have any question, PM me.

haha, i thought everyone knows about their computers. oh please dont say my tutorial sucks, the problem is you. it's ok, let me guide u. if you use vista or 7, you can right click on 'Computer' or 'My Computer'[xp user] and then click properties (it's the same like if you want to check your windows is genuine or not), then you will find 'Device Manager' inside.

Editted: i have updated my tutorial again. I just didnt know if i have to make my tutorial really-really for newbies (even newbies for their own computer) shakehead.gif
