Yea, just realised i had to. Thought i could skip that step if i am not into app2sd+. Gonna start doing partition now. Do i have to reflash again or i can just do partition?
*
for best result: u reflash the rom again. after that flash radio(if necessary), and then install ROM Manager from market (do partitioning from rom manager)

Ok. Thank you so much guys. Gonna do ROM reflash again then smile.gif So, using rom manager, basically the partition needed is just the Swap0 512MB right?
*
swap=0mb, ext=512mb(512mb is minimum, but it's more than enough)

Great. Flashing ROM now. You guys are awesome. Thank you so much smile.gif
*
you're welcome. so after u done partitioning, dont bother to move apps to sd anymore. coz all the apps automatically install to sd card.

I see. Thanks for your clear explanation. Usually both will save the image file or backup to sd card right?
*
yes correct, both will save the image in sd card.

Question about Titanium Backup.

It backup system data including contacts, calendars, etc. Does it include application installed and application settings? E.g. Swype?

What if I want to reflash my ROM to a newer version when LeeDroid releases another next week? What are the steps? My Desire has been rooted, so we can skip the rooting process.

Does that mean it only leaves the Flashing of ROM part? Prior to flashing, I'd probably lose everything in the phone memory and sdcard, hence this is where Titanium Backup comes in, is it?
*
to be honest, i never use titanium backup. but i think titanium can backup apps too.

Great! Exactly what i wanted to hear smile.gif Gonna enjoy installing lots of programs now smile.gif Btw, flash for websites are auto enabled right for Froyo? I dont need to install anything?
*
it depends on ur rom. to check it, go to m.flash.com from ur phone browser and see what it says.

Now, how do i check whether i have non-native app2sd or not? I am feeling i dont have it on the OpenDesire Froyo cause i installed apps just now and its showing me low space.
*
did u install opendesire froyo sense? if u installed this rom, u need some tweaks to work properly about this a2sd. just try to flash other rom first like leedroid or opendesire without sense. normally, if u succeeded partitioning, ur internal memory will be around 140mb (that's why please install rom manager and do partitioning first b4 u install any apps).

Ok, I've managed to install and use Market Enabler. I am going with T-System Market. It is very nice but if I were to purchase some games like Zenonia (RPG) and Farm Frenzy. I pay the money in 4.99 and 3.00 pounds via Google but it ask for credit card info and Malaysia is not in the list. So, how do I purchase?

How about flashing my phone or upgrading or flashing, will I lose the paid apps I bought?
*
malaysia is on the list. try to edit ur google checkout a/c from ur pc. u should find malaysia.
you will not lose the apps u bought even though u flash any roms, u just need to install back again.

samsung galaxy wins over the screen and internal memory only. desire has more ram and sense (for me it's best UI)

Wow...I almost shocked the whole office when booting up LeeDroid ROM! LOL.. It was so loud. Can i disable the sound? LOL...

And i just installed LeeDroid with ROM partitioned as well. Getting about 104MB.
*
oh really, then it's ur internal memory now. try to install apps, and see if it reduces a lil bit, then ur a2sd is working. u have to know, everytime u install apps, ur internal may reduce but only a lil bit. but still, u can install more apps than without rooting it.

QUOTE(draco82 @ Jul 27 2010, 03:59 PM)
A bit confuse when reading post about rooting~~ Hope someone can answer~~
After I root using maliqu3 method, is the stock rom still available before i flash another rom on it? Or i need to flash a new rom immediately?
before flashing fom, partition needed for a2sd right?
*
you can do nandroid backup first b4 u flash any custom roms. u dont hv to flash custom rom immediately, but what is ur purpose by rooting it?

Its reducing quite alot though. Installed quite a number of aps, bout 20+ and now its down to 82MB. Btw, some of them are installed using Astro. Would that install directly to internal memory?
*
haha, u install more than 20 apps? of course u will lose that much, but still unrooted phone wont have that much space after installing so many apps. all the apps u installed will go to sd card automatically.

QUOTE(t3chn0m4nc3r @ Jul 27 2010, 04:13 PM)
haiya... the sense can be ported by flashing custom ROMs... doesn't matter 1... hardware performance more important when software is customizable... laugh.gif
*
yeah, you are right. but i believe it wont be as smooth as sense on htc desire. samsung galaxy s and desire has the same performance in processor. that's why i've been telling u, galaxy s wins over the screen and internal memory only. desire has more ram n sense.
and galaxy s is just too big, i cant fit it in my jeans.

Just want to make sure so that wont get shock during rooting process~~ tongue.gif  tongue.gif
so the process basically would be  backup --> root --> wipe sd --> partition sd --> flash rom --> flash radio (if necessary) --> restore ?
Planing to jump into dark, downloading modaco r5 now~~any comment about this rom?
*
yo bro, just check my signature. the guide in my blog will teach u step by step what u need to do to root ur phone.

so far i haven't benchmark any procs yet but there are a few sites that mentioned that the hummingbird is 3 times better than snapdragon in terms of graphic performance... laugh.gif
*
yeah, i admitted galaxy s is better. but still it's just too big. i need a phone that is suitable for me. and at least i never experience my desire become slow. all the games can be played on desire too and that's more than enough for me, so i dont care if galaxy s is 3 times better.

Just a question. If we install apps using ASTRO, how can we update it whenever there is an update ?
*
you wont be able to do that. you can only update app if you installed it from market.

Not true.

I used this method to root my phone and flash it with LeeDroid 1.6 (Froyo 2.2) and then have Swype 1.56 installed and it worked flawlessly. In fact, even better than the previous 2.1 and prev version of Swype.
*
you are correct. swype works better on froyo than eclair. cuz on eclair(stock rom), you cant use pinch to zoom if u enable swype.

Can someone please explain why is using Unrevoked not considered a real root? I'm still a bit blur about that since I use Unrevoked and I'm able to use Shootme (the screen capture thing) right after I reboot back into Sense.

Next I flash the leaked Froyo + HTC Sense rom without any problem.

So.. how is it different? I'm still new with android and I'm learning a lot of thing from this forum. Thanks smile.gif
*
actually, unrevoked and old method are the same. both can perform fake-flash i guess.

QUOTE(akachester @ Jul 27 2010, 05:40 PM)
Can you teach me how did you get Swype to work? Installed 1.56, change the setting in Keyboard & Layout and enabled Swype. But i cant see it in Messages.
*
tap and hold on message box, then tap input method. you will see swype option now, just tick it.

bro, there is some problem when i try to root~~i dont think i have the root access after all the process~~
if you can help

QUOTE(winterwish @ Jul 27 2010, 05:58 PM)
I think so as well.. I only root to get access to root only apps and to flash custom rom and unRevoked seems to do the job fine for me. Well, but I'm still curious to know what is wrong with unrevoked. Haha.

Draco82, i think u need a Goldcard. Yours is probably not the unlocked one is it?
*
if rooting using unrevoked, no goldcard required.

@draco82, have u really succeeded rooting ur phone btw?

btw i am using the old method~~

no wonder, maxis set needs a goldcard if u use old method. coz maxis set is considered as locked phone. just follow my guide in my blog.

But i tot maxis set can use for other telco like digi and celcom?
*
unlocked means the phone is from particular region and has been unlocked so that it can be used in different region (or we can say as AP set). i think that is what unlocked means, then.
