Me too. Be safe than sorry.
I opt for i88 plan of Digi.
It's not free la laugh.gif
It's more to subsidized.
IIRC, market biggrin.gif

Market ones are very limited. Not exactly that nice. I found some of the Samsung Galaxy S ones over at XDA that look way better but wondering is there more tongue.gif

And do you guys have any GPS software (except Google Maps)? How do you guys free space for those cause from what i am reading thus far, the GPS would need around 100+ to 200+MB.

And anyone can guide me how to get swype to work? I installed multipe version, multiple times. Can see the options at Keyboard & Layout but cant seem to be able to switch my Handcent or Messaging to use Swype.

After select the option in Keyboard and Layout,
try long press at your messaging box until a popup window show, then choose input method...
select swype from there~~
*
Yea, thats the problem. I cant see the Swype option there. But there is a Swype option at Keyboard & Layout. Even after i already tick it there, i still cant see the option at Handcent.

to be honest, if you're using the phone for light internet purpose like surfing, reading news feed, check facebook, flickr etc, or using GPS while on the go, 500MB a month is enough already .

if you watch youtube a lot, or wanna do torrent, of course not enough la...

so i guess the maxis desire deal is considerably worth it...
*
I definitely agree that 500MB is more than enough for mobile usage, like surfing facebook etc. At the moment, i am barely using 10% of my 1GB connection after over 1 week even with downloading of stuffs from the market. Even more to people that has constant WiFi connection. The concern for me was there are alot of complaints from people that didn't use 500MB but bill still comes out massive. Previously, i am a Maxis user and i do have some billing problem from them. Thus, to save the hassle, i moved. smile.gif

QUOTE(m4a1rifle @ Jul 19 2010, 02:03 PM)
Be careful when you switch to Maxis when you have supplementary line when you take the desire package, they freaking charge me for calls and sms between principle and supplementary line which cost my bill shoot up to RM166, so better pay extra RM5 to opt for itemized statement just to be safe.
*
They charges you after the 20hours free calls are finished.

Ya 20 hours for principle to call supplementary plus 15 hours for supplementary to call principle is free. I have compare with my friends bill, there's a section in the statement that specify how much rebate is given for calls between supplementary and principle (something like "family value plus rebate"), but my bill doesn't even have that rebate stated. Fishy indeed.

Always the deal with Maxis. smile.gif Billing system problem as always. Met the problem a couple of times sad.gif

will the case mate torque make the phone look fat ??
whats the thickness of it?

Definitely will. Even the Epikcase make the Desire thicker smile.gif So far, the only one i see that still looks slim in pictures, are the CaseMate Barely There.

Anyone had any idea how we can transfer file to the Desire without using a cable? Any idea how to do that? I tried transferring file via bluetooth but doesn't seem to be working.

**Edited. Its ok, got the bluetooth file transfer working via the default bluetooth program. Was using the Bluetooth File Transfer program found in Market previously.

the desire itself has a good build quality and very solid compare to samsung galaxy S which is very fragile indeed. HTC seems to have a very solid build quality and in a good form factor. Ive been using epikcase resin and epikcase TPU.. i prefer TPU which i am using it now as the backside is not rubbery and it is thinner than the resin case. It feels great in hand too plus not so bulky

I saw from your pic..
you don't mean HTC Desire Frosted Matte epikcase (black) rite ?
cus from the picture it looks like what i ordered from askarperang..
anyway.. i got a distorted case which looks like this :

http://img192.imageshack.us/i/imag0002nx.jpg/

On the back also got written TPU case
Yours one looks ok ?? any distortion ??  cry.gif

Waiting for his reply cus he say he's going to ask the supplier...  sad.gif  already 1 week+ still no news  sad.gif

From pictures, it does look like the Frosted Matte case. I got the same one as well.

But to be honest, i took it out yesterday and didnt bother putting it back on. For some reason, it looks like there is some kind of residue at the back cover when i took it out. I suspect that at times when the battery is very hot, it heats up the rubbery back and causes it to leave those residue. I am afraid if i put it for a long time, it might cause a permanent mark there, thus, i removed it. Again, that is what i suspect but i do not want to take the risk. It might also be mine was a tad lower in quality as well. For that price, there is no complaint. I am gonna hopefully get my CaseMate within a few weeks and gonna see the difference.

Actually I felt that too last week...  sad.gif
arh !! taking it out now... last week I thought i see it wrong or what... thats why i keep using it...
now definitely going to take it out...

After you tried the casemate, please give some feedback..
i'm thinking to either get CaseMate Barely There / CapDase case..
*
Yours is the Frosted Matte or the Resin?

Alright. Hopefully its here soon. Just attacted to the BT because of the slim profile.

QUOTE(pluginbaby @ Jul 20 2010, 03:42 PM)
Yes.. it is the same thing.. i maybe my definition of decent was lower than u guys n mine was quite ok. Epikcase is considered cheap comparing to other brands, so we cant expect much from it. But it did quite well on my previous 5800xm, thats y i still try to use epikcase
Im using the latest v5.x radio leaked by djradio. Seems that it is the only radio which works with the 720p recording..
*
Exactly what i am thinking. Not exactly much to complain but again, if its causing the back of the phone to be dirty, i guess its not worth as well. But bear in mind, mine is the Frosted Matte version which had a rubberized back. Not sure whether the Resin version would cause the same problem or not though.

Anyone uses that on froyo and how's the performance??

currently using 2Gb, dun have enuff space..  sad.gif

No idea but i have a BT for 3GS and its actually a hard case but the back does have some kind of rubber / soft material, probably not to scratch the back cover. But thats on the 3GS, not sure about the Desire version.

i guess the higher class is better as it's the transfer rate between the pc and your phone sd card. i think mostly people recommend to get sandisk? correct me if i'm wrong.
*
The class indicates the minimum speed that the card will run. Thus, getting a higher class will be better. But there is a case of exception, like there are some Sandisk that actually offers better speed in a class 4 than other cards in Class 6. Check those transfer speed from the cards before getting. Some Sandisk like SD cards have a speed of like 15mbps and categorized as Class 4 which is actually way faster than other Class 6 SD cards.

Yea, thats what i have been facing so far when sending to multiple targets or a long SMS. Gonna use HandCent and see whether the same problem occurs or not. smile.gif

Guys,

Anyone using Handcent here? I installed Handcent, and do the settings as in the first page to disable the notification for default SMS. However, there is a problem. Assuming i am receiving a message from DiGi, it will come out in 2 ways. 1 will be a message, with threads of all the DiGi messages. Then, there will also be a NEW messasge with the same thing as the one in the thread. How do i disable one of them? Notification shows only 1 SMS but when u enter Handcent, there is 2 of them.

Question about rooting. If i do it with Unrevoked, do i need to locate a ROM as well? Or Unrevoked already come with a ROM?

im not quite sure about unrEVOked method. I did rooting via the classic way and use ROM manager for rom flashing..
lucky u responded in time b4 people r going mad today.. haha.. just jokin... thanks for the confirmation.. i also missed out on the shipping status info
good job on updating it.. at least 1st timers could easily read it and if some lazybums asking about it without checking the FAQs or at least main page 1st, we can slice them up and barbeque.. haha.. jokes2
*
Well, i am beginning to get really tempted in the rooting, considering that i might not void my warranty tongue.gif And most important is that HTC had not even announce a date where Froyo is available. First June, then July, then August, then Christmas. Not even sure whether they are going to be here anytime soon. And if its indeed by Christmas, the so called Gingerbread will be around the corner as well. Currently, the easiest way seems to be Unrevoked but not sure which ROM to choose. Kinda interested in OpenDesire but any other recommendation? Something easy to use and stable.

i cant help u much and guide about unrevoked since im using the old method. Im not even quite sure if unrevoked allows flashing using rom manager (update zip flashing) or it uses recovery image. Try reading more on unrevoked b4 u start working. For sure u will get root with 1click using unrevoked but i dont know about flashing custom roms when ur using unrevoked. Perhaps its the same and perhaps not. I just don't know. Did u find a full tutorial using unrevoked and flashing custom roms once u used unrevoked? If u do, why not share here so that we could read on that also smile.gif Please do a lil bit of homework i suggest.. hehe.. its better to be safe

Anyone here tried unrevoked and wanna share some tips for this fella? btw, im sticking to Leedroid mod with froyo sense.. i still prefer sense over vanilla smile.gif I tried so many roms before even the vanilla ones but i really do miss htc sense so much. Just my 2.30cents here
*
Do you have any guide on how to do it on the old method? I choose Unrevoked because it seems to be the easiest out there at the moment, and by that, it means less risk tongue.gif How good is Leedroid? I need Sense as well.

QUOTE(nick67 @ Jul 22 2010, 11:16 AM)
So technically its better to get ap? I was worried if buy ap can't get OTA updates coz phone from overseas  sweat.gif

Thanks for reply  biggrin.gif
*
Its always recommended to buy Ori instead of AP. You will still get all the software upgrades from HTC even if it is AP but what you are missing is the warranty from SIS here. Its either you get warranty from respective shops or you need to send it back to the original place to warranty.
