Since you're based in Australia you can easily order from amazon.com. They have a good choice of earphones in the RM1K range. For that kind of money you practically cannot get anything bad. Its only peeps like me on a tight budget that has to be extra fussy when it comes to choices cos in the real world there is no such thing as 'cheap and good'. If it's cheap it's not good and conversely if it's good it is definitely not cheap. Don't know about you but for me RM1K is definitely NOT cheap so whatever you decide on should be GOOD! It's only logical....  rclxms.gif

I have to respectfully disagree. I bought a Shure SE530 a while back from an online retailer. I was hopeful that the sound was what I wanted based on all the positive reviews but come arrival I was actually quite disappointed. Not that it sounded bad or anything, just that I found the sound presentation not to my liking and I'm actually quite fussy about it I guess. After a month of trying to get my mind to burn in to the sound with no avail I just put it up for sale. Sound aside, the fit becomes uncomfortable and my ears will start to ache from long use (yes i tried ALL the tips available that comes in the box).

Is the iSpark same specs as the Spark plug but just with additional inline play/pause/skip cntrl or does it actually have better specs? Thanks.

I stand corrected. Was wondering if you are positive the SE530 you bought online is genuine?
*
Good question, but I don't know. It's been sold to a fellow LYN member. I also checked this Headfi thread to make sure. Based on my observations when comparing I was sure mine is genuine. Again, there is nothing wrong with the sound, just that the sound signature/presentation was not to my liking... particularly the highs and mids. They were quite 'bright' to the point of sibilance with some songs I listen to. Again, I stress that it's just not the sound presentation I was looking for. I also did a comparison with the demo unit @ Jaben after I sold the unit and my memory of the sound presented by the SE530 I bought online was the same as that of the demo unit @ Jaben - one which I didn't particularly like.

guys i just bought myself Grado SR60i from jaben. sounds nice but they said i have to use it at least 12 hours to make perfect sound. Actually want to buy the SR80i but budget is not enough doh.gif  doh.gif  doh.gif  doh.gif  doh.gif

Glad you like the sound. I reckon that's the burn in period for your Grado. I use the burninwave generator to burn in my earphones. For more info on burn in if you don't already know what it is:
What is burn in (Head-fi)

It'll help if you could state your budget and what genre of songs you listen to.

i'm trying to convince myself not to buy bose. but..i don't see anything out there better than the Quietcomfort 15 for in-flight noise canceling. sadly, in this arena, Bose is the benchmark.. or are they?

budget: USD$300, approx RM1k or less
usage: in flight entertainment/noise canceling for 17 hour flights
source: in flight entertainment system (movies), mobile phone, no source (just NC to sleep)
amp: none
style: comfortable..i want to sleep with it. QC3 is not comfortable..
*
Never listened to the Quietcomfort before but I have a few models in mind (no order of preference and they're IEMs) -
i) Audio Technica ATH-CK10
ii) Monster Turbine Pro Copper
iii) Jays Q-Jays
iv) Westone 2
v) Phiaton PS200

You're right, I misread the post. Oh well, treat the list as an alternative then. They do isolate sound/noise fairly well, but do not have that noise cancellation feature as stated by E1-AKG.

any full cans? these are on-ears, similar to QC3..it will hurt if i'm keeping them on for >5 hours. i've got dumbo ears.
hi, thanks for your recommendation, i currently own Shure E2C and SuperFi 5vi. they do work BUT
1. it cuts the noise level of the engine drone, but its there... and in excess of 10 hours its really there
2. gets uncomfortable after 6 hours or so

i've been using IEMs for my past trips.. time to up the game.
*
I understand that you can't completely isolate outside noise but are you saying that after 10 or so hours the noise becomes more audible? hmm.gif

Hi All,

Currently I'm using Crossroad Mylarone Bijou IEM. Its showing sign of dying. Planning to send it for recabling. So I will be out of IEM for a while, what should I get? Should be a slight upgrade from the Bijou and also an IEM. Come poison me kaw kaw.

Budget? Here's a link to get you started 138 IEMs compared.

Superlux's IEM, the HD381 is also apparently very good for it's price it seems. Might want to read the reviews on it as well. There are some user reviews/impressions here on LYN too.

You're most likely using a eartip that doesn't fit.

what do you mean? in-ears are unhygienic as well.. if share share among friends
*
Some IEM (In ear monitors) come with different eartip size and type to better fit each individual. I'm just saying that most likely your cause of discomfort after long periods of usage is due to a misfit between your ears and the eartips.

Edit: It is unhygienic if you don't clean your ears regularly nod.gif
