any1 noticed when in lowlight situation, the photo taken by the camera has pinkish colour that surrounds the photo?

that's called chromatic aberration. it is possible to fix it with software (like in some DSLR) but i doubt apple has the tech tongue.gif most if not all cameraphones suffer from this

QUOTE(Joey Christensen @ Aug 24 2010, 09:45 AM)
As what they have always say, beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, and inwardly are ravening wolves. I don't think you are at that level yet thou.

Your conscience of neutrality has been diluted by your very own self. It is not very wise of you bringing forth what was being intended in the Kopitiam section. As I said before, we talk business here and leave the pleasure of being a nincompoop in the Kopitiam section. Is that very hard to comprehend? If this were not being understood, there's no value of quoting me and personally attacking me with the quotes being taken from elsewhere deemed not worth a plugged nickel to be a source of reference.

Oh, by the way, I'm not writing all these in retaliation against you or in retrospective, I mercilessly pawned you with words. You sounded very much like Datuk Abdul Razak Musa, who are representing the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in the Teoh Beng Hock inquest. Please save yourself some face and don't mix with what have been said in Kopitiam section and leave it as it is there. Sometimes being a smart arse will get yourself being burned. You could be burnt badly at times.

Here's another piece of information regarding the Apple's iPhone 4 "imperfection"

As quoted Apple's PR Library: Under the Press Release tab.

Regards, Joey

p.s: Is Apple being forthcoming with the issue in hand? I don't think so. More like damage control to me thou.

the post you quoted is quite old dy. the software update mentioned is 4.0.1. can we please stop arguing about the antennagate? who cares if it's horrible in the US if u're gonna use an iphone in malaysia (or any countries outside US)?

Just for the record most if not all cameraphones dont have such issues. I have used some many of them and this is my first. We pay a lot of money for it and dont tell me not to expect much. After all didn't Steve Jobs make IP4's camera one of it's major selling points?
*
even a dedicated DSLR, more expensive than an iphone also sometimes got that problem. most probably is just a white balance problem, easily fixed with a software update (if the problem is huge enough lah). or probably the location where u took the picture has too much different light sources it confuses the algorithm.

can u replicate the yellowish skin tone n post a pic here?

giovanni, try to take a photo similar to the 1st one (with the hand) in a room under white, fluorescent lighting. how does it look like?

im not ruling out the possibility of defect hardware here, but i think nimrod323 n myself know enough about photography n we do experience this problem even with DSLRs. any camera phones suffer from this. if u're saying yours didnt, it's likely because u never shot a pic under tricky lighting. simple as that.

before anyone says "oh look there's a fanboi denying any issues by apple", tell me why the pic under normal lighting looks ok and not yellowish?

ah yes, if it's under white fluorescent lighting it should be blueish instead of yellowish tongue.gif i believe that's a valid concern

will test it out myself whenever maxis launches it haha

no im not suggesting it's a hardware defect. juz software

u cannot compare with orangbulu's photos. the best way is to get another iphone 4 n take photos at the exact same conditions, same place, same time. emphasis on EXACT.

orangbulu blueish tint for flash is actually normal, even for DSLRs smile.gif it works like this. the flash colour output is white. if u take a photo in a very orange background, the camera will attempt to adjust the white balance to be a little bit cooler (more blueish to counter the orange). thus the orange background will look more natural, but the white flash will be blueish. that's why some photographers have coloured filters to change the flash output colour to better match the lighting. tricky right?

example, taken with a canon 350D SLR with built-in flash:
Attached Image
that photo is taken in a restaurant where the lights are all orange. it doesnt look orange in this photo because the camera tweaked the white balance, but the white flash became blue. an orange filter for the flash would fix this

it also goes the other way around. take a photo with flash in a blueish background, the camera will attempt to make it hotter (more orange to counter the blue) so that the blueish part looks more natural. but the white flash becomes an orange tint.

again, this doesnt happen every single time as modern cameras are pretty smart controlling the white balance. it just misjudges from time to time. my lumix LX3 had really bad white balance control before, but a simple firmware update solved the problem smile.gif

Got a replacement today but now my camera has the blue greenish blotch in the middle like that of @orangbulu. The technician at genius bar was helpful and brought two units out again and they all had the same issue. Then another technician took out his unit and again the same problem. Then we tested most of the display units there and found the same issue with all (either with yellow tint or the blue greenish blotch). Then they come to a conclusion that it is a software problem.

I went back a semi happy man. To choose between the two problems I'd prefer the blotch rather than the tint. But having a blotch especially when you take indoor upclose photo is definitely not in my list of favourite things.

Just to share my experience and please don't flame me for my input. I thought forum is about sharing your experiences and to help other forumers

No, it isn't. Try to do a hard reset and total restore to see if it helps. If it is still the same, make an appointment with Genius bar.

hahhahahah this one is even funnier than the question

genius bar summore tongue.gif

deodorant the white balance issue is pretty interesting. going to do a iphone 4 vs SE c902 camera comparison later heheh

This issue is not resolved yet and it seems does not affect every user ; probably due to production issues in certain batches of production. Apple had acknowledge this is a problem and Steve Jobs at his last conference promised a software patch but apparently was not in the 4.01

Yeah I know that this is a Malaysian forum. My point is anyone can post here to get help and it need not be Malaysian. It can be Singaporeans or even Malaysians from overseas. They might have purchasedtheir IP4 from wherever they are now and came here for help. As for the remark "you have obviously never been to /k/" I don't know what you mean.
*
why we cannot make such assumption? if i say something costs 1k... this being a malaysian forum, of course ppl will assume it's in RM right ;P of course anyone in any country can log in, but majority is located in malaysia

new antenna design? well i hope the sides are less shiny lol. looks better in the pics IMO
