Any phone if drop could have it's screen damaged . it doesn't matter how serious shattered the screen is. Even a slight crack will drive you crazy. Deciding whether to buy based on this should not be a major concern. Whether the screen shatter or not also depend on how you drop it and the surface.
If one chance of dropping phone is high, OMG better get those rugged industrial types like HP models but with lousy slow and outdated windows 5

In my opinion, Apple's iBooks is no match for either GoodReader or ReaddleDocs or even AirSharing Pro. Why?

Note that the comparison is made on a non-jailbroken 16GB iPhone 3GS Maxis set, and performances vary on an iPhone 4 or iPhone 3G/iPhone.
If you plan to read a lot of text files in one go, you're recommended to view it on an iPad or a laptop.
Hope this helps =)

EXCELLENT comparison. I use mainly Goodreader and is b&***y cheap at US0.99 ONLY !! A must have in your iphone or ipad

anyone can help me to cut micro-sim ?

You can do it yourself easily

This is my answer to several who PM me about how to cut the card : you just need a sharp scissors and a piece of paper

First get the size of the card ; put a piece of paper inside the simcard slot - slightly pressed along the edges to get a impression. Cut the paper to have the size. Put paper on top of the simcard and use a pencil to trace the size on the card. What I did I cut first the right handside close to the gold edge. Then I trim the rest - it is alright to trim off slightly the top n bottoms of the gold edges. The important area is the centre part where you see 2 lines

I have cut so far 5 cards : Digi, celcom, hotlink all works perfectly without any issues

will there be a problem if i use 2 iphones on 1 itunes?

do i need 2 accounts or can just use 1?

what about apps, contacts and other contents ie music picture?

No problem. Infact all music, videos, audiobooks and apps you buy from apple store can use up to 5 devices - notebook, desktop, or iPod or iPhone or MacBook etc etc

Joey, you are causing many apple iPhone owners or to be owners unnecessary stress. They have already makeup their minds to buy it despite whatever shortcomings. Actually I would say every smartphone has it's negatives. It is how you view this and would you be able to accept it. In the case of the ip4, I have few friends using it and have personally tested it - the signal drop issue is not a serious issue here in spore n Msia. It is not so serious that one cannot use it to call or enable data download. I have been using smart phones symbian, palm, windows, iPhone, android past 15 years and I would say such issues do occur especially in areas of weak signals

USA especially telco ATT is notorious for it's weak 3G/hspda coverage . So this problem is amplified in USA.

Anyway it is an individual decision if he still wants to buy the iphone4 knowing the deficiency ( if one wish to call it so). The only thing I am not too happy with apple or steve jobs is the manner they go about boasting their superiority over others and gives impression that anyone not using the best smartphone the iphone4 is not that smart after all.

Some members here are similar too with quick expression of unhappiness when apple negatives are discussed. They will immediate rally to apple rescue. Personally I don't care a shit, I have all platforms iPhone, windows, android. I love all and like each positive aspect of all of them. I will use whichever I deem best when I need it. For your info I will also be getting the ip4 not because it Is that great , is just a hobby of mine to play with these new gadgets.

I said "one of its major selling points". If was advertised as "Never miss a photo opportunity" http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/features/camera.html. So that is one of it's selling points.

Terrible quality - is it possible hardware defect ?? My HD2 and Nexus is many many times better compared with it, and I am not even happy with it. I am not a photographic expert, only know how to point and click but these photos are bad, really bad consider so much hype on the phone camera. No wonder you are dissapointed

Hopefully a Software patch could fix this problem. When the htc hd2 ( windows mobile 6.5) was launched, all users complain about the pinkish tint in the centre on camera shots. A software patch was released about 2 months later and problem no longer. However in the hd2 it was very obvious as affected all users.

DIY - SIM to Micro-SIM

Take ur time doing it. Cut less then file coz if u over cut, u can't go back.
Have fun.

This tutorial was made by steps that have been informed and posted by some forumers here.
Good luck.

Bro - Thank you and a very good effort you have taken to demo the steps. Very sure it'd be great help to those who are uncertain and have doubts doing it.
To add to shumaky steps, if necessary to trim the gold edges it is safe to trim off slightly the horizontal top and bottom edges NOT the vertical rhs and lhs edges.

These scenario of commonly FAQ is also rampant in other windows mobile and android forums. Most mods do a verge good job putting up a good summary of product features, links to other site, FAQ, etc in the post 1 or 2. Problem is most new users never bother to even read these first posts. Forget about even asking them to refer to manual

Before I even buy any new notebook, smartphone I will always research about it in the appropriate forum. It is now so convenient. I will download the manual if available and read it first.

This is a problem and a growing one I noticed especially with the younger generation. They expect instant answers, they face a issue they jump into the forum and ask. I see same problem with some of my staffs in my work experience past 35 years.
There is lack of initiative and unwillingness to research for solutions. All they want is instant answer. Not suprising such staffs of mine rarely get the needed promotions due to lack of initiatives.

forgive me. if iPhone 4 has new method of holding the phone that i dunno.. sad.gif

This issue is not resolved yet and it seems does not affect every user ; probably due to production issues in certain batches of production. Apple had acknowledge this is a problem and Steve Jobs at his last conference promised a software patch but apparently was not in the 4.01

A very good and detailed comparison. Those having issues with photo n video quality the writer explain very well the iphone4 deficiencies. Again in any comparison there is no winner ..choice will depend on which features are more important to you

hi guys , i need some help here. I'm having a 3G & previously upgraded to OS4 & regretted all the way. recently found a way to downgrade the phone back to 3.13 but Itunes just don't allow the backup restore of all my data previously backup in OS4 which unfortunately IS the only i'm having.

Question : is there any way to bypass version check or force restore of my backup previously done in OS 4 without having to upgrade my device back to OS 4? ...PLS HELPPP....

Dont think so. However if you want to restore back your apps you can do it manually. Transfer apps manually over - all your apps are at folder itunes/itunes media/Mobile applications

I read from here : Article on AUG 20 - http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/10/08...enter_more.html

The forthcoming iOS 4.1 software update will pack a number of fixes for Apple's mobile devices, including a problematic issue with the iPhone 4 proximity sensor. AppleInsider offers a closer look at the latest beta available to developers.

iOS 4.1 is currently in its third beta, released earlier this month. It addresses many issues that users have experienced, including problems with Bluetooth connectivity.

The official list of fixes and enhancements does not make mention of the proximity sensor or Bluetooth functionality. However, time spent with the latest beta build shows a marked improvement with those features.

The most recent update also added new features such as a new API that allows apps to access contact thumbnail pictures.

However, the software is still not ready for public use, as major glitches remain that prevent it from release. Most notably, there are memory leaks in beta 3 that can cause serious issues.

Proximity sensor

While not documented by Apple, experience with the iOS 4.1 beta has shown that the proximity sensor on the iPhone 4 is far more reliable
. Since the device launched in June, users have reported that the handset's touchscreen will sometimes turn on in the midst of a call, resulting in accidental button presses that can end a call or place someone on hold.

At a press conference in July, Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs confirmed that his company was aware of the problem and working on a fix. But the first two minor updates to iOS 4, in the form of 4.0.1 and 4.0.2, did not address the problem.

Iphone 4 and DIGI card.

I cut my DIGI (prepaid) SIM card according to a template and now it does not work in either my Iphone 4 or in my old phone (with micro-SIM adapter).

Any one on this forum has cut a DIGI card and used it in the Iphone 4? Any problems or tips?
Probably too late for me with this card, but would like to know for the ...next one!!!
*
GET a replacement card and try cut again. Make sure the vertical RHS and LHS gold line edges are intact. It is OK to trim slightly off the top and bottom gold edges. I cut a Digi card for my ipad and one Digi card for my friend's iphone4

http://www.macrumors.com/2010/08/31/mexica...d-of-september/

CanalMX reports on comments from an executive at Mexican carrier Telcel claiming that Apple is set to release a revised version of the iPhone 4 by the end of September to address the highly-publicized antenna issue. Telcel began offering the iPhone 4 in Mexico last Friday as part of a quiet expansion that saw the device also come to the Czech Republic, Greece, Poland, Portugal, and Slovakia.

According to Marco Quatorze, Telcel's Director of Value Added Services, the iPhone 4 sold in Mexico will initially be the same hardware as that sold in the U.S. and elsewhere, with Apple offering a free case to address potential issues with antenna performance. But he also noted that as of September 30th, when the free case program expires, revised hardware without the reception issues will become available.

The veracity of Quatorze's claim is unknown, as it is unclear whether a carrier executive at his level would even be privy to such information, and it is possible that he may simply be mistaken in his understanding of Apple's September 30th expiration date for the free case program. At Apple's iPhone 4 press conference last month, Steve Jobs noted that the free case program was launched with an initial expiration date of September 30th to provide the company with time to continue its investigation of the antenna issue and perhaps come up with a better solution for future customers.

If one is not concerned about upgrades of the firmware, getting the software sim unlock version is alright. Most will regret buying such units though is cheaper. You will be frustrated when there are new upgrades.
