Regarding the earlier Energy Rom that i have, it has a built in Android booter. It will run the CLAD and Haret in the SD card if it found.

Thanks for the barebone Android ROM smile.gif i'm downloading it for testing. Hehe, oh ya.. Btw Benny, is there anyway to share our contact list between WM and Android?

Thanks smile.gif
*
No you cannot, as both the OS are not link. What I did was transfer my Windows mobile contact over to my Gmail account. After you load Android, you have to sign in your Gmail account and the contacts/calendar will be auto sync to your phone. My method of sync is a bit " leceh" - I have not really go about finding a better way - perhaps some one can advise me a better and easier solution ?

This is what I do:

1. Updates my PIM data on the Android ( since this is now my active HD2 Android phone )
2. The PIM data on the HD2 android will auto sync down with my iMAC PIM as I have set the Gmail account as my default PIM
3. When I connect my HD2 ( while on Windows Mobile ) to my iMAC, Missing Sync will update my PIM in the Windows Mobile

how do I use A-GPS on this HD2? The current internal GPS not good enough inside car with v-Kool
*
I am assuming you are on Windows Mobile. Just select Settings/System/External GPS/Access - tick Manage GPS automatically

OR countercheck the HTC AGPS service should be turned ON in HTC Settings -> Location -> AGPS Service: Turn ON.

There are some 3rd party system utility solutions that offer you to select A-GPS as default : Checkup BSB Tweak or HD2 tweaks - I remeber one of them allow you to set AGPS as default

Do you enable Quick GPS - all GPS data download is valid for 7 days. With this your lockup will also be faster

Based on my experience using the HD2 - it has a very good GPS lockup; the fact your car is heavily tinted shouldn't affect it as the tint is only reflecting off light. Infact the lockup is so fast and good, I dont use AGPS at all and rarely use Quick GPS.

Radio version = 2.06.51.07

how and where I can download new one without screwing up the HD2.?

I also have problems SOMETIMES if I power off the device, I cant even charge and I cant turn it back on, need to remove the battery and put back then can start...
*
You need to HardSPL first before you can flash radio. Flashing radio will not delete your phone data

Refer here for HSPL and radio links : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713977

Suggest you flash 2.08 and above . Make sure is with 0.50 NOT 0.51

Your charging issue seems like hardware issue with the battery contacts ?

if I play with the Andriod roms only and leave the VM rom stock for now, do I need to do task29 all the time? I figure those Andriod files doesn't get into the HD2 internal memory right?
*
task29 for only changing windows rom.

Added on September 7, 2010, 11:03 amI have created a new post to list out HD2 users using Android. I have also written a very simple guide how to have Android up on the HD2. Please update your details at :

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1554156

It might also be more appropriate to discuss all Android matters on HD2 over there

I downloaded Hotfix from HTC South East Asia site, install hotfix to my HD2 and it takes some space on the phone storage.. is it normal?

edit- and I want to flash my radio, on XDA- DevelOPErs forum, it says this

IMPORTANT: To install/uninstall this HSPL3 there must be any SPL version from this list on your device:
SPL 1.42.0000, SPL 1.62.0000, SPL 1.66.0000, SPL 2.07.0000, SPL 2.08.0000, SPL 2.10.000

where do I check my sPL version on my HD2?
*
Yes, the hotfix takes up space as it is adding files to your system

Have you ever root ? If not, just go ahead and HSPL it . To check, go to bootloader mode - press vol down and on/off button simultaneously - phone will boot , you will see tricolr screen. The spl version is shown at bottom. If you have been reading the HSPL instructions, you'd have know how to check this

When garmin/papago plan to support Android?
*
Papago is supported on android. Checkup nexus or htc desire forum in lowyat here n google for download link

Try google map brut ver 16 or ver 14 , it is very good with voice assisted navigation. Just google plenty of links to doenload. I used it in kl once and few times at spore, no problem n directions good, at least I never got lost. Quite similar to
MapKing with added direction instruction on top of screen

the zip file is a software to run task29 + flash to new radio altogether. after proceeding this, my phone encounters this problem. before this i ady did a hspl on my hd2.
*
When you run task29 your phone will be empty out of a rom. So to get your phone working you have to install a rom if not your phone show white screen.

Take out battery. Put back, don't switch on phone
Press vol down and on/off button simultaneously. Connect phone to computer. You will see on phone serial change to USB
Locate folder where you unzip new rom. Run the customruu.exe to flash new rom. Of course you must have new rom downloaded first, make sure your rom file is renamed ruu_signed.nbh

The android rom is on card. During the first run install, some files will be install in phone memory. These files will be overwritten when you change the android rom.

When you boot into android from windows, system will look for the folder android on card. It will then execute and boot android from there. So you can only have one android folder. If you want to change android rom, just delete the folder android from card and replace it with the new android folder extracted from the new rom zip file

My one is 2.06.51.07 currently, which one do you suggest I upgrade to?
*
Radio 0.51 ?? This is tricky

In this case , I suggest you do a HSPL3 . As yours is TMOUS set , check your phone Flash ROM size which have 2 types: 512 MB or 1024 MB
Settings/System/Device/Hardware

Different HSPL steps as follows: Choose right one or you will brick your phone

512 MB rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
1024 MB rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614

Then only select radio : any radio above 2.08 will do . Choose the one with 0.50.

Radio choices here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
If you want latest, select 2.12.50.02 - actually is your choice. You can test several radios and decide which is best.

i read somewhere you can have 2 builds of android on a partitioned sd card. trying to find the thread now, will post it if i find it....
*
Please do as I am interested to know too. I know in the early days of the Android on HD2, there were 2 class of developers. One that install all the Android files on the root of the SD card , while the other installed it in a foldet "Android". I have tested both. Now the method of installing in the root is discontinued as it has many bugs. In such a case I believe you can have 2 types as during boot, the phone will scan the root first for haret.exe and if not found , will look up in the folder "Android"

Based on my understanding, such a scenario you will have 2 Android builds - maybe I am wrong

Can you just see this screenshot that I took from my phone..
[attachmentid=1770564]
5. The program will now check the usb connection and enter bootloader screen (tri colour)
*You can select between SPL2.08.0000 or 2.08.HSPL. This is to avoid people with 1024LEO's installing an incompatable version and bricking their device*

so which one should I choose?

then,

Rename the extracted file to "RUU_Signed.nbh" and flash with the CustomRUU: it won't hardreset your device.

CustomRUU?  rclxub.gif  please guide me..
*
Please check first your flash rom size , then just follow the link I have given you to install the correct HSPL

Please read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477 to understand what is flashing : All the ABC's and FAQ of flashing is here and I don't think I can do a better job than the author explaining it

CustomRUU.exe is the program file you run to execute the flashing process

RUU_Signed.nbh is the flash file. Some rom cooks will auto show their flash file as this ; while some will show it as others to show their signature eg Chuckyv24.nbh . So you need to check the nbh file name and rename it first before flashing - same reasoning for Radio files too

I have been buying alternative batterises online ( for my htc TP2, HD, HD2, 3600i , dopod mini etc ) , some are really cheap and of course poor life span. Bsst type I have ever used is a brand Andida - reasonable pricing and cheap. As comparison a htc original battery costs about RM 150 to RM 180. The Andida cost about RM 60 to RM 80 while a typical cheap type RM 30 to RM40

Clear your cache in phone memory as while you are streaming , the file is continuously being downloaded so that you'd have uninterrupted viewing

QUOTE(02286 @ Sep 19 2010, 03:41 PM)
wanna ask, if i mod it to android ard.. then i stock spl the hd2 back... then go for SIS warranty, will my device(HD2) been detected and warranty void?.. coz my fren de HTC HD faced this prob, after he done all stock spl/radio correctly, still the service center say that his device warranty void..=.="" how? anyone encounter similar problems be4? tq...
*
The android rom will not affect warranty. As long as you remove the dual boot cab any any shortcut boot cab to it there is no way SIS will know you have install android as the android runs off from the sd card. A hard reset on the windows mobile will remove all traces of Android

Most people do not do a proper and correct way to restore stock rom. Once the phone is HSPL, it stays there even if you install back the original radio and stock rom. SIS just need to go to bootloader mode and they will know phone has being HSPL. There is a simple well written procedure at XDA explaining the right way to do - is very simple

You need to run either market access or market enabler to access the full android market which include paid apps. Infact some of the free apps is not in the free android market but appear only in paid market as such developers expect users will eventually buy the paid version. Whatever apps the hd2 can access in the free market is same as other android phones

I have started a new thread at. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1554156 to discuss android on hd2. This to avoid mixing up with windows related discussions here
