but 175mm cant penetrate most tank on tier 8, need speed to get to their side

russian never good at sniping.

Already unlock it 1DIOT gun from IS line, just few thousand to T-44

need to prepare to drag into tier X battle rclxub.gif
*
Speed is one, but proper positioning and play would compensate to some extent. Trust me, you don't want to be using the 1D10T gun for long. No point getting into position when you can't even hit em. smile.gif

EDIT: 175mm can penetrate heavy tanks frontally if you know where to shoot. Even the vaunted IS-3, though that one also depends on the other side.

idiot gun is never a good gun
best to quickly chg to LB-1

It was an okay gun when it was available for the T-34-85. (and T-43) smile.gif

But that's mainly because it's also OP for its tier.

ic cause normally when i using tier 5 usa TD when i should heavy from front normaly less/no damage

I only damage them when i shoot their wheel, Fuel or engine area...

Shoot turret sometimes damage sometimes no....

That y i very confuse where is better place to shoot since i always snipe from far i normally chose wheel as target
*
Different heavy tanks have different weaknesses.

For the KV-1:
Actually the entire vertical plate above the frontal glacis is weak, though the MG port and vision silt are the weakest. It's a common weak point to all tanks in the KV series. (Most unfortunately.) You can also try shooting the first and last wheels of tracks. They deal track as well as hull damage. I wouldn't recommend shooting a KV-1 with the upgraded turret though. It's slightly sloped and prone to bounce shots anyway. The stock one however, is fair game.

The most reliably place is of course, the rear. You might even start an engine fire with a lucky shot.

For the T1 HT:
Only the front is heavily armoured. The sides are fair game. Not really sure about the turret, but then again, why bother with such a small target when the entire side profile is like a barn.

For the BDR G1B:
Joke armour. This tank can be penetrated anywhere but the front. Even the frontal armour is iffy, but it does sometimes bounce my 107mm. sweat.gif

Of course, this being World of Tanks, don't be surprised if your gun sometimes bounces off armour it is supposed to penetrate 100%. It's actually quite common. (Most lulzy is M7 priest bouncing shells off my old KV 107mm.)

Finally! I've completed the hell that is the Mathilda and reached Tier 5 Heavies for Brits.

Too anyone who is even tempted to grind the Medium tanks to reach Brit Heavies... just don't... when you get to the matilda your've stuck with a gun that can penetrate almost anything but does 50 damage... or a gun that does over 300 damage but can't really hit anything unless that thing is standing still...

QUOTE(cend @ Nov 15 2012, 02:15 AM)
KV1s for heavy tank with medium DNA. It's gun are powerful and paired with decent speed (also the most profit making tank available for it's tier). Go this line if you want to go for fast heavies, the infamous IS series. And an option to go for the medium.

KV2 is more of a shotgun tank. The derp gun is worth it if you want to pop targets instantly at medium range (note that getting flanked/outnumbered is worst thing that can happen because of slow reload of derp, slow turret and slow aiming). Also good to build arty series from S-51. Go for this if you want to have a taste of derp gun and arty. Most enemies will go OMGWTFBBQ when the next thing they see in front of them is a KV-2. And back to the garage in mere seconds.

T150? More like a buffed up stats of KV-1. VERY underpowered. VERY. Go this line if you want to go for KV series for the balanced armor and powerful gun.

Note, KV series have superb damage chipping abilities, but the accuracy is pretty poor against superior germans. Good for medium engagements. I don't recommend doing sniping with this series.

IS series is more for those who wants mobilty especially cover and peek shooting style, or rushing.

I own the KV-3, KV-2, T-150, KV-1. Didn't buy the KV-1s because no garage space. sweat.gif, but it's sure the best tier 6 tank out there.
*
Note, KV-series tanks are made for brawling. (Except for the KV-1S and KV-4, but we all know that the two are the odd ones out. As said, KV-1S is a heavy medium hybrid. KV-4 is more reminiscent of sniper tanks like the Tiger.)

Yes, that means you should be taking your tanks up close and personal, especially with your horribly inaccurate guns. Seeing KV tanks sniping just gives me heartburn. sweat.gif

Also, if you got the xp, I heartily recommend you get the KV-2, if only to experience the derp gun first hand. Really, there is no other tank that plays like the KV-2. smile.gif

Aye. I might play peek-a-boo or dance-around-the-heavy-tank with my T49, but a straight up 1v1? No way.

Hm. The T-44 is quite the flanker if you can get into position in time. But! You can't carry a (bad) team as well as you could if you were in a heavy tank. Makes me a little sad but I guess that's part of the draw.

sometime you and several team are advancing steadily on one route
to only find the other flank has fallen, what make it worse is that those flank has the most tanks
*
The worst kind is those heavy tanks who let the lower tier tanks die first, instead of helping to spearhead the push or at least take the hits.

met more and more lemming team, all move 1 side only, worst thing was i always facing highest tier heavies when guarding another flank, or some jz run to other side, let me face enemies alone
a lot highest heavies are campers, or simply say team noob when see others die, or simply say go scout, but unable to deal damage when ppl light up target for them
*
sweat.gif

As an avid T28P player, I find it amazing how many times I have to lead the charge personally. When a TD has to lead... yeah. doh.gif

Same thing happens in my KV-4 and T-44, though at least the KV-4 is an actual heavy tank. T-44... things tend not to go well if I have to lead.

mostly thai players have this problem

always camping, how i'm suppose to flank if enemy tank focus on me infront?

To be fair not only Thai. I also know of some MY and pinoys doing the same. Hell some of those aussies/kiwis love to camp.

The hilarious thing is that these players have the gall to call others noob when they're sitting pretty in some place doing absolutely nuts.

Obj 704 has a lower profile compared to T30. (Better camo values) And its frontal armour is still quite reasonable.

T30 is a sitting duck. If you're spotted and alone? Game over. tongue.gif

As for T-54, well, all Russian meds are squishy. That's why you have speed. biggrin.gif
