620s are primarily used for the wheels, and with some minor mods the gears too.

Guys can I ask your opinions, regarding my setup
- Front Rollers : 1 set 19mm Plastic Roller (Taken from Double Aluminum Roller Stay) - Back Rollers : 2 set 19mm Aluminum Roller - MS-L + Gold Plated Terminal - N-03 + HG Carbon Reinforced FRP Wide Front Plate N-03 Unit - T-03 + HG Carbon Reinforced FRP Wide rear Plate - 620 Ball Bearing set on both Wheel set - FW : One Way Large + Arch Tires - BW : Large Dia + Arch Tires - HDPro on 3.5 :1 gear set + SB on gears I got problem with cornering, each time it comes to a corner my car always jump out of the tracks (thanks to it my MS-L smoke is broken ) I've been thinking to replace the front rollers with either a Double Aluminum (13-12mm) or take 1 set of 19mm from my back rollers and put it on the front, or should I replace the plastic one with aluminum ? I got 2 set of 9mm BB, but I planning to use it on my Double Roller Stay, or should I try to use it ? |

should you upload some pic for us ?? btw, if you use bumperless... have you set some angle at the front?? Added on June 20, 2010, 7:00 pmusing MS against VS or other chassis which using higher rpm's motor is a challenge, fun, and it's a learning process... you will never know the spirit inside ~~ hahahahaha~ This post has been edited by szngszng: Jun 20 2010, 07:00 PM |

It just started to happening when I replaced 2 set of my back rollers (from 19mm to 14mm all plastic) I thought by switching from plastic to Aluminum I can solve it, but it getting worse, and now 2 set of aluminum got deformed just by 3 runs Btw this is my car (sorry for the LQ pics since i don't have a "real" camera with me now) And since you're mentioning about setting some angles, could you tell me how can I make one with a bumperless ? I got this angle setting (actually I ripped it off from my classic collection vol.1 ) should i use this ? or maybe you have some other way making those angles ? And thanks |

@El Nath: Use the orange gear from other chassis to replace the plastic ball for the front. Should be okay after that...

Thanks guys, I've made some modifications (using 5 degrees of angles)
and can someone give me an explanation about the correlations between roller's angles and cornering ? so i can calculate and decide on how much angles do i need to make in order not to jump out of the tracks @Beans Nope It's taken from one of the brightest star in Constellations Aries, Alpha Arietis/El Nath/ Hamal |

Thank you for your explanation about those angles |

Hi, im relatively new to mini 4wd. Used to love it as a kid and now I'm trying to make a more competitive comeback.
I just went to the HK race the other day and realized how slow I was compared to everyone. I have two questions though. How do you reduce friction when going through turns, and How do I make my motor churn out more power because I was using the same motor as everyone else and my car was at least 5 seconds slower than everyone. Here is my car: This post has been edited by jayrlo: Jun 22 2010, 03:06 AM |

Thanks so much David! I'm going to try that right now.
I thought using the sliding bumper would help me be faster on turns. I was also wondering why my cars power didn't seem as fast compared to everyone elses. 5 seconds is a lot of time even thought I'm still relatively new. And I was 10 seconds off from the winner too. Average was about 22 seconds and I had 27. Would it be the battery? |

can't sleep... checking some motor data...
for those powerful motor... normally 3V under no load will consume 0.7~0.8(10A)... thus, provide high speed and high toque... but ensure there is no other load that cause power consume when you test...also... no other lube for less friction... our HK friend was shocked to see 'SHEN' built a MS Pro that achieve that kinda speed. And yes i said on facebook group and i'll say it here again, it doesnt matter what chassis you use, VS might be faster but it all depends on the builder.
I will post up my process of assembling my car, which shockingly enough got into qualifying with stock setup, no gear mods no tyres mods just assemble out of box and spare parts out of plastic. |

David, thank you so much for your advice last time. And Szng too.
My car went so much faster, it was rather scary to be honest. I cleaned out my bearings and I took out the sliding damper and poof. So much better. I was wondering. Now that the performance of the parts are better, how do I bring out the best in my motor? |

QUOTE(jayrlo @ Jun 28 2010, 01:10 AM) David, thank you so much for your advice last time. And Szng too. try play around with diff types of bearings first and see what results it madeMy car went so much faster, it was rather scary to be honest. I cleaned out my bearings and I took out the sliding damper and poof. So much better. I was wondering. Now that the performance of the parts are better, how do I bring out the best in my motor? u can try 830 , 950 . 8-9mm wa ,12-13mm wa 19mm try playing with roller positioning and i think those are the basic stuff that you need to master before going to more complicated things as bringing out the potential of the motor the cover also plays a big part in speed and stability so there are many things for you to try out and study try to make notes of the changes that you make to your car and the outcome of doing so then maybe a problem arise you will know how to solve it by looking at the notes that you have made trail and error is very important your skill will grow from there and you can be better |

Thanks David.
I started taking some notes today. Figuring out the angles and roller placement was pretty hard because my car flew out a lot at first. Got it right after say the 40th attempt.... Ouch for my super x. |

front, 3 layers of paper tag for decreasing the angle, front brake applied to decrease the speel for up slope and absorb the impact when down slope.
rear, HG front wing to extend roller position more backward + 830 AO bearing. almost most of the screw space use to provide better stability on cornering. the rear roller actually absorbed most of the force, until the screw getting hardly bended. that's the reason when i am racing with yayah... the screw getting loosed. a gutter opened to softer the tire wall...this is the steering system i try to apply for mini 4wd since last few cars. front wheel gutter rear wheel gutter 2 layers of paper tag inserted into the back of the motor terminal, thus to ensure the conductivity... previously i tried to use 8-9double roller and 830 roller to decrease the weight, however, 12-13 provide more stability and faster corner for my car, so, end up i use heavier double roller for racing...bigger roller has the advantage that crossing the joints of track... lateral force theory for tire, also refer: http://www.dinamoto.it/DINAMOTO/8_on-line_...s_eng/Tires.htm this is the CG of the car at the front and rear, CG not only exist at up and down, it also exist at front and rear... roller position will decided the CG and it have a lot of cross relationship with tire and force absorbed by the front and rear... that's why you see the car moving forward but the rear screw bending.... might discuss further more in future...anyhow, those are my basic understanding on my mini 4wd, you might have better ideas and knowledge, please share and we grown together~ This post has been edited by szngszng: Jun 28 2010, 07:57 AM |

it all depends on the builder also, not only chassis.
I saw lots of guys with modified gearbox, ex large diameter tires and cut chassis to the max, but didnt make it to qualifying. Mine was 100% stock standard out of box and plastic bag car, but built with care. Will post up a small 'how to prepare race car' tutorial by tonight hopefully to share with newbies... |

In Thailand the Mini Pro is the most popular "Avante MKII V Special".
It has the advantages of medium carbon wheels and comes with a 3.5:1 gear ratio. Which I think it is a car ready to race Author. Than the other. It gearbox and spare parts in Thailand is also expensive. In my feelings. Mint, have you tried comparing the performance between 14 Pignon vs 12 Pignon Gears ? (You can get the 12 Pignon from Type 3 Chassis)
And when you use that kind of setting, what kind of wheel did you use ? large ? Low-Height ? or even Small dia ? |

Race condition in the same format. Gear 14 can run faster than gear 12. But .. if the field is the leap that many points. Gear 12 will do 14 times better than Gears. Summarize The smooth running gear 14 will do 12 times better than Gears. Running technical gear to do 12 times more than 14 gears. The size of the wheels and tires. Depending on the technical refinement of individual From that I've tested. Wheel size 2.7mm. Suitable gear 14. If the gear wheel size 12 suit 3mm. |

QUOTE(-=conselfa=-) so after modding the gear, what is the ratio it becomes actually? Err...this is the formula you can put into Excel and play around with it(Counter Pignon/Pignon)x(Counter Corona/ Corona) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « So by using the Super Speed Gear as base, I think the ratio given will be something around 2:1, cmiiw QUOTE(mint~tamiya @ Jul 8 2010, 03:42 PM) I have tried from the gear 12 and 14. From where I can modify, and test gear
The modified gear is available for several months. Or possibly years. At maintenance. Cleaning after play Oil is the weakness of the modified gear. If we use too much oil. Could cause the glue in the connection of gear May be separate. |

All are legal for competition in TU. but in japan they can only use the xxxx-tuned motors. no dash motors.

QUOTE(Su97 @ Jul 23 2010, 09:41 PM) hello suren, you dont neccesary need to put mass damper everytime... it depends on the track layout. the rear setup seems ok but the front is a failure...those black plastic rollers at the bottom will cause the car to crash everytime...it is not a stable car...please refer to other photos of car setups posted on the forum...go back as far as tamiya mini4wd v4. lots of photos there, you'll learn to setup many cars that way. any questions refer to me. you also got to follow measurement rules...and mass dampers are allowed with the inner part of bumper( other holes) and not where you put rollers.Added on July 23, 2010, 11:04 pm QUOTE(Beans @ Jul 23 2010, 04:07 PM) beans, i saw this just now at 5pm..still got. This post has been edited by gabz.85: Jul 23 2010, 11:04 PM |
