If you want experience join any service company, Technip being French are not the most generous of the lot, lagipun at 27 you only have 3 more years to go offshore before you're officially banned/desk bound. In Schlumberger you need to be below 30 for your first offshore passport.

Look, you don't need 2 MBA's MSC's to get a good pay. My friend with a normal UTM Chemical Engineering degree just 2nd class upper aja, is already a certified deepwater specialist at 26, at 25 he managed to do recovery for drilling mud worth USD5M which would otherwise been a very costly disposal. Btw now at 30 is is they youngest MD of a drilling fluid plant company, a local malaysian singh and he only make 30K plus a month, which is about an expat's salary, excluding bonuses and benefits.

As for me, I graduated at 29 ha ha ha, with a degree in Marketing doing part time in UPM, I make above average as a former supply chain manager for a service company, a business analyst and now I am about to let go of all that at 35. Both of us are moving on to set up our own company not related to OnG. So you're still thinking of studying eh? Hmm my former procurment assistant is now Fasttrack on MI as new Field Manager at 27, grad at 24 worked for me as procurement assistant for six months and had a hire letter from Houston. Btw she's a girl, 5 '1 a Sabahan.

There's only so much that can be read from the books. In this business its all about work experience, comparing that to the basics that you have learned and building contacts. So if you still would like to read/study to me that's a big loss on your end. To me you're too old and too late to go offshore already and perhaps a teaching job or a research job would be more suited. Get off the books and start doing practical stuff. Its my advise, nak dengar x nak sudah, but you're way way way behind the curve...

He won't be going offshore anyway.

I'd say you better look for a place where your Master degree "has value". One thing you are lacking here is experience. Those entering with first degree are also earning the same like you. So you can see that you Master gives no weight. Again, because you have no experience whatsoever in the line of business.

Hey appreciate ur reply.
Thanx for the tickle of the mind..

My future boss at Pet told me to take up the offer 1st thn later I can jump into Corporate Safety (technical site) or something else related to my qualification. But lately I came to knw many new hires resign aftr 1-2 yr coz they never given a role that they wanted.. Lots of technical grads thrown into non-technical.And there r 1000s waiting in the Job Change Application (JCA) queue at Petronas.

How many years will you be bonded to Technip if you take their offer? While I will say it's never a good thing to get your hands and feet tied to a company because you'll have zero bargaining power as long as you're with them, if the bond is for a few years then it may be a good thing after all.

Updated info-No bond.
Employment offer upon completion.

Rotibakar,

You already have all the papers that you need, if you're serious about knowing about your work join a service company be it MI, Schlumberger, Baker, Halliburton, BJ etc , you learn more there than you will ever learn as compared to working for an Operator like Petronas, Shell etc. Go for the experience rather than the pay, the pay will come naturally. If someone who graduates late like me can do it, you can do a heck of a lot better. I've some personal friends who graduated business admin and now are Team Lead in Drilling Fluids. Business Admin bro...! He started as scratch because the company he formerly worked for as a mud logger closed shop and at 32 he had to start all over again. He's now with MI Swaco and last month is promoted to Ops Manager, special tools a good buddy of mine.

As for the guy that I said is now an MD ayah dia dulu is just a lorry driver and they were so poor that they couldnt afford to change a flat wheel at the shop so had to do it on his own with him helping out. You just have to be doggone seriously motivated to get where you want to be and by all means get moving to help your family.

People who have lots of money can do double, triple even double PHD, but you need to get you ass off the pedestal and improve their quality of life. Berbakti when your parents are still around, when they are no more, even if you're a millionaire it won't matter bro. To me you've made it the moment you go back to your parents and move them to a new fully furnished house or start to repair their home. If you want to wait, waitlah but lots of things can happen in 1 1/2 years, they may not be around that long to see you succeed.

Bro, your explaination is very informative... That is why I cont my study part time in IE for getting practical experience rather than theoritical experience..As I c my age is still younger, so this is time for me to do both things together - master n working! So for roti bakar, study for me is just a gain of extra knowledge, practical also important.. think carefully...if I can continue working with technip after completing the course,i choose technip!

By the time I complete this prgm I'll be in my early 29 with 1 bachelor n 2 masters but 0 experience.<--it is a hard decision to make bro!
