Guys,

Im 27 this yr.
Bachelor's degree-Chem Eng (local U).
Master's degree-HSE Eng (local U-juz completed).
Working experience-negligible

Received two offers last week.

Offer 1:
Petronas-Based in KLCC.
Basic 4K
Involves travelling all around the world to meet clients, requires people skill (PR).
The only con- it's a non-technical position has nothing to do with my 6 yrs of tertiary education.
*Once I reject this offer I have to forget tis dream company forever

Offer 2:
Another technical masters degree-taught in English (1.5 yrs)
Based in French Petroleum Institute (Paris)
Fully funded by Technip of France (not Malaysia).
Upon completion I can choose to work at Technip.
Surprisingly there is no bond-confirmed! (updated info)

Frankly i'm a kampung boy-ultra poor- (never been on flight-not even s'pore- shakehead.gif !!)
But I have a lots of confidence in me that I can survive tough environments.
I have no dependands to support at the moment but considering my age I'm asking my self wen I gona start work, setup family, property, etc etc..
I find tis a rare opportunity..
Sifus plz shed ur thought and help me to decide... icon_question.gif rclxms.gif

great.. HSE is highly demanded esp in oil industry now. with good number of years of experience, you can go places. before making final choice, yr trip to paris may delay family life.. just a thot..

go for paris IMHO. you can do part-time bussiness or invest IF you're saying in terms of setting up property. for family life, i guess, thats the lack of it.

Offer 2:
Another technical masters degree (1.5 yrs)
Based in French Petroleum Institute (Paris)
Fully funded by Technip and possibly bonded for a short period.

I'd go for offer 2!
Because when you complete that, with your experience studying abroad, by gaining some valuable network, I'm sure you've got a shot at Petronas or any other company.
To top it up, Its fully funded too!
Offer 2 is a chance of exposure, going out of your comfort zone and testing your capabilities in changing environments. Since you have the confidence, then prove yourself.

How many years will you be bonded to Technip if you take their offer? While I will say it's never a good thing to get your hands and feet tied to a company because you'll have zero bargaining power as long as you're with them, if the bond is for a few years then it may be a good thing after all.

every company will have their bad time..even microsoft or apple experience it before...

the thing about ts concern is..once you rejected petronas offer..u will nvr get back to this company anymore..that's the petronas policy...
