QUOTE(R_if @ Mar 18 2012, 02:35 PM) im actually opting for mechanical engineering UTM have always been one of the IPTAs that is most open when it comes to intake requirements. but of course, certain courses have specific requirements, and it can be in the form of 'we're not taking any asasi students for this course'. as simple as that.I also pelik.... probably have to take matrikulasi or diploma now if UTM no longer accepts asasi student other courses have other requirements, like must have thumbs (i'm not kidding, coz they require operating equipments that require full use of thumbs, imagine PS3 controller); or like architecture, must not be colour blind and so on. Is the Sigma E Cube still alive? Ms Venni still helming it? Or has it been changed to a different club altogether/abolished outright? |

Owh. Sorry. Thought I saw your name listed in the KL campus
Reason I asked so much about the English Language Society is becuase I was one of the founding members Would like to know what happened to it. Ah well. Heard that Skudai is tough though. I only went there for my graduation. Must say I was quite impressed with the size of the campus. Just that the facilities are really old. Is it better now? Anyhow, all the best! |

UTM skudai now have expanded even further. the stadium and swimming arena are already completed and in full use. several other colleges are also spawning up, new faculties being built etc. there are also massive infrastructural upgrades taking place, particularly on internet services, electrical supply etc.
i'm also involved in designing a new student union building, which will be the new center for the students. it would have cinema, bowling arena, convention center, brand retails like starbucks etc. all in campus. we're gonna piss on the other universities lol. |

I'm sick of people mistaking UTM as UiTM. Hey, we got the better minds/grades here. It's just that infra was severely lacking. But hearing that they're improving in that department makes me feel better about it.i'm also involved in designing a new student union building, which will be the new center for the students. it would have cinema, bowling arena, convention center, brand retails like starbucks etc. all in campus. we're gonna piss on the other universities lol. UTM really has potential to shine in terms of studies...The grueling study process was no easy feat...but well worth it. The only gripe I had was the medium of teaching. Books were in English. The lecturers delivered lectures in bahasa...Kinda mindf**ks the student imo. I still remember when my lectuer was like (in Bahasa) "This symbol *points to tau* represent Daya Ricih". Le me looks at the text. Shear Stress. Right. Why do I have to remember two different terminologies again? Or even better. Proses Penyerempitan. Extrusion. WTH? No one uses the Bahasa equivalent in the real world! Not to mention you make studying hell for us Are lectures still conducted in Bahasa with the text reference being in English? |

oh no wor, my time was ok actually. terms are still in English. but sometimes the lecturer will use BM to explain, no problem for me, i bilingual also can.
actually i think, after they intro the A+, it was waaaayy easier to get A. >=80 get A liao. before which was >85 baru A. susah giler man... |

Terms in English. At least that makes more sense. Using BM to explain is not an issue. It's the multiple terms - especially technical terms in BM that was causing a lot of problems.actually i think, after they intro the A+, it was waaaayy easier to get A. >=80 get A liao. before which was >85 baru A. susah giler man... I remember one particular lecturer who makes the shortlist for brilliant lecturer. Taught us Fluid Power. He was chastising a student for using the term "diafragma". He was like, DIAPHRAGM! NO ONE USES DIAFRAGMA IN THE REAL WORLD! I was like, wow. He even teaches us to understand instead of blindly memorising everything. Sigh. I love that man. He made class so interesting. The introduction of the A+ dropped the standards from what I understand. My junior was saying it made it much easier to get an A. Dunno if that's good or bad. I remember getting an A for my Thermodynamics. I was on top of the world man! |

WHOA! Thermo as i know is a killer subject! hahahhaha
ya the A+ makes getting A sooooo much easier. Before that, getting even 45/50 carry marks doesn't guarantee an A. but after A+. lol get 40/50 carry mark like sure get A liao hahahhaha |
