QUOTE(iipohbee @ May 22 2011, 10:36 PM) Those cabinets labelled with Cxxx are fiber distribution cabinets for passive optical networks. Your Theory is half correct only...They are used to organize and hold fiber optic cabling for passive optical networks which doesn't require any active power supply apart from the OLT at the exchange. As for the 'V' labelled cabinets by ZTE, they are modern remote DSLAMs which are capable of VDSL2 services with just a swap of line cards inside. Have you seen in the deployment map last time by TM? It mentioned that urban areas and capital cities of states would still get 10mbps broadband while high economic impact areas get 20mbps. I'm guessing this is what they meant. To eventually offer 10mbps broadband packages sometime end of this year or in 2012 using this remote DSLAMs for such areas. Not sure whether it'll be ADSL2+ or VDSL2 but anyone living within 500m away from this cabinets are likely to be eligible. Some telco companies in US and Europe already started switching their copper broadband users from ADSL2+ modulation to VDSL2 to take advantage of the extra bandwidth. All this with just a swap of a line card and a new modem at the customer's premise. If you live within 2km from an exchange, VDSL2 gives better bandwidth and advatages such as higher uploads and download speeds. Added on May 22, 2011, 10:46 pmObserve this graph: ![]() Anything above 2km, the performance of VDSL2 and ADSL2+ are the same. But within 1.km, VDSL2 could provide upto 20mbps while ADSL2+ speeds drop below 20mbps if distance is above 1km. The fact is TM will put fiber optic cable from their backbone to downstairs Converter BOX of your condominium. Secondly TM will pull from their converter box to your VDSL2 existing copper wire to your unit. Note: The Converter box function as convert fiber optic signal or called data to electric pulse or called signal as VDSL2. Hence, unless you live in the condominium that height more then 1KM....... even KLCC or the tallest building in the world? The only problem is the latency and the respond time variance between the fiber optic and copper wire. P/S: Network cable CAT5e also good as 100meter only... (not made in China) if China cable 20 meter already got problem. |

QUOTE(iipohbee @ Jul 1 2011, 02:25 PM) Your data charges is prorated? Don't worries, 1st month they from unifi charge you pro-rate on how many days you use. While you will only see charges incurred for IPTV if you subscribe to additional channels/premium contents while you have voice charges if you make calls outside the free TM fixed line networks? You should only be worried of download caps if volume amount appears in your usage tracking.. IPTV is free, unless you go to subscribe those paid channel. Free between TM number = normal number such as 03-12345678 not 1300-xxx-xxx or 1800-xxx-xxx or 600-88-xxxx or 300 or 400 or 333 (more expensive) handphone charge.... Now not yet block you when you over use the bandwidth. This post has been edited by owc: Jul 1 2011, 03:05 PM |
