Simple design with the use of the Symbian S60 Series operating system inside it will be an attraction for mobile users. Although its popularity did not sparkle like QWERTY phones currently available.
This phone has a fairly affordable price with full support for multimedia features and connections to a minimum. Series `C 'is a Symbian Nokia phone collection system operation, which aimed to segment more competitive prices.

Nokia C5 use candybar design, similar to the Nokia 6303i. The difference, Nokia C5 rely more streamlined and length dimensions. Nokia also eliminate the sharp angle with the touch of a more rounded. Metallic material dominates the entire front section of the phone.
Buttons using a plastic material. At the bottom of the screen, the Nokia put the navigation buttons and some buttons for user softkey, call, end up home button. Keypad uses solid plastic, but quite comfortable when typing.

To support the user interface, C5 uses the Symbian S60 3rd edition FP2. Symbian typical menu icons can be found here. In addition to support homescreen, shortcuts and themes can be personalized as needed.
Homescreen create email notifications, messages and calls through a 2.2-inch screen in 16 million color TFT screen, 240x320 pixels, the display was fine and sunny.

Nokia supplies 3.15 MP camera equipped with LED lights flash. With this power, the phone is capable of producing images with a maximum size of 1536 x 2058 pixels.
To help the quality of the photos, the C5 has the camera settings such as: Night mode, Selftimer, White Balance, and the other effects. Unfortunately C5 forget special camera shutter button, to facilitate users in accessing these features.

With the existing arrangement, the picture looks satisfying. Besides having a rapid response to the object, the results also appear sharp and clear, although it was not equipped with autofocus. While in indoor conditions, the LED lights flash it, is able to maximize the lighting so the results are still sharp, though still a little noise.
In addition to the main camera, C5 is also capable of placing secondary VGA camera that can also be used to take pictures and make video calls. Good again, both cameras can be used to record video up to VGA @ 15 fps size.

Besides the camera, the C5 also has other multimedia features like music player and video. Music and video player with a maximum appearing like a mobile phone interface and settings highend Nokia. In the music player is equipped with sound settings / equalizer.
Support built-in loudspeaker on the back of the sound output is sharp and clear, though not too loud. Users can also use an existing headset in the sales package. Bass and treble is more pronounced.
3.5 mm audio port allows users to connect this phone with other audio devices.

Besides music and video player users also were served with an FM radio feature which supports RDS. Simply connect the headset as an antenna users can enjoy radio broadcasts well.

Nokia C5 connection equipped with a path that is supported 3G HSDPA and HSUPA for internet access. Users easier access to internet via a browser that supports HTML and XHTML.

To transfer data, this phone provides many interesting facilities ranging from the availability of Bluetooth, which is already equipped with the profile A2DP and microUSB port so users can perform data synchronization via Nokia PC suite and Ovi Sync. GPS Receiver on this phone is equipped with OVImaps.

Nokia typical applications such as Ovi Store, Ovi Maps v 3:03 equipped with free navigation. There was also DO Share, Ovi Music, Nokia Chat and email.

For those who like to access social networking sites, Nokia C5 also provides a special Facebook application and the client to a variety of other social networking sites like Friendster, hi5, MySpace, and YouTube. For multimedia applications provided RealPlayer or Nokia Search.

To assist in the work, the Nokia C5 include Quickoffice application (viewer). In addition there is also an Adobe PDF and zip file applications. Not to mention, including standard applications such as calculator, calendar, stopwatch, alarm clock until notes. Also the presence of the Bounce game Tales and Brain Challenge.
Use of the operating system Symbian OS S60 version 9.3 and support java platform making it easier for nokia C5 to add and update applications.

C5 equipped with 600 MHz ARM11 processor, so that multitasking activities (open multiple applications simultaneously) were more optimal. 50 MB available internal memory plus MicroSD slot. Nokia to include 2GB of memory in the sales package.
1050 mAh lithium ion battery C5 able to support up to 3 days for normal use.

the disadvantage of this phone is no WiFi ..

with wifi.. the phone can be ALMOST perfect for simple user at that price range..

the price seems almost same with SE ELM..

between C5 vs SE ELM
for a simple user .. they will go for SE ELM ..

while for the advanced user.. they will go for C5 , as.. it is a smartphone..

C5 is just younger brother of 6220c [because it downgrade LOL]

as i said.. this phone could be perfect [for budget around RM 600] .. if it has WiFi ..

another challenger of Nokia C5 is SE Elm ..

SE Elm has Wifi , 5mp camera , GPS ...

yes.. for me C5 is better as it is a smartphone... but no wifi really a big disadvantages..[nowadays.. smartphone need this]

but well.. for the person that using plan packages... no problem using this phone thumbup.gif

You can enable 3g located at phone setting > connectivity > network > select UTMS.
UTMS stand for 3g and gsm stand for 2g or you can select dual mode.
You can go for ovi store to download ScreenSnap for capture screen of your handset.

The mail icon blinking indicate your sim message is full.
Go to message and select option, sim message and delete the sim message

Dont give any problems at all.

BTW, this phone not using soft material for keypad, just it feels soft when typing sms.
Just like 3310. I think that what barjoyai mean.

Seriously, really like using this phone.
Especially for the GPS, i mean, OVI Maps. Just like garmin.
And, free in charge.

600Mhz processor phone, higher than the Nokia 5800 I am using which only have a processor speed of 434 Mhz.

My Nokia 5800 does not hanged even or take longer time to seek file (I have very few files).

This phone is suitable for those older generation of people who does not like the touchscreen.

They are not interested in wifi, but some of them would be interested in using the free ovi map.

First, whether you have data charge or not depends on whether you turn on AGPS giving a faster locktime of less than 10secs but it incur only a small amount of data cost. Without turning on AGPS, locking time might probably be within 5 to 10 mins.

The map on Garmin is a lot better. Garmin map is up-to-date as compared to OVI Maps which isn't as up-to-date as OVI Maps. Both can work without AGPS.

What's the best price for this phone if I were to buy it at a retail outlet? A guy conceded to sell this phone for me for RM 600 at Summit USJ, if I pay cash.

A few weeks later at the same shop a different guy said RM 630 cash.

How far should I push it?

BTW, my thread on the Nokia C5-00 before I noticed this thread. Someone close it now. sweat.gif

Yeah. It is really suitable for the people who wants simple and nice phone.

Is there any other nokia phone comparable to this model?

Don't think so. Which is why Nokia should focus on making phones like this and not high end touchscreen stuffs.

Yaya. I found out that most of the older generation like this simple and quite cheap phone based on the specification it offered.

now got huge market for touch devices but it seems like Nokia is destroying itself with N8, C7 failures all around the world. This is bad for the future of Nokia

Normal issue for Nokia. When N97 is released, there is a lot of issues with it.

3 months later, Nokia release N97 mini. I hope that Nokia already have plan to rectify the N8 problems. smile.gif

hmm.gif I wish they would make some more "normal" phones like C5 but with 12MP, WiFi, GPS, bla3... but of course screen size would suffer I guess
Making touchscreens seem to be Nokia's downfall...I don't want to watch Nokia die after so many years leading the industry sad.gif

Something like that. Nokia still good in hardware, but Nokia need to improve themselves in terms of software.

Frankly, who really needs a 12MP camera. 5 would be more than adequate! Something like the C5-03 would be very nice, without the bloody touchscreen.

Actually when people found out that you are just asking for the prices and have no intention of getting it from them, they usually won't entertain such a request.

yeah the problem is their price is not accurate on the web..

if they put the price accurately like amazon or what then ppl won't be asking them pm me best price and all

you understand the problem with the "sellers"

Guys,

It is the sellers' prejudice whether they want to reply the so call " potential customer". Based on number of the people who only ask prices, but did not buy at the end; it really makes them asking themselves 'why should i entertain these guys?"

Imagine you are the seller, and everyday reply quite a number unknown people with prices that will be used to compared with the other sellers and in the end the seller with the lowest "bid" wins the contract. So, why want to spend time to reply and editing the first page of the thread with the latest price?

The truth is, many of them only uses this information to get a better price for them rather than buying in the first attempt. It is not wrong for consumer to uses the price to compare against different sellers in the eye of the law and it is not wrong also ignore the private messages too.

Just bought this phone yesterday, must say for the build quality it's real value for money.
Any C5 onwners here face problem with bluetooth headset connection. At one time it refuse to
connect then other time it will not answer call from my bluetooth button. This is resolve by restarting
the phone. BTW I update to the latest SW as soon as I got the phone.

If you use it for such long hours it would be a little bit headache. If the person does not have such a problem, don't be happy. He/She might regret when doctor say there is something wrong with his/her health as a result of using such gadget too much.

If you drive real fast, it is usually better to have another person to navigate you.

I have to follow my dad to navigate him around after he switch to iphone since the navigation software also have the same problem.

Nono.

A-GPS means Assisted- Global Positioning System

It means it will need to use the network data badly.

GPS only works accurately up to around 60km/h in my X6 doh.gif
A-GPS only uses a short period of data connection to get a quicker lock on GPS satellites.. around 10kb which equates to 10sens

Those 2 still too expensive. Have you tried it?

At the same time, when does the Nokia will release the MeeGo OS? It might help it to regain the momentum rather than being stuck in the losing streak.

That is hardcore ifag. They always focus on the fact that iphone has more application than any other OS. I hope Android can really catch up with the iOS application in numbers and i don't think it would take long.

Hey guys, I just got this phone and would like to ask a few questions.

- Can I use skype for this phone?
- Is Ovi suite the only way to transfer files to the phone. Like putting on themes or ringtones, etc?

So far, so good. Simple phone for us simple folks...hehe biggrin.gif

Sorry to ask so cause I'm a SE user currently, thought of changing to Nokia....

It is about around Rm 500 like that. Prices depend much on your hunting skills.

I got one and have updated to the latest firmware ald. So far, so good.

The Killer Mobile product i am selling is compatible with the Nokia C5-00. Currently, I am running authorized copies of BlackBaller Pro, Future TxT and Total Recall inside it with ease. brows.gif

Guys, my friend intend to sell me his Nokia C5 White, but is an AP set. Price is kinda attractive, but before I commit to the sales, I want to assure few things 1st.

1. Can an AP set, update the firmware and Ovi Maps via nokia.com.my?

2. If AP set cannot update the firmware and Ovi Maps, where are the alternative ways to do so?

What else do I need to beware of when buying this hp under AP warranty?

Thanks for the advices in advance.

This phone AP price (RM496) is more than ori (RM478). What's the reason?

Anybody using it and has tried video call? Does video call work fine? Thanks.

just wanna share, the nokia ovi map is superb!! i used it during my holiday trip to Istanbul and it helped me a lot.i brought along my iphone and other android phone but in the end nokia still the best and most practical for me. it's fast, small n simple and the battery is damn great. just the downside of this phone is it has no wifi. if it has, i think it will be the most valuable, practical phone ever made by nokia.
