My point exactly, so am i right in saying;

2. Get the VAT claim from frm them
3. At the airport, head over to the counter and claim biggrin.gif

i think you dont have to worry if you only buy 1 for yourself and bring it back to Malaysia. You just need to claim back your VAT.

Orange UK has announce their iPhone price plan

Not really that attractive to me. Maybe i just stick to the current plan to get sim free phone
You, as a visitor outside EU country, come to EU and buy stuff like branded handbags (lotsa malaysians do this) which is more than 300 pounds (i think somewhere around there, i cant remember) can claim back the VAT (value added tax) at the airport. Its like singapore GST.

Before you fly back, you can go to the VAT claim counter and claim back your VAT (in cash or cheque). But you need a VAT form for it i think.

You probably need to ask for VAT form from Apple.

you need a VAT form from the seller, and to get the form, you have to show your passport with evidence as a visitor.

not sure how things have changed since i left UK.

but as far as my memory can go, the 17.5% VAT isn't net 17.5%.

you actually obtain a percentage less than 17.5 (after deducting miscellaneous charges/fees).

students or overseas citizen with a working visa et cetera cannot claim the VAT (but the custom officers do sometimes to check for your visa) and process your claim.

but there shouldn't be any problems for tourists (afterall you are encouraged to shop there!)

I suppose we're unable to claim VAT if we're using freight forwarding service?

It's quite sad that local iphones are more expensive than those with higher purchasing power country

Wel actually UK iPhone only cheaper now due to weak pound sterling. If a few months back where it was 1 pound= RM5.5 maybe...its much more expensive the MY even with VAT refund.

True but countries like HK and Aus seem to offer lower price than Malaysia as well, if I remembered correctly.

The good news kept on coming. I've just made a call to Apple Store Regent Street (phone number 0044207153900), and talked to the Apple Genius on the line, and yes, he confirmed that you can nominate a third party person to pick up your iPhone 4 on launch day. The Apple Genius itself sounds so happy, and congratulates me!

geez. if you wanna compare it that way, i might as well say that the fuel in malaysia is selling for a much cheaper price compared to HK and australia?
