hi guys. im planning to get the edifier DA 5000 Pro or the edifier S550 set. i have enough budget to buy either one but is the listening experience from both are much different? i dont intend to turn the volume very high and use the system to watch movies. some people say the DA 5000 Pro is enough for me but the some say just go straight to S550, worth the money and upgrade.

the S550 is rm600 more expensive than the DA 5000 Pro but if the sound quality is not so much different, better i stick with the DA 5000 Pro only. problem is here in JB, no pc shop got ready stock for both so i cant test the system. if i order from distributor, i must put deposit and straight buy so big problem if already buy then not 'puas hati' with the sound quality. thanks.
*
the s550 is very worth the price
the sound quality difference is huge...
not to mention the s550 is easier to control compared to da5000pro

everybody is waiting for the mighty S750 which has a D in it but it is nowhere to be seen
it says it supports HD audio,Dolby Digital HT,Optical,Coaxial, and many-many more modern functions

QUOTE(ainuddin @ Jul 25 2010, 08:31 PM)

  3. 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel

hi, just bough s330 few days ago, i noticed that when playing certain songs where the singer is those high pitch wan, the speakers got some 'pecah' sound.  sad.gif  is that normal? sorry, first time buying pc speakers, dont know much  sweat.gif
*
it could be because of the fresh speaker... give it some time then the pecah sound will go away...

oh... as Edifier say, your soundcard may be the problem too... mind telling what soundcard you use?

sound card, i check from device manager it says realtek high definition audio  unsure.gif
*
it's best to put your soundcard to neutral always

What should I do to make the speaker sound is as good as posible?
*
A good source is required.
like a good soundcard...

secondly... the position of each speakers.
go to this site to learn more on how to place your speaker
put your subwoofer on the floor and not on the table

i am concerned that edifier will become 'fashion' PC speakers manufacturer instead of the 'quality sound at affordable price', seeing their latest products mainly focus on design. laugh.gif just hope it's not. we need newer 2.1 / 5.1 M and R series products!  tongue.gif

and also S and HCS and C rclxms.gif

ok, got myself the DA 5000 Pro. sound quite good for my kind of usage. currently using the cables provided by Edifier for the output line to the speakers. will changing them to the thicker fluorescent cables that large speaker system use like in the disco change the sound quality?
*
I don't think you need to change the speaker cable... it's good already

the only thing you need to change is the cable that connects your speakers to the computer... cuz that's not really convincing

Does S330D support DTS. The manual from Canada says that it does not support Dolby Digital (AC-3). I tried to search for more info on this but could not find any.

I plan to use it with my WDTV to play Bluray movies with DTS sound. WDTV requires optical input to an AV Receiver to decode the sound. Just wondering whether S330D will do the job. Thanks.
*
this... I cannot confirm because I have not try them on DTS
as far as I can remember Mr. Edifier had said once that it cannot support DTS
ask Mr. Edifier because I'm not sure

after doing some reading, some said that m3300sf has better bass..the design also nicer. lol

now, having better treble or bass is better??
*
if you're testing it with your ears... you'll only notice there's more treble... the bass will be the same

anyone use e3350 here???i think i just wub.gif with the pyramid design when i stare on it but i still love 2 have some reviews posted here...i planning 2 get one 4 my 2nd PC in hometown...since i game n movies in high volume a lot,,,the need 4 loud bass is a freaking priority 4 me rclxms.gif
*
bass on that pyramid isn't very strong...
it's kinda hard to reach to the bass volume oso
overall it's for average music listening

I'd recommend the classic E3100 if you want some serious sounding speakers
or jump to the awesome Edifier S330 for RM400+ smile.gif
