You've got that right. relative is the correct word for it.
I also use Live View for Table shots.

ian : I think he was referring to 550D on the --> 2. all focus points are cross type (+) at f2.8, so you can use any AF points at low light, try that with 550D & you'll cry
10fps? U took ur daughter w/ you or you steal her 1D3? I remember when I was shooting 1U fashion show (the woo...la..la.. show), everyone was going at 6fps / 7fps / 8fps / 10fps.. it was like machine gun fire man.. I came home w/ nearly 600++ shots in a span of ~30mins. All RAW. Full my 16GB CF. Me want another 16GB CF man.. Not enough.... Shooting 18mp RAW is really KILLING! and what's more, after getting the photofast, the older A-data 80x is slow!! |

today is darn sucky day.
bought a Vantec Dual Bay Esata docking toaster and then found out my acer esata does not do Port multiplier. End up can only use 1 slot at a time. (still can do 2 for USB tho, but besides the point) I opened up some Old (kept lying around HD, which is still in ESD Bag, pop it into the PC, RAID0 it, then HDTune saw it was Averaging ~160mb/s, was happy. 20mins later, one of the HD got knocking sound and can't spin up properly. DIE.. Dig out another HD, which was working previously, HDTune SMART monitoring says it's "about to die", great.. I thought I'll low level / zero it out to see if it will help. PLug into my laptop + external USB and then typed commands into my Linux Laptop terminal. TERsalah hard-disk, end up I TER-zeroed out my laptop's main HD, 244MB is zeroed out. WIndows XP partition LOST. MBR lost. All partition Table Lost. Spent whole day trying to figure out how to get back my data. Dang it.. So many screw ups!! The only good thing was, I managed to get a RAID0 running on 2x 750G drives. HD TUne reports the speed as Averaging ~150MB/s. I am now using this RAID0 drive for my LightRoom Cache as well as my RAW file placeholder. LR is now much more responsive and speedier, which is GREAT! I have to be careful about this RAID0 though. Have to keep on making sure that once I'm done w/ the edits etc, have to do the Re-sync / backup to another drive. |

same thing will happen if the single drive went mad as well lah.
hence, backup is important. |

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Jun 27 2010, 10:44 PM) myjunk have to take this statement seriously. Do not RAID0 important drives. The probability of the system to fail increases with number of drives connected in RAID0 array. Yeah.. Hence, I said. Backup is VERY important. Must be consistent in the backups.Unless the Drives fails during the time I"m editing the photos, I think I'll be fine. (most important is have to remember to re-sync the drives) QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 27 2010, 11:59 PM) This is why u need Apple dude. Don't care what u deleted or screwed up. U can always go back 1 hour in time n get back to work immediately. This is a screw-up. Even if you're on an apple, also will screw up cos I use the terminal app.QUOTE(DecaPix @ Jun 28 2010, 12:19 AM) WHo says I get HDD for cheap? most times, but from LYP is cheaper!! |

the cat pic, needs to crop out a little bit of the pavement. There's a very distracting white there.
Cute though. (I give one facebook like!! ) haha.. Ianho : The time-machine thingy, I also can do it. Just that, I never did it religiously. I've got backup, but it was from last year. |

Me on the Linux Laptop lah.. Rsync is FTW as the young generations says.I used to wipe everything and then just rsync back everything and it'll kautim already all the data and OS etc. That's what I did when I upgraded from 80GB HD to 320G HD.
