2000mAh or 2700mAh - it's just the amount of power stored on the cell.

you need to understand the difference between UMBRELLA and SOFTBOX.

their output is different.

UMBRELLA spreads the light, diffusing it but generally directionless.

SOFTBOX on the other hand is diffused directional light.

small room not an issue. depending on what effect you want, it could be as simple as bouncing off the ceiling / wall.

got got. suppose to write article on it but so long have been straying around with other articles.

put it in words la. i too Mr Potato container, cut open the closed end - kau tim, you get a snoot already. after that it depends how you want to modify

1. use straws / Corrugated board or whatever you call it to make it into honeycomb
2. stuff tissue to diffuse (close with Mr potato cap. tongue.gif)
3. #1 and #2 combined

if you feel happy, you can even add color gel (or color translucent paper) to change the lights. biggrin.gif (eg, put orange or whatever to to give warm light)

yeah if you use umbrella that way then yes, it's directional.

instead of using 2, you can also use 1 + reflector for lesser light intensity.

866 has higher Guide Number (stronger flash). generally more features, like being master to the 622. stuff like that. not sure about other details.

yeah depends on what the fella doing la.

shooting even, some people use manual also mah. say you set ISO400 with 1/60 and f5.6 all the way. then fix the flash power also. some people do that.

you can use TTL also, no problem.

for studio shoot, i don't use TTL already.

if you were to equate to camera body P mode and M mode, I'd say it's pretty much like that. go read up on TTL and understand better what it is.

TTL is always good to have. nowdays TTL flash so cheap, Di622 already got TTL.

Added on September 25, 2010, 1:31 amif no TTL then consider it strictly for studio / strobing.

Ur talking about the GN (guide number) rite?
Yes it does affects image quality (but if the picture is already bad in compo, exposure, etc then it won't do much wonder then) because higher GN means stronger output power (ie using 1/1 power on the flash)

About the 15m, where did u get the number? Hehe some flash don't even reach 5meter light-effective  hahaha
*
i wouldn't say image quality but rather the quality of the photo itself BUT only at the point where more light is helpful.

after all, flash quite often don't reach 1/1 (full power). i prefer not to reach 1/1 power. biggrin.gif

may i know which would be a good match for my canon EOS 550D, sunpak PZ42x or Nissin Di622?
in terms of compatibility and performance that is..

how about when compared to the original canon speedlite 430EX?
cannot compare la. Di622 / PZ42X is half the price of 430EX II but similar guide number.

the 430EX II's quality is top notched. biggrin.gif the Di622 advantage is on the price and can be optically triggered.

that said, if $$$$ is a concern - just get those 3rd party flash and be happy with it. they're good enough for most people.

what for you need 55 pieces?

just 1 piece orange translucent piece you can adjust for so many different orange intensity already. in fact that's the one you'll use the most for indoor.

Nah. Different lighting calls for different gels.
*
yes but i'm saying la, generally when you shoot indoors with ambient light, a single piece of CTO can do a lot already.

Added on January 9, 2011, 1:43 amand yes, like what you mentioned, some are because of multiple copies.

i think the 55 colors are useful for achieving various effect, like say you want key or highlights in a different color.

and sorry, earlier i was talking in context of say shooting a wedding or function in a typical warmly lit setting.
